Possessing small amounts of pot could become less criminal in Illinois, if Gov. Bruce Rauner signs a bill the House sent to his desk on Wednesday.
According to the legislation, those caught and possessing 10 grams or less of marijuana would face fines between $100 and $200, rather than facing a trial where they could end up getting a maximum sentence of six months in prison and a fine of up to $1,500. Additionally, the measure slightly loosens restrictions Illinois’ current zero-tolerance policy on marijuana and driving. Currently, drivers found with any trace of pot in their system—even if it was toked long before and they’re not impaired, can be charged with a DUI. Drivers found with less than 5 nanograms of THC in their blood or less than 10 in their saliva would be let off the hook.
Do you think this is a ploy for Gov. Rauner to gain some popularity with voters after being named one of the least popular Governors in the nation? Or perhaps give police one less thing they have to worry about in regards to making arrests? Do you think this could be a good way for the state of Illinois to profit and perhaps get the public school system back on track financially? Colorado and Oregon are two states where it seems to have worked well. In 2015 Colorado raised $135 million in taxes and fees. Is legalizing marijuana a solution to our states money troubles? – @marconibologna

The Red Hot Chili Peppers with singer Anthony Kiedis fresh off an emergency hospital stay, returned to the stage this past weekend with a festival headlining set in Columbus, Ohio. As we reported here last week, Kiedis was rushed to a hospital hours before the Peppers were to close out a festival lineup in California last weekend.
This marks the first performance in the ramp up to the release of ‘The Getaway’ their new album dropping on June 17th. This set also saw the band performing their new single ‘Dark Necessities’ for the first time. Listen to that and get a look at the band’s entire set list from the show here with Consequences of Sound.
Shortly before his return to the stage, Kiedis gave an interview to ET Canada where he revealed more info on his health and how this is effecting him in the future. Kiedis tells this great story about using the philosophy of ‘the show must go on’ with his career and it involves diapers…yep, diapers.
“It was a painful and sad thing to have to cancel shows, we don’t really do that, I’d rather play deathly ill than not at all but in this particular instance I was starting to go down to the ground. I got some help and now I’ve got to figure things out. I surf most days and I like to charge, but every now and then, the body is like, ‘You’re doing something wrong, either fix it or we’re gonna let you know about it,’ and I think that my body let me know that I had to change my ways a little bit.” – Antohny Kiedis RHCP

We all have that list in our heads of who we think are the best cast members to ever take the stage on Saturday Night Live. Yes, it’s more than a year away from the next Star Wars movie but if your like most fans of the series you wanted Episode 8 right after you walk out of the theater after seeing Episode ‘The Force Awakens’. Well take this developing story with that intrigue but also a grain of salt as it’s not exactly confirmed, but we may have a name for the next Disney-produced space epic: ‘THE FALL OF THE RESISTANCE’. This video from Complex News compiles a leaked video and actuall info taken from people who scooped out a set where the next film is being shot. Looks like we’re getting a lot more light sabers duels and we can expect Luke Skywalker to throw down as well.
What do you think of this? The idea of Luke taking on Kylo Ren with Rey by his side is making me salivate like a dog looking at a steak. Disney, can we get the movie now? We really really want it!

