The cast of the ‘Ghostbusters’ reboot starring an all-female cast with Kristen Wig, Mellissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon had a ‘surprise’ meet up on last night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live with the cast of the original film. It was neat to see Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Dan Akroyd, and Annie Potts reminiscence about filming without permits on the streets of New York.
Bill Murray joking about how the cast could steal more than just shots on the street, but also any item from any convenience store especially when you have a proton pack on your back.
So despite the debate about the quality of the upcoming ‘Busters movie, it was interesting to see how the new and old casts blend together to discus where the series is going. “It’s a tough movie to pull off, there is a lot of expectation.” says Murray but said he loves the new cast members because they are funny. He also quipped that he was the “stepfather” of the new GB team.
And what would this Ghostbusters good time be without a live performance of the famous theme song from Ray Parker Jr.?!

Winter in Chicago is a challenging period with the windchill that makes you question your existence and the depressing slush puddles that linger into March, but the coldest season does provide some seasonal joys like ice skating. So why not continue that into the summer?
Navy Pier the summertime destination for locals and all the people visiting that will make traffic on the weekends rage-worthy, is opening an indoor ice skating rink in the recently constructed Polk Bros Park. Tickets will range between $10-15 with operating hours of noon to 10pm every day. It opens to the public tomorrow at 12pm. The rink is 82 feet long and 66 feet wide. It will stay up through out the summer underneath a massive tent with tech installed to keep the ice frozen even during the warmest days this summer. You can bring your own skates or rent a pair.
The rink is inspired by the Polk Bros. summer season ice rink that was originally built to attract customers to their near by furniture store over 50 years ago. The recently constructed Polk Bros Park sits directly outside the western entrance to Navy Pier.
There are several other big expansion coming to the Pier as part of their 100 year celebration in the near future including additional space for the Chicago Shakespeare Theater and a new on-site hotel. If you can ice skate, watch fireworks, and see a movie in IMAX in the same spot, that sounds like a pretty cool spot.

While Chicago baseball fans continue the timeless Sox-Cubs feud this summer, there’s one thing we can all agree on: There are some awesome baseball movies.
White Sox players recently revealed their favorites.
Brett Lawrie, second baseman
“The Sandlot.” It’s a movie I watched growing up as a kid. One of the first baseball movies I watched growing up as a kid. It goes hand in hand. I think the biggest thing to take [from the movie] is that there’s no thoughts, no cares. It’s just about baseball, playing baseball and keeping it simple. It was an easier time. Keeping it simple I think is the biggest thing. They’re a group and they’ve been a group for an extended period of time and they just continued to build [on] that.
That’s what we do in here. We see each other every single day, we do the same thing every day. We see each other more than we see our families in here, so it’s important that we hold each other accountable and have fun in here and get it done. (READ MORE HERE)

MMA star Kimbo Slice died this evening in Florida from heart failure at the age of 42. Bellator’s CEO confirmed the news to TMZ, saying:
We are all shocked and saddened by the devastating untimely loss of Kimbo Slice, a beloved member of the Bellator family.
Slice, born Kevin Ferguson, rose to fame in the aughts as a viral street-fight star. He made his MMA debut in 2007, and won his UFC debut in 2009. He continued to fight on and off up until this year, when he knocked out Dada 5000 in February. (READ MORE HERE)
Things are fun and different in Japanese pop culture, and today’s viral video of characters from the horror movie franchsises ‘The Ring’ and ‘the Grudge’ playing baseball at a stadium game is another example of this. The scene was meant to promote the upcoming ‘Sadako vs. Kayako’ film which pits the characters of the two film series against one another in a ghoulish ghost-on-ghost showdown. It’s basically Japan’s equivalent to 2003’s ‘Freddy vs. Jason’ but this video takes that marketing to new oddball levels in the most intriguing way.
The best part is that ‘the Ring’ character launches a 96 mph pitch which gets a solid hit by the monster from the Grudge. Oh but she’s too mangled by the troubles of the afterlife to run the bases, so she has a creepy little boy ghost run as her designated runner. Now let’s play baseball!

This is the Kickstarter for a real Game Of Thrones ‘Hodoor’ doorstop. $37 will get you a 6-inch Hodoor provided they successful secure licensing rights from HBO. That is a pretty expensive doorstop, especially for a plastic one. (READ MORE HERE)
I like this idea, as a Game of Thrones fan I’d probably buy it but the price seems a bit high. Also for $37 this “Hodoor” should open door too!! – @marconibologna

The newest video by prolific YouTube comedian/impressionist Brock Baker brings back all of your favorite (and some forgotten) characters of ’90s Nickelodeon. The charming and frenetic video features household staples Ren and Stimpy but also reaches a little further with CatDog’s Dog (no word on Cat’s whereabouts) and the terrifying but sweet Krumm from Aaahh!!! Real Monsters. (READ MORE HERE)
So many memories come flashing back. Like the time I was supposed to be doing homework but I was watching Ren & Stimpy instead and my mom walked in. She would’ve been happier if I was looking at a website with adult films. I was only grounded for a month. Totally worth it. – @marconibologna

We’ve all been there. Have (more than) a few drinks one night and get a surprise box on your doorstep a few days later… it’s almost like another Christmas!
The worst I have done is probably an overly huge QOTSA merch order… but my friend Skip Sampson from 1603 Tattoo Collective in Tampa has made the drunk shopping purchase to outdo them all.
He ordered a pet #$%@^#$ FALCON.
A PET FKN FALCON!!!!
Actually, I think they sent him a hawk instead…
BUT STILL!!
“Hey Skip, I’m headed back down to Florida in July, can I get in your chair for a quick tat?”
“Yeah, would you mind holding my PET FKN FALCON WHILE I WORK?”

I knew something was up when I saw Prophets of Rage posters in Wrigleyville last weekend, and now it is official…
The Prophets Of Rage are coming to the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre on Sept. 3rd!
Tickets go on sale Friday the 10th at livenation.com and a portion of the proceeds from each show will benefit a local homeless charity.
From the press release:
“Assembling as a politically-charged response to 2016’s tumultuous election year, the newly-formed PROPHETS OF RAGE, features TOM MORELLO, Tim Commerford, Brad Wilk, Chuck D, B-Real and DJ LORD. Best described by Morello as an, “elite task force of revolutionary musicians determined to confront this mountain of election year bullshit,” the group combines the sonic firepower of Rage Against The Machine, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill. The band has said that “dangerous times demand dangerous songs” and has fans using #MakeAmericaRAGEAgain and #TakeThePowerBack to engage across social media. In what the LA Times headlined simply as “REVOLUTIONARY,” the band’s mission is clear, promising “No Sleep till Cleveland,” the home of the 2016 Republican National Convention this July, where they have a planned performance on July 19th.
Following two sold-out shows at The Whisky and The Hollywood Palladium that had thousands of hopeful fans lined up in Los Angeles this week, and a sold-out show in Brooklyn at Warsaw Ballroom, the group has announced a national 35+ city North American tour, bringing their raging messages to the masses. The MAKE AMERICA RAGE AGAIN TOUR, will kick off in Cleveland, OH on July 19, in tandem with the Republican National Convention. From there the tour will include stops in Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Chicago, Nashville and Atlanta before concluding in San Diego, mere weeks before 2016 Election Day.”
