Guardians of the Galaxy set to team up with the Avengers in ‘Infinity War’

The Marvel Cinematic Universe will clash in grand outer-space fashion in 2018’s ‘Avengers: Infinity Was’ when the Guardians of the Galaxy do a mega-team up with ‘Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ the Avengers which was confirmed this week by the voice of Groot, Vin Diesel. The ‘Fast & Furious’ star leaked the expected meetup during a live Facebook video where he was celebrating his fan page reaching 100 million followers. Marvel has yet to confirm the mash-up of the two superhero squads but it’s been widely expected since a multi-movie roll out over the course the next few years was announced in 2014.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2′ hits theaters on May 5, 2017. Consequences of Sound has more on Diesel leaking the news here.

‘Avengers; Infinity War’ which will be directed by Anthony and Paul Russo who previously directed ‘Captain Amerca: Winter Solider’ and ‘Captain America: Civil War’. The stories of inner turmoil among the Avnegers team in ‘Civil War’ will roll into the largest scale battle in the MCU has seen thus far, which is massive undertaking as it will balance over a dozen different superhero characters in one story over two films. The stars of MCU teased the film as a massive culmination of the Marvel heroes against one ominous threat: Thanos. Plans for the film were first revealed in 2014,so with this GoG news just now,  the anticipation will continue to build.

Tigers, Humans New Best Friend!

If you own a big cat sanctuary you are probably one of the greatest humans on the face of the earth. Let’s be honest though, dogs have always been known for being humans best friends ever since Ancient Egypt and I don’t think humans would ever change that. But, there may be reason to believe that big cats and maybe even smaller cats are getting sick of hearing that.

In the video below we witness what might be one of greatest saves ever done by dog or cat. Not only is this man sitting inside a big cat cage petting one on the ground, but he is in there with no protection. When one Leopard realizes he’s hungry and sees this man, he thinks, “Alright, a free meal”, but not so fast! One of the Tigers in the cage springs into action once it sees what is about to go down and saves the day! Check out the amazing video below!

Paragliding, The Next Olympic Sport?

With the Summer Olympics going on in Rio, there is always talk about what sport the Olympic Committee could add next. In the case of some very high flying daredevils, Paragliders are trying to make a case in Rio that they should be looked at seriously as a sport that needs to be added.

Now I don’t know how Paragliding would be added as a sport. Do you race? Do you do time trials? Do you just see who can float the farthest? I really don’t know, but the video below really makes Paragliding seem like one of the coolest things you could be doing at Rio right now.

Would you take the risk and go Paragliding? If you have gone before, what is it like? Go ahead and let us know!

Flea is one of the coolest dudes to ever slap the bass. His chill was full blast in this immediate viral video he posted today where he was relaxing with celebrity gorilla KoKo who you can see here playing with one of the Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist’s bass guitars. “This is the best thing ever” says Flea. We totally agree. See it at the bottom of the page.

Adam West returns to the role of BATMAN (Video)

NEgs6Kb4DNRqjm_1_b (1)

Holy Superhero Flashback news, Batman!

Adam West returns this fall to the role that made him famous, the campy ’60s version of Batman in the animated feature ‘Batman: The Return of the Caped Crusaders’ with original sidekick Burt Ward returning as Robin and actress Julie Newmar reprising her role as Catwoman. A very over-the-top teaser trailer was released this week to remind people how wonderfully corny this interpretation of Batman was, with last minute escapes, dad joke catchphrases, and outlandish situations. The new film hits DVD and Blu-Ray on November 1st and Digital-HD on October 11th.

Adam West spoofed his Bat past with this garage sale of Batcave goodies with Funny or Die here as a demented version of himself who can’t tell the difference between whether he’s an actor or actually Batman after losing his money in a ponzi scheme.

