I could watch dogs dancing to Portugal The Man – ‘Feel It Still’ forever!!
(from chicagoist.com – It probably won’t look like this…)
After plans for the George Lucas Museum foundered, former executives from the Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium realized that Chicago was hungry for another museum. Lucas’ proposal didn’t hit the mark—Friends of the Park blocked it from locating on a stretch of lakefront—but these execs realized that otherwise the public, donors and the city itself was ready. That’s when they began hatching a plan to bring a new museum to the city. They set their sites on a museum focused on sports, aimed not just at diehard sports fans but also students. There are Halls of Fame all over the country, but they tend to be set in smaller towns and focused on a single sport. And they tend to be less interdisciplinary and more focused on memorabilia.

Marijuana advocates are trying to lay the groundwork for Illinois to become the first state in the Midwest and the ninth nationwide to legalize recreational pot, arguing the move will help solve the state’s notorious budget crisis. Two Illinois state lawmakers introduced legislation last week that would allow residents 21 and older to possess, grow or buy up to an ounce (28 grams) of marijuana and license businesses to sell marijuana products subject to regulation. They say it would help fill Illinois’ multibillion-dollar budget hole with $350 to $700 million in new tax revenue. READ MORE
Remember this beautiful graphical flowchart of alternative? Dorothy, the UK artists who create prints inspired by music amongst others, are back with another map worthy of a look.
This time, its a world map labeled using only song titles. Over 1200, to be exact.
Some of them were obvious no-brainers: New York, New York from Sinatra, for one. But others were a little more creative. Using Joy Division’s “Isolation” to stand in for North Korea? Brilliant.
Most of your favorite alternative artists are represented somewhere on the map: Lorde, Green Day, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Kings Of Leon, OK Go, The xx, Panic! At The Disco, Muse, Red Hot Chili Peppers, R.E.M., Blur, 30 Seconds To Mars, Smashing Pumpkins, The White Stripes, My Chemical Romance. Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys…and I’m sure you’ll discover more.

I’m sorta fascinated with this Vocals Only thing. You see…they take songs…and drop everything except for the vocals. For instance, Twenty One Pilots:
Which then was spun into this parody, which made me chuckle….maybe because it would be funny if it REALLY DID sound like that when they filmed the video?
I consider myself a curator of the oddities you may have missed. Consider this mess of other songs that have the music dropped when you are bored. — [eric]
What can we say, if only this was the actual song used during the movie!

The animated band Gorillaz (Blur’s Damon Albarn and friends) made a pretty grand return to the stage on Thursday at PrintWorks in London. The performance saw the band play their entire new album ‘HUMANZ’ with cameo appearances by featured artists on the album including Oasis’s Noel Gallagher, Pusha T, De Le Soul, and Danny Brown. Before the show started, Albarn said he would not “introduce everyone (who joined the band on stage) because I’d spend the whole evening doing that.” Which makes sense as the new album which comes out April 28th has a noteworthy collaborator on almost every track. Get the full tracklist and more info on ‘HUMANZ’ here.
Watch the entire show in Facebook clips here.

It’s here. It’s been teased for weeks in a heavy social media campaign, the trailer for the anticipated ‘Justice League’ hit the web today. The DC superhero team-up brings Batman (Ben Affleck) together with a team of superheros against an undisclosed force. Last year at ComiCon, there was a delightful teaser that showed off Batfleck assembling the team and now we get see them in some of their smash, bang, and pow glory. The humor is spiced in there and it feels like we are going to get something special. So will it meet the ever-growing epic expectations for a comic book movie on this scale?
Comic Con trailers for Justice League, Wonder Woman, Luke Cage, and More
The DC Cinematic Universe in eyes of some, needs a hit with some delays being applied to some planned movies in that connected world and rumors that Affleck is possibly disinterested in being the Bat on the big screen. There was a lot of fans disappointed by ‘Batman vs Superman’ despite it bringing in a whole lotta money. This trailer should restore your faith in DC as it looks really fun and just reminds you of a balance of an apparent good story with delightful thrills of seeing a superhero squad together like we got in ‘the Avengers’. Yes, people are going to make those comparisons long after this action film hits theaters in November.
Also this trailer does not show Superman with the team, but if you read the comics or watch the cartoons, the last son of Krypton is supposed to be there. So maybe he’ll return from the sad events of ‘Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice’, not maybe just expect it, right?
How cool is this? This women, while walking along the streets, made a full song! I must say it is pretty impressive! Check it out below!

Bradley Reid had one simple question: Why did you fire my wife?
But he decided to ask her employer in an extremely public way — on Cracker Barrel‘s corporate Facebook page. He still doesn’t have an answer as to why his wife, Nanette, lost the retail-manager job she held in an Indiana Cracker Barrel for 11 years. But he does have an army of wisecracking trolls behind him. Once Internet pranksters caught wind of Reid’s inquiry, they flooded the Cracker Barrel page with comments about “Brad’s Wife,” the Internet’s new favorite meme. Pity the poor social-media manager behind the scenes, desperately trying to regain control by posting videos of mixed-berry pancakes. (MORE HERE)

A second floor, an open-air ledge and an attraction that would let visitors rappel from the 103rd story of the Sears Tower Skydeck are all included in a proposed $20 million renovation of the famous tourist spot. A recent report from Morningstar Credit Ratings obtained by Crain’s outlined the planned expansion of the Skydeck, which would be part of a more than $500 million renovation of the skyscraper. One of the more ambitious plans for the popular observatory is the installation of an enclosed, two-story glass structure, where daring visitors could rappel from the 103rd floor to the 102nd. If the idea of dangling from a rope more than 1,300 feet above the ground is a bit too extreme for you, a proposed Ledgewalk might be more your style. Visitors would be fitted with a safety harness and allowed to take a stroll on an outdoor glass ledge. (MORE HERE)

Celebrity chef Rick Bayless is coming out with a new line of frozen meals under his Frontera brand. The company, known for its chips and salsas, was purchased by ConAgra Foods last year for $109 million. The frozen meals will have a health-food focus and are inspired by Mexican cuisine; three flavors, chicken fajita, barbacoa taco and veggie taco, pictured above, feature “braised beef and black beans, three-chile barbacoa sauce, fire-roasted peppers,” among other ingredients. “Foodies around the country know Rick Bayless as the premier authority on gourmet Mexican cuisine,” ConAgra CEO Sean Connolly told the Tribune of the move.
