So with the Allstate Arena sold out tonight and the United Center already sold out for January, Twenty One Pilots has become a gigantic force of fun the world over. Now that’s obvious today but it’s a delight to relive this  April 2013 intimate performance we put together with JBTV before their meteoric rise to the top of the charts. It was as special then as it is now.
Yes, ‘intimate’ with the crowd of a less than 100 people right on top of the stage and all of it documented in pristine HD. Don’t doubt that this performance is anything less than the arena spectacle that Tyler and Josh are getting used nowadays, they still deliver the goods in the grandest scale here. In Germany today, 71 people were injured when lightning struck the Rock Am Ring festival with severe storms rolling across Europe. Of those injured, 8 of them were considered serious according to the BBC with some being resuscitated on scene. More than 90,000 attendees were told to seek shelter in cars and large tents at the site of the fest as another thunderstorm approached in the early morning hours.
Rock Am Ring in it’s 31st year as one of the biggest music festivals in Germany, was suspended due to today’s weather concerns.The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Deftones, Foals, and several other bands were scheduled to perform today. Festival organizers told local media that the festival would resume once the weather improved later today.
In a separate incident last year at Rock Am Ring was struck by lightning, 33 people were injured.
Let’s just hope everyone is ok and safe coming out of this. No one ever goes to concert ever expecting this type of awful thing to happen.

Muhammad Ali has died in a Phoenix-area hospital where he was battling respiratory issues … according to multiple reports.
The legendary boxer and humanitarian was 74 years old. He had checked into the hospital on Thursday and reps said he was in fair condition, but on Friday his health worsened throughout the day. NBC News first reported his death, quoting a family spokesperson. (READ MORE HERE)
Ali, born Cassius Clay, changed his name and converted to Islam in 1964. He also famously refused to enter the Vietnam War in 1967 as a conscientious objector.

According to an article published this week by Redeye, ice cream company Cornetto has made a tech-savvy solution recently with the internet-connected rings to keep your binge-watching fidelity.  Yes, an ice cream company. We don’t know why they specifically are involved but you scream, I scream, we all scream in anger when we walk in on our lover suddenly four episodes ahead of us on ‘House of Cards’. This sad yet needed turn in the page of modern day humanity was revealed in this video below.
The solution is two rings that link up to an app, you then register the rings and the shows you stream together. If the two rings are not close enough, the app will prevent you from watching the streaming TV shows you watch together. Now if you take off the ring and watch the show you can get around it, but you know that’s never a good sign when bae takes off their ring.
This sounds like a ingenious joke but these rings are real but are not available just yet as Cornetto is working out deals with streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and others. Star Wars continues to be as awesome as ever this week with this recent faux-political ad against Princess Leia which plays into the upcoming novel ‘Star Wars: Bloodlines’. The story of the SW book features a side story where the rebel leader runs for office. This must-see video was crafted as a part of the full length web show ‘the Star Wars Show’ which is serves as video vessel to reveal big new nerd bombs and engaging conversations for fans on Star Wars official Youtube channel.
The jokes in this ad really dig deep for any Star Wars fans but if I was voting on the planet Alderan, Leia would get my support. At least this is a story about politics you can share on Facebook without making people fight in the comments, unless they are very loyal to Darth Vader.

There was plenty revealed in the open chat including how the team goes about getting bands on the fest  and what are the challenges of producing a festival this. Some big info came out of the chat including the dismissal of a rumor that Green Day may play this year’s festival in Douglas Park. We had tried to book Prince, but unfortunately, things didn’t work out.
Whats the process to get some bands to play full albums at Riot Fest? Several bands on past RF lineups have performed some of their classic albums live and in their entirety like Weezer did with the ‘Blue’ album in 2014. Â
95% of the time it’s coming from us. We ask the band if they can do it. Like this year Social D is playing White Light, White Heat, White Trash on the anniversary of it’s release. And also Rob Zombie to do Astro-Creep : 2000. But  the Hold Steady came to us and asked if they could play it.
One redditor asked about legendary rapper Snoop Dogg reportedly have the length of his set adjusted due some issue.
There are some people who are functional when they are high, and some people who aren’t. We are the former.
Will Riot Fest run in other cities beyond Denver and it’s home base of Chicago? Whats the future for RF?
I would love to do a Riot Fest one day in my own home town of Buffalo, but right now, it’s just not feasible. That’s where I caught my bearings on my early musical influences, they came from their, all my early shows, and my history is in that city. I would be so happy to be able to do that one day.
I also participated in the AMA and as someone looking forward to the mid-September fest here in IL, wanted to know if the Denver Riot Fest would be live streamed online officially so that I could get pumped up for the live show in Chicago?Â
I think they do a disservice to the band because I have yet to see a live stream that actually duplicate the experience of seeing performances live. It’s something that’s almost impossible to capture even with 100 cameras on them because it doesn’t capture the intangible elements that make an outside live show special. That’s generally has to do with the nonverbal excitement that fans have in front of their favorite bands. If someone shows me a way to capture that excitement, I’ll be the first one to do it. The streaming companies also don’t pay sh** to the bands, so f*** them.
How the heck did they get the original Misfits back together to perform their first show in over 30 years?

On the recent news that Morrissey might not play Riot Fest this year though he was announced for it in May:
He confirmed awhile back, and if there was any miscommunication it wasn’t from our end. The media put a complete spin on it. There was never a doubt that he was going to play.

A few weeks back the world wanted to know if an online rumor-mill was going to usher back the timely return of Rage Against the Machine in an election year, but what we got was something slightly different, unique, and more than the expected with acclaimed MCs B-Real of Cypress Hill and Chuck D of Public Enemy combining forces with RATM’s guitarist Tom Morello, drummer Brad Wilk and bassist Tim Commerford. The group operating under the provocative name Prophets of Rage, took the stage for their live debut last night at L.A.’s Whiskey-a-Go-Go to a captive sold-out crowd. Based on early reviews, it seems like the politically-charged mash-up is delivering the goods.
As was expected the group heavily aimed their musical weaponry at Republican candidate Donald Trump, going as far as to offering ‘Make America Rage Again’ satirical trucker hats playing at their merch table. This targeting of Trump continued with Chuck D proclaiming before PORÂ went into an on-point cover of the Beasite Boy’s classic ‘No Sleep ’til Brooklyn’, Â “No Sleep ’til Cleveland”. This could be a veiled tease reference to a very rumored show the band may be putting on in Cleveland, Ohio during the GOP convention in July.
Obliviously a lot of fans are still thinking why RATM front man Zach Del Roca is not just back for a full fledged reunion and that elephant in the room was addressed on stage. “There’s always a seat warm for Zack De La Rocha,” said Chuck D according to a detailed live review by Consequences of Sound. Let’s see where that issue goes.
