Twin Peaks is one of the weirdest and darkest TV shows of all time, and it’s getting an upcoming revival on Showtime with tow big names from alternative music. The show which had it’s first run on network television in the early 90s, was a sensationally weird hit about an unsolved murder in a deeply odd town with nightmarish tones and deep mythology that rivials ‘Lost’. It isn’t enough that the show is coming back, but it’s got a huge cast of confirmed performers including Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails and Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam. Rolling Stone has the full story here.
If you don’t know enough about this show or simply want revisit it, check out this video from Screenrant detailing how the murder mystery in a small town was created.
If you enjoy classic alternative like NIN & Pearl Jam, then you should listen our 2 hour, weekly time machine with Bryan called Alt_Backspace. Listen to weekly episodes Sundays 10a-12pm or … @kevkellam

Jimmy Fallon hosted SNL’s hour long tribute to Prince over the weekend. It included his appearances on the show, sketches about him and video of Prince performing at the SNL 40th anniversary party.
Check out the entire show below and more over at Gothamist.com.
As if Pearl Jam wasn’t enough. They were joined by Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nathan Followill from Kings of Leon for their “Rockin’ in the Free World” encore on Saturday at New Orleans Jazz Fest.
Coachella is presenting it’s second weekend this year out in Indio, California with celebrities making appearances and people getting distracted by fashion, but the music is what it’s all about. Some alternative darlings made their dent in the fest and official performance videos were posted recently. This same festive good time will be ever present on June 18th at PIQNIQ, more on that here.
The Arcs – “Outta My Mind”
This live version will this joyful backup singers makes the chorus really pop for Dan Auerbach and company. .
Meg Myers “Motel”
We had the absolute pleasure of having Meg perform an intimate private set in our Studio & earlier this year (watch that 36 minute set here) so to see bring that vibrant talent to the big tent with palm trees blowing behind her band.
Joywave -”Destruction”
These Piqniq veterans bring a lush bottom end to this song with one of the funkiest bass lines in alternative right now. Singer Daniel Armbruster is proud of it, he proclaims on stage here that “this is the greatest song ever written”….um he may be right about that. Also check out that solid gold microphone?!
Nathaniel Rateliff & The Nightsweats “Out on a Weekend”
Rateliff and the Sweats delivered the goods at our recent No Dough Show at Basecamp. Not a single hip was without a shake and that same feeling continues here in California
Miike Snow “Gengis KLahn”
This Swedish outfit will be a part of the Lolla ‘16 line up this summer, so take in their live performance of this balld of selfish lovers. The horns and back up singers give it a real presence that differs in a unique way from the recorded version.

Silversun Pickups “Circadian Rhythm (Last Dance)”
It was worth staying up late to catch this set on a live stream. It was worth it to forget that I spilled snacks in my lap while singing along with this track of SSPU’s ‘Better Nature’ album. Despite the tech issue, Nikki Monninger powered through a tech issue on her vocal, which shows these guys are just pros . “Feel my body swoon, to hear you say my name”
Of Monsters & Men “Wolves Without Teeth”
OM&M have certainly become a force to be reckoned with. They previously performed on Coachella on a side stage but bring their Icelandic six-piece to the main stage here.
Cody Morris, 18, was arrested for putting soda in a water cup at an Arkansas Fast Food Joint. (Washington County Sheriff’s Office)
We’ve all done it before and we thought we could never actually get in trouble for it, but we guessed wrong! Someone finally got caught and arrested for filling up a water cup at a fast food joint with soda! Not only did this individual get arrested for filling a water cup with soda, but it’s also considered a felony! Obviously there is more to this story, but if you get caught just return the soda and apologize! Full Story Here!
While recording this episode the news of Prince’s death broke. Hear initial reactions. Plus weekend guy Russell talks about getting Pizza for Bastille Dan. Kevin is absent due to scheduling conflicts and Marconi makes him apologize for missing the podcast. As well as music from Lucas Graham.
Charlie Murphy has one of the best stories ever about Prince. If you haven’t seen the Chapelle’s Show skit in a while no might be a good time. By the way, this is very NSFW.
Lukas Graham came by the studio just in time for wALT\’s Vault! Listen to their stripped down versions of \”7 Years\” and \”Mama Said\”, plus a great interview below.
Update: 12:25 PM PT — The Sheriff’s department says Prince was found in an elevator at Paisley Park. They performed CPR, but were unable to revive him. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 10:07 AM.
His private jet made an emgency landing in Moline last week, but he appeared in concert the next night to assure everyone he was okay.
Forget the kiss-cam. This girl at an Atlanta Hawks game shows us we need a pizza-cam at every event from here on out. High-five for the double fist technique, too!
