Filmed in what appears to be a well-timed rush after last night’s halftime show, Youtube comedian Gus Johnson and friends roasted the people who produced the ill-fated event which featured Maroon 5, Travis Scott, and Big Boi. The short sketch goes through the misguided decisions to not follow up on the massive internet movement leading up to Sunday’s big TV spectacular that was calling for a special tribute to ‘SpongeBob Squarepants’ creator Stepeh Hillenberg and other issues that have caused this year’s Halftime Show to get thoroughly roasted online today.
During the Super Bowl on Sunday, Bud Light released a few new commercials.
One showcased a collide with the HBO show Game of Thrones:
The Bud Light and @GameofThrones worlds collide #ForTheThrone. pic.twitter.com/6rSIYOFRTK
— Bud Light (@budlight) February 4, 2019
Many people loved the cross over between the popular show and beer. But their second commercial made sure to let you know they didn’t use corn syrup in their beer:
To be clear, Bud Light is not brewed with corn syrup, and Miller Lite and Coors Light are. pic.twitter.com/x6tWqdSRXN
— Bud Light (@budlight) February 3, 2019
Which, I guess, is good to know? The commercial is a bit confusing because it’s hard to understand what they wanted people to take away from it.
Really confused on Bud Light promoting No Corn Syrup. Was the ad dreamed up by the people who gave us Organic Gatorade?
— Darren Rovell (@darrenrovell) February 4, 2019
Plus they seemed to say Miller Lite and Coors Light multiple times, which got some people to just focus on the competitors.
Also said coors light like 5 times. Even if negative that’s all i heard.
— Jerry Ferrara (@jerryferrara) February 4, 2019
They weren’t the only one to take a jab at their competitors, Miller Light also took a hit at Bud Light.
At MillerCoors, we’re proud of our high-quality, great-tasting beers. We’re also proud that none of our products include any high fructose corn syrup, while a number of Anheuser-Busch products do. And Miller Lite has fewer calories, fewer carbs and more taste than Bud Light. pic.twitter.com/GeUUXqnSpc
— MillerCoors (@MillerCoors) February 4, 2019
But the most interesting reaction came from the National Corn Growers Association, whose mission is to “create and increase opportunities for corn growers.”
.@BudLight America’s corn farmers are disappointed in you. Our office is right down the road! We would love to discuss with you the many benefits of corn! Thanks @MillerLight and @CoorsLite for supporting our industry. https://t.co/6fIWtRdeeM
— National Corn (NCGA) (@NationalCorn) February 4, 2019
Which is understandable if they are supposed to help increase opportunities for corn growers, and the Bud Light commercial shows how they really aren’t helping corn growers.
That one tweet didn’t even show the full extent of how upset they were, as they proceded with one more tweet to call out Bud Light.
.@BudLight – We couldn’t say it better #yourecutoff #dumpdillydilly https://t.co/BiOKGrz9E1
— National Corn (NCGA) (@NationalCorn) February 4, 2019
Safe to say the NCGA isn’t too happy with Bud Light.
In case you missed it, Sunday was Super Bowl LIII, and the New England Patriots beat the Los Angeles Rams.
But that’s not what people are talking about today, it’s more on Adam Levine and his halftime performance.
In case you missed it here was Sunday’s halftime performance:
Compared to previous performances Maroon 5 has been considered the least memorable. But social media seemed to roast Adam Levine for his choice of wardrobe, or lack of as the show went on.
It all started with his shirt, which seemed to match with peoples household items.
Maybe the wardrobe department used an old curtain to make his shirt?
But the real thing that got to people on Twitter was his nipples showing. We can’t forget about the infamous Janet Jackson issue and the freak out over one nipple. People weren’t so excited to see the lack of reactions to Adam showing both of his nipples.
How come Adam Levine gets to show his nipples and Janet Jackson doesn’t
— Vivian Ho (@VivianHo) February 4, 2019
Poor Adam he showed his nips at the Super Bowl so now his career will be ruined like Janet’s. OH WAIT Never mind!!!!
— Glennon Doyle (@GlennonDoyle) February 4, 2019