You can make your Twitter or Facebook into a ‘Stranger Thing’

101-wkqx

The warped synth key strokes and the wide pan out through jarring neon letters, you are in the twisted pre-teen scifi world of ‘Stranger Things’. The show which has been a massive hit on Netflix, really hit me with that opening graphic which makes an omage to 80’s horror, Stephen King, and Speilberg movies. The series is just everything you love about science fiction and horror rolled together in this nice keyboard sountrack. If you can not get enough of ‘Stranger Things’, some wonderful computer wizards have created a generator that can make your name or any phrase pop up with those electric letters in a downloadable graphic. You can spice up your Twitter or FB real quick with this. You just plug in the letters at makeitstranger.com

If your clamoring for future seasons of the show, ‘Stranger Things’ creators dish here about the show’s future here.

CPD cracks down on DUIs in Wrigleyville

wville-night

Driving drunk is one of the dumbest and most destructive things we as adults can do. If you are behind the wheel of a car under the influence, you can kill someone including yourself. This all is common sense but we can forget it in those weary hours of the night. To respond to this in the last few busy weekends of the summer,  Chicago Police Department is cracking down on this issue this weekend with a DUI Strike Force Patrol in the popular night-life area of Wrigleyville, Lakeview, and Boystown according to a report today from DNAinfo.com . A mobile breathalyzer unit will also be on hand as well, as well a focus toward safety violations for seat belts and other issues.

Also who drives in Wrigleyville? You have the Red Line right there, CTA buses, and Lyft cars. Be good friend and order that ride for a friend who needs it.

Uber’s first self-driving cars will start picking up passengers this month

08-18-16UBLER

(from techcrunch.com)

It’s been a while since news broke in early 2015 that Uber was working on self-driving cars. Earlier this year, the company openly admitted it was testing cars in Pittsburgh, but we haven’t heard much more over the last 18 months. With Google, the self-driving car leader, slowly making progress with its autonomous cars, you’d be forgiven for thinking Uber’s efforts are far behind and barely visible in itsfrenemy‘s rearview mirror. Well think again! The White Sox need your dog’s help to set a Guinness World Record

WSDOGDAY

(redeyechicago.com)

If you’ve ever wanted to see an entire stadium filled with happy puppies excitedly gathered, your time has come. On Tuesday, Sept. 13, the White Sox are welcoming fans and their furry friends to U.S. Cellular Field for “Bark at the Park,” in an attempt to set a Guinness World Records title for most dogs attending a sporting event. No, it’s not too good to be true. The title requires 1,000 dogs to be present in the ballpark, so get your wallets out and buy your damn tickets, people (they’re $20 and admit one human and one pup). This sounds like a perfect way to spend the day. Can I borrow your dog?  Also don’t forget to register for Brian & Lou’s White Sox Suite!! – m

‘The Nightly Show’ with Larry Wilmore has been canceled

larry-wilmore-show-canceled-comedy-central-e17d3def-364a-4190-8c0b-bd2bf8b3fbca

‘The Nightly Show’ with former ‘Daily Show’ correspondent Larry Wilmore as it’s satirical host will no longer be nightly, as it was revealed yesterday the show has been cancelled by Comedy Central. The show’s final episode will air this Thursday at 10:30 PM with the internet-riff fest ‘@Midnight’ will be takeover that spot until a new show is created. ‘Nightly’ which was created to replace the departing ‘Colbert Report’ ran for 20 months with 260 episodes, featured Wilmore with a field segments and panel discussions joking politics and society.

Comedy Central president Kent Alterman elaborated on the move with Rolling Stone, saying “hasn’t connected with our audience in ways that we need it to” with ratings and viral content. Wilmore responded to the cancellation in stride, saying “Our show going off the air has to only mean one thing: Racism is solved. We did it!”

Wilmore’s comedic response to the recent intense situations with the African-American community and police officials were refreshing and smart. His talents will find their way into another TV or film project, he’s just too good to not ‘keep it 100’ somewhere in the biz of show. He’s already proven himself a tested entertainment vet with writing work for radio star Rick Dees, ‘Living Color’ on FOX, and his long run on ‘Daily Show’ with Jon Stewart. Oh, and he co-created one of the most underrated comedies ‘The PJs’ with Eddie Murphy.

One of the most memorable hits from ‘Nightly’ was Wilmore was playing the time-traveled TV host from the ’70s ‘Soul Dadddy’ struggling to understand how different the world is today as he attempts to host a discussion.

