The four piece had requested a permit to film the music video for their new track, ‘The Violence’, in a field in Virginia which is covered in 43 giant concrete busts of former presidents. Writing in a Facebook post, the band explained that though the permit was initially granted, the Board of Directors who oversee the location “pulled” the permission as “They decided we were ’anti-government.’” (MORE HERE)
The most notorious serial killer in Chicago history, H.H. Holmes, was also a notorious con artist—so much in fact that rumors swirled at the time of his hanging that he actually conned his way out of the death penalty and escaped to South America. Now, officials in Philadelphia and descendants of Holmes are hoping to put that longstanding speculation to rest, by digging up the killer’s body from his final resting place. (MORE HERE)

Netflix has shared a trailer for an upcoming true-crime documentary series called The Keepers, a show that’s already being dubbed the new Making A Murderer.
The Keepers will be a seven-part series, premiering on the streaming service on May 19. The film was directed by Ryan White (Serena, The Case Against 8) and produced by Film 45 and Tripod Media. White, Jessica Hargrave, Josh Braun, Ben Cotner, Jason Spingarn-Koff and Lisa Nishimura serve as executive producers.
The film looks at the alleged corruption of police and the Catholic church in the US city of Baltimore, focussing on the 1969 murder of a local nun named Sister Cathy. It is claimed that Cathy was killed because she was ready to expose instances of sexual abuse by members of the church. (MORE HERE)
A new survey tried to figure out the “sex bases.” The consensus is: First base is kissing . . . second base is touching private areas but not genitalia . . . third base is hands below the belt . . . and a home run is sex. The survey also found that 74% of people learned about the bases from their friends or from TV . . . but 1% learned from their parents. And the average age they learned about them was between 11 and 15.

Having had personal experience with losing friends to suicide I know all too well what it feels like. I think the creators did a great job with this show. It has opened conversation on the topic and started a dialogue between parents and their kids as well as among friends. There is definitely some content that was difficult to watch involving rape and other violence. Again it does serve a purpose and I feel the story connects in a way that brings to surface many issues faced by those coming up through high school and as adults too. The underlined theme is to be better to each other. We hear it all the time especially when there’s a tragic situation. I think this show gets the point across very well and actually leaves you with a bit of hope that things can get better. Watch it if you haven’t already.