— nyoldman (@NYDoorman) February 4, 2019
I thought they outlawed nipples on the halftime show
— Dan Wetzel (@DanWetzel) February 4, 2019
Why is it okay to see Adam Levine’a boobs and not Janet Jackson’s?
Asking for a friend.
— Aisha Tyler (@aishatyler) February 4, 2019
We are all about equality, so does this mean Adam has to go into hiding for now?
It wasn’t just the wardrobe that had people on twitter talking on twitter, but his dancing alongside Travis Scott was something people couldn’t help to make fun of.
Adam Levine tryna dance next to Travis Scott is PEAK white dad 💀💀💀💀 pic.twitter.com/2bPS9RHecT
— Tyler Conway (@jtylerconway) February 4, 2019
Adam Levine at the #SuperBowl halftime show is every white person at a wedding with at least 7 nonwhite people pic.twitter.com/FtNcqLIOBq
— Melanie Schmitz (@MelsLien) February 4, 2019
Unlike his other clothes issues, his dancing was more relatable for people so he got a bit of sympathy.
I find Adam Levine relatable in the sense that he looks just as awkward as me and every other white guy when he tries dancing at a rap show
— Scott McLaughlin (@smclaughlin9) February 4, 2019
The way Adam Levine looks when he is sort of half-dancing very near a famous rapper. That’s how I feel all the time.
— Sean Clements (@SeanClements) February 4, 2019
In the end, this year’s halftime performance wasn’t one for the books. But it did make for some good Twitter trolling!

Fortnite continues to takeover the gaming world in ever expanding ways, and that grew to even grander highs with a concert inside the game performed by Marshmello.
Panic! A 96 year old woman who writes and sings in a death metal band seems — on its face is pretty gimmicky. However, take a few minutes to check out this mini-documentary from The Atlantic — it’s a story about survival (from the Holocaust), about staving off aging (by keeping the mind and body active), and above all, about how to be completely unique in a world of conformity. — [eric]
Winter has officially come to Chicago. This weekend is the debut of Replay Lincoln Park‘s [2833 N. Sheffield Ave., Chicago] pop-up of “Game Of Thrones.” According to a write up from Forbes, you can sit on the iron throne….order a dragon flaming drink (among other themed-cocktails)….and pretty much visit everywhere on the iconic Westeros map — a Dothraki camp, Meereen, High Garden, Braavos, Kings Landing, Winter Fell, and even the Wall at Castle Black.
Check out the write up and photos from behind the scenes here. — [eric]

As we grow further into lives driven by technology, we have to help out the older generations that may not be as good dealing with screens as much we are used to. Inser this hilarious short sketch Youtube comedian Gus Johnson who plays a sassy but frustrated mom being helped by her tech-savy son who demands washes his hands before he touches her iPad. It’s worth sharing with anyone you know who has their head spinning when they are trying to setup a new phone or computer.

Chicago has always been stuck in this great debate when the winter time comes, pro dibs verses anti dibs.
Well, Goose Island is allowing you to speak your opinion on the debate during their release party of their, Great Dibs Debate Series.
Happening Saturday, February 2nd from 12 – 4 pm.
Make your stance known by ordering either a Pro Dibs or Anti Dibs.
Plus you can take part in their forum to express your stance even further. They’ll have two podiums where you can make your case for or against dibs, and if you sway their moderator you get some free stuff! (Also there might be some potential mayoral candidates at the event.)
The beer is a Porter, ‘Perfect after shoveling out from a snowstorm or sitting by the fire.’
So what are you, Pro Dibs or Anti Dibs?
Special thanks for Mike and Anne from Goose Island for bringing in some beer and talking about the event!
Alternative icons Green Day released their breakthrough album ‘Dookie’ on Febuary 1, 1994. It would go on to become one of the most generation-defining albums of the 90’s, along with Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind.’ It inspired millions and sold over 20 million copies in the process. It gave the San Francisco trio of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool one of the biggest followings in rock music.
101WKQX was blessed to have a press conference in the Lounge with the band before they played Wrigley Field a few years ago.
