Ali completed the Sky Rise Chicago challenge and climbed 103 flights of stairs

On Sunday morning, hundreds of people went up the Willis Tower (yeah yeah, Sears) stairwells, to raise money for a great cause. Sky Rise Chicago helps the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. They have a number of programs designed to enhance the quality of life for people who have lost ability due to serious injury or chronic conditions. Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is the global leader in physical medicine and rehabilitation for adults and children with the most severe, complex conditions — from traumatic brain and spinal cord injury to stroke, amputation and cancer-related impairment. The goal was $1 million dollars and they got pretty darn close with $970,000.

My goal was to finish the climb; there was no “race” for this girl. After 103 flights, I’m glad I went at a grandma’s pace. Slow and steady baby! Getting to the top was sweet, sweet victory, but the most beautiful thing was being able to climb next to folks who had gone through the programs at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab themselves. Seeing their results in action made it all worth it.

The Chicago City Christmas Tree Is Up

The city Christmas tree is up now in Millennium Park. It was selected from nearly 80 entries in the city’s annual hunt for a tree. The tree is 45 years old and is from a front yard in Morton Grove that a family used to decorate, until it just got too big. It’s the 109th annual tree and it will be on display through Jan 8th. Watch the lighting ceremony Nov. 18th at 6pm.

Cher doesn’t care what you think, she’s dating someone 40 years younger than her

Cher went public with her relationship with a 36-year-old music executive named Alex Edwards, or “AE” and people are talking. They don’t care that she’s dating someone, they care that there is a 40 year age gap between the two. She posted a picture of them on her Instagram, and one fan commented, “It would be naïve not to question a 34-year-old’s motives and intentions. Our girl is smart but they don’t say love is blind for no reason at all.” Cher did not appreciate the sentiment and let everyone know how she really feels- “Haven’t You Got Anything Else 2 Do⁉️ Let Me Explain…I DONT GIVE A✈️FK WHAT ANYONE THINKS.” I guess when you’re 76 you really do care less about what people think.

A crew member that called Brian, Ali, and Justin won $27k on Press Your Luck

This morning on Brian, Ali, and Justin, crew member Zach called in to talk about how he won $27k on a game show called Press Your Luck. The crazy thing about this story is that he was set to win over $400k, and tried to win the $1 million dollars. Instead, he hit a whammy- and ended up with $27k. He’s still a winner in our book. What did he do with the money? He helped his wifey buy a car, and got a nice kitchen backsplash; it really tied the room together nicely. Zach still tries to not think about all of the money that he could’ve had, he’s happy with what he’s got.

Here is the episode he was in-

This fact about Walgreens will blow your mind

We all love Walgreens and go there pretty frequently. The company, based in Illinois (woo woo!), has the slogan, ‘at the corner of happy and healthy.’ And did you notice something about every single Walgreens store? They’re ALL on a corner. Every one is located at the corner of happy and healthy. I was today years old when I learned that.

Man dressed as Pikachu ran from the cops on a lawn mower

On Halloween, a man dressed as Pikachu, was driving recklessly around the town of Roachdale, Indiana on a lawn mower. The 19-year-old erratic lawnmower driver was pulling a trailer behind him too, getting the way trick-or-treaters, and causing general concern. Deputies tried to pull over the man, and received a middle finger when he did. Then it was ON. The Pikachu driver tried to ram his vehicle into the police car. They chased him all the way home. He was later apprehended at his house and taken into custody.

“At this time, we believe Pikachu acted alone and no other Pokemon characters were involved in this incident,” Roachdale Police Department said, “However, we are not opposed to catching them all…”

‘Mattress Mack’ won $75 million by betting on his Astros

Mattress Mack made a seven figure bet on his hometown team, The Astros, and hedged the bet against his furniture company, Gallery Furniture. Jim McIngvale, known as “Mattress Mack,” cashed in tickets worth $75 million on Astros futures. The furniture chain offered customers that spent over $3000 at the store their money back if the Astro won the World Series. And they did. SO the $75 million won’t be a huge profit for him necessarily, the winnings will “mostly be paid out to customers through our promotion” McIngvale said. Either way, sportsbooks including BetMGM were giving him a ton of money.

“They’ll wire it to me,” McIngvale said, “That’s too much money to carry.”

Could that $1.6B dream turn into a nightmare? The worst case scenarios of winning Powerball

📷: Pexels/Olia Danilevich

This weekend’s Powerball jackpot is the third largest in lottery history, but I believe it was the famous philosopher Christopher Wallace that noted that with “Mo Money” — potentially come “Mo Problems.”