Billy Corgan speaks on the Smashing Pumpkin reunion rumors

Rumors have been swirling and churning for months about Smashing Pumpkins getting back together with a reunion of classic members, and band leader Billy Corgan confirmed that “back in contact” with former members of the band in a Facebook video today. Corgan who has been busy being promoted to President of TNA IMPACT Wrestling on POPtv, opened up about the current state of the Pumpkins and what the future holds for the alternative icons. With the recent surprise appearances of former SP guitarist James Iha at shows this year and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin joining the group for last summer’s ‘This is the End’ Tour with Marilyn Manson, the pieces seemed to becoming together for a full fledged of the seminal Pumpkins lineup. Below is excerpt of Corgan clearing the air on the entire situation including his rekindled friendship with former bassist D’Arcy Wretzky.

“There are some things going on, but they’re the type of things I didn’t even think were worth talking about because they’re more private than public. But at the same point, I don’t want people speculating about something that’s got nothing to do with what’s going on. First off, we’re back in contact again, the band. I’ve been in communication with D’arcy for the first time in 16 or 17 years, it’s awesome to have my friend back. So we’re all in communication, which as I said not too long ago, my primary interest in the old band was us having good relationships again.

Not to go into the weeds on the whole thing, but we were a family for a very long time, it just makes life easier to communicate. You can talk about the old days, you can have a laugh, you can see how each other are, you can check in, and sometimes there’s business things that come up where it’s easier to just talk about them than to have to go through a bunch of lawyers and stuff. So maybe that’s fueling some of the rumors. So of course when you get to the point where you’re in communication, and the relationships are good again, and it’s a good vibe, you yourself, and people around you who know what’s going on, start saying: ‘Is the band going to get back together?’ We’re not at that point, and I think that’s a good thing. We’re not rushing to something, we have to repair some things between us, and see what’s out there for us, if those opportunities are even there.”

Corgan stopped by and talked to Brian & Lou a few months back to talk about the Pumpkins acoustic/electric show at the Civic Opera House.

Here is Billy Corgan speaking on his new role in TNA iMPACT Wrestling and the future of Smashing Pumpkins.

Winter is coming and it’s going to suck

Chicago winters can be challenging with subzero temps, shoveling out your parking spot, and a wind chill that smacks you in the face like you owe it money so it’s worrisome to hear from the Farmers Almanac that our upcoming winter will be the “Return of the Ice Cold Winter”. The folksy forecasters at Almanac has been pretty accurate at predicting weater far in advance for decades, so let’s heed their warning and bundle up now in hoodies now.

To add to this, the National Weather Service has stated they expect 40 percent chance that precipitation levels will be above average levels January through April in a report with Chicagoist.

Let’s just hope we don’t have a repeat of the Blizzard of 2011 which was pretty difficult to deal with. Here is a video example of abandoned blizzard blasted CTA bus on Lake Shore Drive during the aftermath of the snow storm.

The Real MJ Hooking Up “Pickup Game MJ”

Fake MJ

Wow! An example of the internet ruining someone’s life! A few weeks a go video of a guy decked out in Jordan gear playing in a pickup game took off and it actually made it’s way to the man himself. Jordan saw it and hooked the dude,  Jeffery Harrison, up with a couple boxes of gear and a call.

High five to @DarnayTripp of KREM in Washington for the coverage!

Secret Chicago Hot Dog-Inspired Sandwich At Shake Shack

sschicago

(from chicagoist.com)

It’s all the rage for fast food spots to have secret menus—see everything “Animal Style” at In-N-Out burger—but we’d never heard about this menu item until recently. Shake Shack apparently has a sandwich that is, sort of, inspired by a Chicago hot dog.

Shake Shack has had a secret menu for a long time, but we’ve always assumed, based on our internet wanderings, that it wasn’t available in their Midwest locations. While Shake Shack’s representative officially didn’t have any comment whatsoever on the secret menu or its availability, a reliable inside source let us know about a few secret menu items available in Chicago.
