Black Mirror creator: Unsure if audience could ‘stomach’ new episodes right now

Black Mirror, the tech ‘Twilight Zone-like show that’s been just plausible enough to be completely unnerving, won’t be returning anytime soon. Creator Charlie Brooker says the pandemic has soured his enthusiasm for working on new episodes. He tells RadioTimes, “At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart.”

In the meantime, he says he’s working on scripts that make him laugh.

Baseball is back…

…but in South Korea.

Games are back on in South Korea, where the Korea Baseball Organization played five games yesterday.

That said, the games are definitely a reflection of the pandemic times:

  • They played to empty stadiums (no fans allowed).
  • No spitting is allowed. So much for players sticking that wad of chew in their mouths.
  • Masks are required for umps and coaches and optional for players.
  • Media and players have mandatory temperature checks before being allowed in.

If you’re missing your baseball fix, ESPN’s made a deal to air six games a week here.

NASA Says Tom Cruise Will Make a Movie on the International Space Station

It sounds like those rumors about TOM CRUISE making a movie in space were true.

Yesterday, a NASA administrator Tweeted, quote, “NASA is excited to work with Tom Cruise on a film aboard the [International Space Station].

“We need popular media to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists to make NASA’s ambitious plans a reality.

If this happens, it’ll be the first narrative, non-documentary film to be shot in space

West Virginia Governor drops an F bomb during coronavirus briefing.

West Virginia Governor Jim Justice is not putting up with your BS.

Things are going to start opening up after this 7 week lock down, but he doesn’t want people to be stupid. So he says it straight.

Keeping it real, I love that!

Hey everyone stay f*!*ing safe out there!!

What did Elon Musk name his kid??

Elon Musk and girlfriend Grimes welcomed a new born baby into the world, and the name they chose…

Not Geoff, not Jack, not Cletus.

They named it X Æ A-12.

No that’s not your computer glitching. That is a name… apparently.

So Grimes later posted the meaning behind the name, and no it still doesn’t make sense.

X Æ A-12 is going to have a very interesting first day of school. Especially since the teachers are going to have to solve a calculus problem just to pronounce this name.

Welcome to the world X Æ A-12! Good luck!

Stream hundreds of hours of 1980’s MTV

MTV changed the music world when it debuted in 1981 with it’s original culture impact bringing new adventurous music to the masses with wild visuals and an overall sense of cool. A wonderful person has revived all of that fun as it aired on TV with all of the VJ’s, interviews, outdated commercials, and of course the music videos featured in hundreds of hours of video posted on Internet Archive. Yeah, you won’t see any of reality shows that the channel is known for now. You can dive into this treasure trove of content here.

The first video in the collection shows MTV as it first signed on the air on August 1, 1981 with the epic moon landing themed opening that saw the Bungles ‘Video Killed the Radio Star’ as the first music video aired on the network.

Currently you can watch the footage for free which is not HD obviously, but it has a charming grainy VHS quality to it and you get see all of the memorable shows like the alternative music showcase ‘120 Minutess’, ‘Headbangers Ball’, and much more. The collection does require a log in, and it runs from 1981 to 1989. This is a must-see for any music fan even the younger crowd who just know MTV for everything post-2000.

If you want more 80’s and 90’s alternative musical gifts, listen to ALT_Backspace with Brian Phillips (Saturdays 6a-8a, Sundays 10a-12p) on 101WKQX. Stream us anywhere in the world on your phone, smart speakers, Alexa, and  the radio which we can confirm was not killed by the video star despite what you’ve heard.

Monkey on a mini bike tries to steal a kid off the street

There is a lot going on in this video. Not really sure how these events can all happen at the same time.

Apparently there are monkeys out there who can ride mini bikes… and they steal children?

You know what in this day and age, why am I even questioning anything.

That kid is hitting straight dingers out of the park at such a young age!

I’m sure his dad thinks he’s the next A-Rod or something.

Even if he’s wrong, what an awesome moment caught on camera.

Joe Exotic wants a presidential pardon

The wild outlandish Joe Exotic who has become the meme dream of our collective existence from the highly-watched ‘Tiger King’ docuseries on Netflix, made another ridiculous move this week: he is going to seek a pardon for his crimes by President Trump. TMZ reports this week that Exotic’s legal team recently covered a bus in a giant decal asking the President to do just that, and they are rolling out some other part of the  plan in the days to come.

It’s not as silly as it sounds. Consequence of Sound reported  that Trump stated he would “take a look” at the situation a few weeks ago.

Exotic is the former candidate for Oklahoma governor who ran a shady zoo for tigers, bred the exotic animals for similar exhibitors, and was convicted of plotting to pay a man to murder a rival animal exhibitor Carol Baskin in Tampa. Yeah, that’s the short and not-so-sweet version of it that you could catch up on the show which has sparked network TV specials and popular podcasts.

As if that was not enough news on the weirdest man of 2020, Nicolas Cage (who is quite the character off camera in his own right) is set to play Exotic in a scripted series for CBS Television that has been in the works since well before the Netflix series premiered. It’s not the only scripted TV take on ‘Tiger King’ as a SNL cast member is set to do version where she portrays Carol Baskin. Read more on that here.

It’s Britney B

Everyone’s favorite pop star (gone crazy) is back with a brand new story.

Apparently she burnt down her gym! And she is really feeling casual about it based on this video she posted to instagram.

Spears has been trying to entertain her followers all throughout the stay at home orders that people have been subject to due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

And based on that video… she is doing a great job!!

Micahel Jordan’s mom made him stop smoking cigars during the shooting of “The Last Dance”

In the first episodes of “The Last Dance” viewers were embraced by the classic Michael Jordan.

Drink in hand, and chewing on a cigar.

But where did the cigar go??

Turns out, MJ’s mom found out he was smoking on set. Needless to say, she put an end to that real quick.

Even at 57 years old you still have to listen to what mom says.

The Grim Reaper gives beach goers a visit in florida

People may be allowed to be at the beaches in Florida, but one man wants to make sure they know what their fun day in the sun may cause.

Maybe death himself can encourage people to just stay home.

Even if it is starting to make you go crazy… because protesting in a death costume is perfectly normal.
