Olivia Rodrigo has covered Noah Kahan‘s superhit song “Stick Season,” and Kahan has done a version of Rodrigo’s “Lacy,” the chart-topper from GUTS.
The live renditions by the two artists, recorded for BBC Radio 1‘s “Live Lounge,” will be available on a 7-inch colored vinyl, with Rodrigo’s rendition of “Stick Season” on Side A, and Kahan’s version of “Lacy” on Side B, on April 20 via Geffen/Mercury/Republic, as a special Record Store Day release.
“Stick Season,” the lead single from Kahan’s 2022 album of the same name, has been certified 2x Platinum in the U.S., while Variety named “Lacy” as one of the best songs of 2023 and noted, “Rodrigo makes poetry out of insecurity like nobody’s business.”
While recording his version of “Lacy,” Kahan said Rodrigo’s cover left him “honored” and “inspired.” He said that he chose to take a crack at “Lacy” because it “highlights what I love so much about Olivia’s lyricism; it’s very dynamic and it just makes you feel an emotion we’ve all experienced before.”
