Excuse me while I hippy-out on you… but I LOVE farmer’s markets! A farmer’s market is like my superbowl. I love shopping for local produce and meeting the men and women who grew it.
When I first moved to Chicago I had some harrowing experiences trying to find farmer’s markets but Tanveer Ali with DNAinfo.com put together an amazing resource with all the markets listed AND you can find them by location using the map! Can you tell I’m excited?!?! Now let’s get out there and stock up on some kale!!
Full list HERE See you out there!! <3 @laurenoneil

The TV graveyard is getting some new corpses this time of year as word trickles out about what shows are getting cut or just ending their run of new episodes.
This year saw some major shows end their run like the Melissa McCarthy sitcom ‘Mike & Molly’ on CBS, while some other shows simply could not develop solid ratings to support another season despite having die hard fans like the Marvel based series ‘Agent Carter’ on ABC. Entertainment Weekly has a look at several noteworthy recent cancellations on the TV landscape here.

Here is a fitting look at quality shows that were cancelled too soon from WatchMojo
Cancellation has not the ultimate end for your favorite cult shows as some have been able to live on in reruns, renewed on new platforms like Netflix and other channels. The biggest example of this might be Family Guy was cancelled but renewed by FOX years later after big sales on DVD and revived exposure as a rerun on Adult Swim. The edgy cartoon lead by the mind of Seth MacFarlane became a pillar for the FOX network, and allowed other MacFarlane shows like ‘American Dad’ and ‘the Cleveland Show’ to get the green light. So don’t worry maybe your favorite canned show will come back online somewhere. What show that got let go too soon are you going to miss the most? Speaking of series finales, here is the Season 1 closer of our behind-the-scenes podcast Not Ready for Broadcast with our program director Troy Hanson revealing what is the future of 101WKQX and what goes into running our radio machine. Give it a listen and share it!
My high school talent was skipping school and (usually) not getting caught.
Mike Senatore, a senior at Ardrey Kell High School in Charlotte, N.C., just won every high school talent show ever.
Well done, sir. Video by Scottie Finanger.
Shia LaBeouf’s latest “work of art” is him hitchhiking around the country. No destination. That’s way he’s calling it “Take Me anywhere.” You can track him, too. He’s posting the coordinates at TakeMeAnywhere.vice.com.
Just in case you were wondering, there have been 336 Alt Rock songs to go #1 on the Alt Rock chart since 1988. There have been some great bands that have been #1 like AWOLNATION, Green Day, The Black Keys, Incubus, Foo Fighters, and more. But then there has been some not so great bands that today we would question how they even got to be #1. Don’t worry, I will spare your eyes from seeing those names in this post.
Our friends over at Consequence Of Sound did what none of us have time to do, make a list of all 336 #1 Alt Rock songs and rank them from worst to best! I’m not going to lie, seeing some of the songs that have made it to #1 really make me question our human existence. Then again, seeing some of the songs on the list that I forgot were great made it all better, at least a little bit! You can see the mega list HERE!
After looking at the list (if you have that much free time), do you agree with their top 10 songs? If you don’t, what would be your top 10?
I don’t usually post videos from my personal channel here but like you I love this city and this was a fun vlog to make. As you may know it’s the 30th anniversary of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. To celebrate Kevin and I visited the replica bedroom at the Virgin Hotel. Then we meandered around Wicker Park too. – @marconibologna
The Chewbacca Mask Lady or Chewbacca Mom (Candace Payne) made internet waves recently viral video of her busting a gut over purchasing a sound-making Chewbacca mask from a store and filming her genuine reaction. The video which drew 140 million views in 3 days online lead to her getting a very fun appearance on ‘Late Late Show with James Corden’ on CBS.
This interview gives you the feels, as this bright lady just enjoys all the recognition this silly video. When you truly like something laugh, geek out over the things you really like right? This lady geeks out in the greatest way possible. If you love Star Wars as much as Chewbacca Mom, check out these slight spoilers for the next movie. –@kevkellam
Hank Azaria broke out his Simpsons voices to close the commencement speech he gave at Tufts University.
One of the best parts of a Chicago summer is enjoying some outdoorsy time in one of our many parks but also summer is the season of big movies too? Both this seasonal pastimes are paired together with the annual Nights Out at the Parks program presented by the Chicago Park District throughout the city with many great movie screenings for free. Clearly, he is the danger. Especially when it comes to planning his 60th birthday party.
The person filming thinks the zookeeper needs help, but not before she gets her video.
Take your time. Get a good shot. He’s only fighting a wild animal.

Possessing small amounts of pot could become less criminal in Illinois, if Gov. Bruce Rauner signs a bill the House sent to his desk on Wednesday.
According to the legislation, those caught and possessing 10 grams or less of marijuana would face fines between $100 and $200, rather than facing a trial where they could end up getting a maximum sentence of six months in prison and a fine of up to $1,500. Additionally, the measure slightly loosens restrictions Illinois’ current zero-tolerance policy on marijuana and driving. Currently, drivers found with any trace of pot in their system—even if it was toked long before and they’re not impaired, can be charged with a DUI. Drivers found with less than 5 nanograms of THC in their blood or less than 10 in their saliva would be let off the hook.
Do you think this is a ploy for Gov. Rauner to gain some popularity with voters after being named one of the least popular Governors in the nation? Or perhaps give police one less thing they have to worry about in regards to making arrests? Do you think this could be a good way for the state of Illinois to profit and perhaps get the public school system back on track financially? Colorado and Oregon are two states where it seems to have worked well. In 2015 Colorado raised $135 million in taxes and fees. Is legalizing marijuana a solution to our states money troubles? – @marconibologna
If you get sick on the Tilt-A-Whirl, maybe you shouldn’t watch this new video from Garbage. Just sayin’.
The video is directed by Sam Bayer, who did Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” video and also the “Save Yourself” video for my band, Stabbing Westward. video.
Don’t forget to grab your tickets to see Garbage and the others at PIQNIQ! 😉 -wALT
The Red Hot Chili Peppers with singer Anthony Kiedis fresh off an emergency hospital stay, returned to the stage this past weekend with a festival headlining set in Columbus, Ohio. As we reported here last week, Kiedis was rushed to a hospital hours before the Peppers were to close out a festival lineup in California last weekend.
This marks the first performance in the ramp up to the release of ‘The Getaway’ their new album dropping on June 17th. This set also saw the band performing their new single ‘Dark Necessities’ for the first time. Listen to that and get a look at the band’s entire set list from the show here with Consequences of Sound.
Shortly before his return to the stage, Kiedis gave an interview to ET Canada where he revealed more info on his health and how this is effecting him in the future. Kiedis tells this great story about using the philosophy of ‘the show must go on’ with his career and it involves diapers…yep, diapers.
“It was a painful and sad thing to have to cancel shows, we don’t really do that, I’d rather play deathly ill than not at all but in this particular instance I was starting to go down to the ground. I got some help and now I’ve got to figure things out. I surf most days and I like to charge, but every now and then, the body is like, ‘You’re doing something wrong, either fix it or we’re gonna let you know about it,’ and I think that my body let me know that I had to change my ways a little bit.” – Antohny Kiedis RHCP
