Be More Like Dave Grohl

DGPartyCUP

I was  going to talk about how cool it was to see Dave Grohl partying and having fun at the Grammy’s, drinking from a red solo cup. Then I thought maybe this would be a good time to remind everyone how fantastic David Eric Grohl is as a professional rock star and human. He’s been one of the most successful musicians for decades and yet still manages to be one of the coolest people alive. As a radio person sometimes interviewing an artist can be tough. Not everyone has the gift of gab. Sometimes an interview with a top artist can be downright painful. Never the case with Dave. He gets it and is always ready to go with a million stories and genuinely seems to be having a good time. He appreciates everyone who supports his music and doesn’t forget. I feel more people should take a note from Dave. He loves what he’s doing and even if he’s having a bad day we don’t ever see it because he always seems so positive and professional. The only time I’ve ever seen Dave get mad was in a YouTube clip of him yelling at a guy at a Foo Fighters show for starting a fight in the pit. That guy was promptly kicked out of the show. So my message to past, current and future artists. ALWAYS ask yourself, WWDGD? The basic answer is in three parts: 1) Be cool to people. 2) Have fun doing what you love. 3) Drink out of a red solo cup at the Grammy’s. Thank you Dave for giving us “The best, the best, the best, the best of you”…Ahem. Sorry. I’ll show myself out.

NO DOUBT WITHOUT GWEN??

davey-havok-no-doubt

As Gwen Stefani renews focus on her solo career, the remaining members of No Doubt are moving forward with a new lead singer.

According to Billboard, guitarist Tom Dumont, bassist Tony Kanal, and drummer Adrian Young have teamed up with AFI frontman Davey Havok. They’ve already recorded an album together, which they’re currently shopping to various record labels.

Billboard adds that they’ve hired Pat Magnarella (Green Day) to manage them, suggesting this will be more than just a short-term side-project. It remains to be seen what the new supergroup will call themselves, or when we might hear the album.

Name suggestions for the new group: Some Doubt, AFI + ND = A FIND, THE HAVOK, DEEP N DOUBT, DEATH CAB FOR DOUBTY…

Travis Barker Tracking Drums For A New Blink 182 Song

TRAVIS-TRACKING

Posted on Blink 182’s Facebook page a video clip of Travis Barker tracking a new song that was written that morning. Add Mark Hoppus on bass and Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba on lead guitar and vocals and you have a completed song. Full album scheduled out sometime this year!! I have high hopes for this version of the band as they’re definitely one of my long time favorites, but I already know I’m going to miss Tom Delonge. Either way I root for their success and can’t wait to hear these new tracks.

Coldplay’s Chris Martin to appear with James Corden on ‘Carpool Karaoke’

Screen Shot 2016-01-29 at 1.41.11 PM

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin will be the latest guest to appear on James Corden’s popular ‘Carpool Karaoke’.

The regular bit appears on Corden’s Late, Late Show and sees a musician or group join Corden in his car as they drive around Los Angeles and sing songs together. Other artists who have appeared on the segment before include Adele, One Direction, Justin Bieber and Rod Stewart.

Corden posted a picture of himself alongside Martin online with the caption “Y’all ready”. The next edition of Carpool Karaoke will be broadcast on Tuesday night. Maybe Chris will agree to do ‘Carpool Karaoke’ with Brian and Lou when Coldplay plays Soldier Field this summer.