Eddie Vedder and his seven-year-old daughter, Harper gave the classic Batman theme a little update. This needs to find it’s way into Ben Affleck’s upcoming Batman movie.
Cubs manager Joe Maddon actually sees a benefit to the banning of his “Try Not To Suck” T-shirts at Busch Stadium. (READ MORE HERE)
Joe Maddon has the best attitude on pretty much everything. When I’m having a bad day I’m going to start asking myself WWJMD?? I know it’s an overused term but it’s true. He always seems to have the perfect reaction to negativity. Between him and Dave Grohl I think we might have the perfect human(s). GO CUBS GO!! – @marconibologna
With the fallout of Batman v Superman settling in, superhero moviedom moves on to the big collision in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Captain America: Civil War on May 6th. Now plenty of fans of Batman and Superman left the theaters expecting more from the anticipated DC super-clash, but the expectations of fans for the fight between Captain America and Iron Man is just as high. So how is ‘Civil War’ doing in initial reviews?
Apparently, it’s going to deliver the goods. Rotten Tomatoes currently has the film at 96% of early reviews. Some critics are throwing some hefty praise on it in comparison to other comic book films of the past. “[T]he best Marvel yet, with the greatest superhero action on film. It’s immense, marvelous action-packed fun” says Mark Hughes of Forbes. So breathe a sigh of relief fanboy and fangirl, Tony and Scott are going to go at it and it’s most likely going to be beautiful.
Of course Cap and Iron Man are not the only the characters doing battle for the future of the Marvel world. This movie based off a huge all encompassing story from Marvel comics draws a line between heroes who choose to fall in with the government’s demand for oversight and those who choose to live independent of the government’s new regulations, so it’s bigger than just the two leads. This draws more costumed super powered people into the fray with the first appearances of the new Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) in a MCU film. Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansen), Bucky (Sebastian Stan), Vision (Paul Bethany), and Falcon (Anthony Makcie) all return on different sides of this fight as well.
The sixth season of “Game of Thrones,” the hit television series based on George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” books, begins Sunday, but panicked fans are already dreading the show’s eventual end. Yet in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Martin hinted that the end might not really be the end for the HBO show.”There is certainly no lack of material” for a possible spinoff, Martin said. (READ MORE HERE)
I can see it now. G double R Martin and his magical dragon. (searched for fan art on Tumblr and it doesn’t exist so I know it’s an original idea, I did however find the cool picture of George sitting on the throne).
George and his dragon Sanbrakhanical (dragon son of Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons) are the main characters but each episode he arrives in a different town where he helps locals who desperately need his aged wisdom and wizard like powers all while his dragon fights and destroys anything and everything that gets in the way of those they have chosen to help. Only to mysteriously dissapear at the end of every episode as they fly off into the night heading to the next village to help others overcome the hurdles in front of them. I’d call it George and The Last Dragon Of Valyrian. You’re welcome internet!! – @marconibologna
Is Conor McGregor really done with UFC? Maybe. @TheNotoriousMMA (Conor McGregor) fired off a cryptic Tweet on Tuesday saying ” I have decided to retire young.
Thanks for the cheese. Catch ya’s later.” He was also pulled from UFC 200 because Dana White says Conor refused to stop training in Iceland to travel to Vegas to promote the fight.
Obviously, this could some sort of stunt or a negotiation tactic, but McGregor was ringside April, 9th at a fight between his teammate Charlie Ward and Joao Carvalho. Sadly, Carvalho died shortly after due to injuries from the fight prompting Connor to write…
“Terrible news regarding Joao Carvalho.
To see a young man doing what he loves, competing for a chance at a better life, and then to have it taken away is truly heartbreaking.
We are just men and women doing something we love in the hope of a better life for ourselves and our families. Nobody involved in combat sports of any kind wants to see this. It is such a rare occurrence that I don’t know how to take this.
I was ringside supporting my teammate, and the fight was so back and forth, that I just can’t understand it.
My condolences go out to Joao’s family and his team. Their man was a hell of a fighter and will be sorely missed by all.
Combat sport is a crazy game and with the recent incident in boxing and now this in MMA, it is a sad time to be a fighter and a fight fan.
It is easy for those on the outside to criticise our way of living, but for the millions of people around the world who have had their lives, their health, their fitness and their mental strength all changed for the better through combat, this is truly a bitter pill to swallow. We have lost one of us.
I hope we remember Joao as a champion, who pursued his dream doing what he loved, and show him the eternal respect and admiration he deserves.
Rest in peace, Joao.”
So, it’s very possible that being so close to something like this caused him to reassess his line of work. Time will tell.
