If Disney buys 21st Century Fox, X-Men could join the Avengers in a moive?!

In a potential monster showbiz deal worth billions, Disney is in prelminary talks to purchase 21st Century Fox’s movie and TV studios, this would include cable channels like FX Network. The most alarming a part of this deal is that it could bring the Marvel superhero characters of X-Men currently owned by 21st Century Fox into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is maintained by Disney who has Marvel under their mousey umbrella. So the fan reaction at just idea of seeing X-Men teaming up with the Avengers has made comic book movie fans lose their minds.

It would be really odd to think the usually family-friendly Disney would also get FOX’s franchise animated shows like ‘The Simpsons’ and ‘Family Guy’ as well.

This potential arrangement would not give Disney control over the FOX national TV network, Fox News Channel, and local FOX affiliates like our local, WFLD. Considering that Disney already owns the national network ABC and America’s antitrust laws are pretty complicated so this could not be an easy to complete.

This could also see Disney acquire the rights to Deadpool and the Fantastic Four from the Marvel Comics.

And as with most things in the last few decades of entertainment, THE SIMPSONS DID IT! Yes, this potential deal was predicted on an episode of the FOX TV show.

CNBC broke the big bucks blockbuster story earlier today.

VIDEO: LCD Soundsystem once played a Sex Club in Ibiza

LCD Soundsystem are in full flight after returning from the dance rock grave recently with a headlining set at Lollapalooza in 2016 and a new praised album ‘American Dream’ and the James Murphy-led collective settle in tonight for hip-shaking three-night residency at the Aragon. The band is easily one of the most beloved in all of alternative, but sometimes you got to go through some weird out-there concerts to pack in big rooms like arenas and fill out parks for festival topping sets. Such is the case in this video from VICELAND with LCD’s keyboardist Nancy Whang who shared this demented NSFW work story on the show ‘Party Legends’.

It’s quite enjoyable to see Nancy’s r-rated tale punctuated by these animated elements sharing how odd it was to perform to 30 people inside an ‘Ibiza sex club’ right after all your gear gets lost on your flight. So you mix champagne and whiskey, and things get even weirder.

Worth a trip: Fat Elvis burger from Fizz Eatery

(from chicagotribune.com/redeye)

Elvis died early, but he made the most of his short life. He wore glittery jumpsuits, hung out with Nixon, had a private jet and his own super-estate, Graceland. Culinarily speaking, he totally didn’t care. I mean, the guy’s favorite sandwich was reportedly peanut butter, bacon and banana on white bread, maybe sometimes deep fried.

Unlike Elvis, and because I’m a food writer, I totally do care when it comes to food. Cooking and eating is my delicious obsession. As such, intellectually I’ve thought many times about Elvis’s predilection for mixing crazy stuff. And while I’m a believer in strange flavor combinations—like, say, soy sauce and chocolate (yep)—I still felt Elvis’s choice was probably just a bad drunken decision that was as pointless as his notorious habit of shooting TVs with guns, so I never really tried the combo.

Facebook has 60 Million fake users

Reports this week by Business Insider and AV Club revealed that Facebook, the champion of social media has 60 million fake users on their platform. The data was announced this week in profit announcement from Facebook, and  these fakes which are specifically identified as “non-existent people or ones not associated with a real account” make up 2 -3 percent of the 2.07 billion users on the massive FB universe.

So it does really win that argument with my friend that those supermodels who keep sending me friend requests are not real people but robots from a troll farm? Maybe….

It’s admirable that Facebook is being honest about this issue, especially with wide spread reports of foreign groups using the social media platform to influence political campaigns and scammers using these accounts to steal money from unknowing people.

The real fake is the Todd that jerk from high school who totally made fun of you all the time, but now wants to click ‘like’ on your friday night party post. No, Todd we are not ‘friends’. I follow you on FB so I can see the gossip about Sarah and you.

REVISIT: “Daylight Saving Time” Is Dumb, Dangerous

[A form of this  article originally appeared on 101WKQX.com March 12th, 2017]

Congratulations.  We added a hour to our day and we just CARRY ON LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED.

Daylight Saving Time (DST) is not for the benefit of farmers. as most believe.  It was intended to save energy, but the history of DST says that is debatable.  In fact, what DST is…well, is a horrible concept.

The time change messes with our sleep cycles.  Numbers show that heart attacks, strokes, and car accidents spike in the days after it happens.  The one last argument you hear is that the economy is stimulated by the extra hours of daylight after work.  Enter Bloomberg, who blows that theory out of the water:

“The study compared Los Angeles with Phoenix in the 30 days after the March and November time changes. Arizona is a natural test case since it’s one of the two states, along with Hawaii, that doesn’t do daylight saving. In the spring, according to the consumer transaction data, the additional hour of evening daylight in Los Angeles managed to slightly boost card spending per person, compared with that in Phoenix, although by less than 1 percent. That spending uptick is swamped by the negative impact of the November time change, which sees the darkened population of Los Angeles spend 3.5 percent less at local retailers.”

So why do we still do this?  We have plenty of traditions in this country that are worth keeping.  This…is not.  — [eric]

BONUS EDIT:  Check out this link to help further my cause.  If we keep change to DST and then keep those hours the same year round, we don’t lose those late-night sunsets we all seem to love.

BONUS BONUS EDIT:  You may not notice, but your body’s internal clock does.  And it might be dangerous.

Too Cute! Meet Sporty the Golden Retriever who walks himself

The Dodo blog may have turned us onto this, but this local Golden Retriever is too cute for human eyes. His name is Sporty and walks himself everywhere holding his own leash with his owner not far behind, as he greets everyone he meets. I had the pleasure of meeting the Sporty one last year on his birthday and yes, he was wearing a party hat.

Cute Alert!.

A post shared by Kevin Kellam (@kevkellam) on

Sporty even roughed it today in his own rain coat this weekend…ah, I can’t handle it!