Becoming a billionaire overnight would be sweet — but it’s not without it’s problems. A ton of taxes, family squabbles, and a lot of chances to get scammed or lose it all.

Or worse. How about these horror stories?

  • A man who won millions — only to file for bankruptcy a month later.
  • A $30m winner who was murdered by a friend trying to get closer to the cash.
  • A West Virginia winner who not only lost his jackpot, but lost his family to overdoses.

USA Today runs down the horror stories for you here. And good luck —- play responsibly, win responsibly.

Wanna live in a van down by a river?

Ford wants to be your gateway drug into that van life. They just released Thursday their plans for the 2023 Ford Transit Trail that’s ready to be traveled in, customized, and lived in! The vehicle will be available in three cargo van configurations, including medium and high-roof models and a high-roof, extended-length version. The van starts at $65,000, and Ford is certain that they’ll have more demand than supply. Here’s a sneak peek at the van…

This little girl did something on Halloween that will restore your faith in humanity

Watch a young girl named Abby come across an empty bowl of candy on her neighbor’s doorstep on Halloween. She saw the bowl void of any goodies then did the unthinkable as a young kid, she filled it up with some of her own candy so that other trick-or-treaters wouldn’t be disappointed. The owner of the home, Kristina Kallman had put candy out in a bowl and left to go to a party. She later came back and saw what the little, generous, girl had done on her door camera. She showed her mom to let her know what a good job she had done raising her. Abby’s mom wasn’t shocked at all, she said it was just something that made sense to her daughter.

Watch this child prodigy remix “Wonderwall”- he’s only 6 years old

Meet Miles. He’s only 6 years old and he’s already more talented than a lot of adult producers. He has a natural understanding of music is definitely a child prodigy. Watch him remix “Wonderwall” into his own dance song. The best part is halfway through when he’s still drinking from a sippy cup. He’s still a kid after all, he’s our Wonderwall.

The White Sox just announced their new manager, Pedro Grifol

The Chicago White Sox just announced the replacement of Tony La Russa, the Royals bench coach Pedro Grifol. He’ll be the 42nd manager of the club.

White Sox general manager Rick Hahn said, “Pedro is a bilingual, modern baseball thinker who brings two-plus decades of experience in a variety of roles – bench coach, hitting coach, winter ball and minor league manager, director of player development and scout. He is an excellent communicator and an experienced game planner who brings a high energy and detail-oriented approach to leadership. He is committed to building an inclusive and cohesive clubhouse, and we could not be happier to have Pedro leading our club.”

Do They Belong To The Streets?

This poor girl needs to know if her boyfriend belongs to the streets. It sounds like he’s got a problem. He took the phrase, ‘if you don’t use it, you lose it’ to a whole new level.

My boyfriend watches a lot of porn and is hardly ever in the mood for sex. Does he belong to the streets?

Elon is going to charge you $8 a month for your blue check mark

Elon Musk is now planning on charging an extra $8 for Twitter’s ‘Blue Service.’ The sought after verified blue check mark is a part of it. It check means that your accountant, or your company’s account has been verified by Twitter as real. Musk said, those with the Blue Service would have priority with replies, mentions and search options and would be able to post longer videos and audios. They would see half as many ads. More than 80% of users said that they would not participate in a recent survey. 10% said that they were willing to pay $5 a month, but not $8. Bestselling author Stephen King tweeted: “If that gets instituted, I’m gone like Enron.”

A man won $30 mil in the lottery, and didn’t tell his family

A man who identified himself as “Mr. Li” collected his jackpot of about $30 million on October 24th, in the southern region of China called, Guangxi. He dressed up as a yellow cartoon to hide who he really is, and he has zero plans of telling his wife and kid. Why? ‘I did not tell my wife and child for fear that they would be too complacent and would not work or work hard in the future,’ he told the local news. He bought 40 tickets all with the same numbers- 2, 15, 19, 26, 27, 29, and 2. When he realized that he won, he took a train to the capital and stayed in a hotel over the weekend. He didn’t leave because he was scared of losing the tickets. He received his prize money on Monday, paid the tax, then donated a portion to charity. He’s been playing the lottery for over a decade and has stuck with the same several numbers for years now. Does he plan to tell his family in the future? Probably not.

Parents and children walk past a ‘haunted’ house on North 2nd Street during the 5th annual Trick-or-Treat on 2nd Street on Monday, Oct. 31, 2022, in downtown Fort Pierce. Hundreds of children and parents walked the sidewalks in costumes during the two-hour Halloween event. “Every year the downtown businesses like to give back to the community and we wanted a safe place for the kids to trick-or-treat,” said Beryl Muise, owner of the shop Notions, Potions, Candles and More.