So the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to drive up nerd excitement the world over with years of movies based on beloved comic book characters in the works. These include a third solo adventure with Thor and a fresh Spider-Man tale that ties into other Marvel flicks.
Marvel today released the cast for ‘Thor: Ragnarok’. It’s looks be quite an all-star lineup with Cate Blanchett as “the mysterious and powerful new villain” Hela, along with Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Karl Urban as Skurge and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/the Hulk. These new names join the returning Chris Hemsworth as the God of Thunder Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Idris Elba as Heimdal and Anthony Hopkins as Odin. It hits theaters on November 3, 2017.
Tom Holland made a big splash as the new Spider-Man in “Captain America: Civil War” with his brief yet endearing performance on Team Iron Man, and a post-credit scene built up momentum for the planned ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’. It’s a wonderful in-sync move by mega-studios Disney (owners of Marvel) and Sony to share the Spider-Man character in film, to tie the web-slinger to overall MCU world.
Variety reported today that an actor who earned a place in pop culture as a superhero could actually appear in the Spidey movie as a yet to be determined villain. Michael Keaton played Batman in two classic films from Warner Bros, was rumored to be a part of the film in an adversarial role but it was reported the film’s budget was bloated before Robert Downey Jr. could be secured to appear as Tony Stark/Iron Man. Now with Downey’s extended Marvel deal in place, all parties have been pleased and Keaton may once again be on his way to entering the web of our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Keaton has made some great movies recently in the last two Oscar best picture winners, “Spotlight” and “Birdman”.
Speaking of mentally unhinged men who dress like birds, Joblo is reporting that The Vulture will get the call up from Marvel Comics to appear in the film, making it the first time the winged villain has been featured in a Spider-Man movie. Another obscure bad guy the Tinkerer will join the Vulture in a reported plot leak, and will construct a powered suit with tech left from alien technology that was left behind in New York after the battles in the first ‘Avengers’ movie. “Spider-Man: Homecoming” hits theaters on July 7th, 2017.
Here is a bunch of neat scoops about ‘Homecoming’ and how it’s going to likely please a lot of Spider-Man fans.

BEHOLD, MORTALS! The world’s longest pizza! This massive pizza was certified this week by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s longest pizza in Naples, Itally. It took over a 100 chefs 11 hours on specially designed stoves to make the mega-za that is 6082.2 feet / 1.15 miles long in Neapolitan style.
If you don’t get impressed by this, you also don’t like really cute puppies and sunny afternoons. If we would spend more time making pizza like this, we would be able to stop all the bad things in the world…maybe that is just the way I see it.
We here at 101WKQX stand by our commitment to all things piz and za with our recent blogged journey to the Chicago Pizza Summit in April where upcoming Riot Fest 2016 performer Andrew WK gave the keynote address. Check out that story here. and while we’re at it, enter to win Riot Fest passes here.
If Marconi stops showing up to the studio later this week, we know he will have left us to travel to Naples and show praise for this man-made wonder of sauce, bread, and cheese. Tweet us your thoughts @101WKQX about this magnificent milestone of marinera. -@kevkellam
Daniel Craig is reportedly done being James Bond according to the Daily Mail, after turning down a major money offer from MGM. The English actor has played 007 since 2006, starring in 4 successful bond films including last year’s Spectre. The number Craig turned down was said to be in the neighborhood of $100 million for two more films as Bond with endorsement deals, an overall profit share, and producer role.
Craig was quite public about his disinterest about being film’s most famous secret agent on the press tour for Spectre when he told one interviewer than he would rather “slash my wrists” than play the role again but would later back off that statement. Another reason he might turn down the role was that he was suffering a chronic knee injury which may have occurred during the filming of Spectre.
As if this news was not enough to process, there is widespread rumors today that Tom Hiddlestone who played Loki in the Avengers and Thor for Marvel, could possibly be next man to be shaken (but not stirred) into the role of James Bond. Hiddlestone was reported to be meeting with Bond director Sam Mendes earlier this week, but his representatives shot down the rumors. UK betting outfit Bookmaker Coral suspended bets placed on Hiddlestone getting the role after a huge amount was rapidly placed on him gaining the role this past weekend.
What do you think about the shake up with 007? Do you think Hiddlestone is the right man to play the role? Send us your thoughts on Twitter @101WKQX and FB.COM/101wkqx

More details out today on what looked like a possible Rage Against The Machine reunion… which is not exactly what is coming at us.
Tom Morello, Brad Wilk and Tim Commerford are involved, but Zach De La Rocha is not.
Add in Chuck D of Public Enemy and B Real of Cypress Hill, and you now have the Prophets of Rage.
The site prophetsofrage.com is actually working for me today, and I was able to put my email in.
The band will make its debut at the Hollywood Palladium on June 3rd, with a second show planned at the Whisky a Go-Go in Los Angeles.
A summer tour is also being considered. More from Billboard.com HERE
Rage Against the Machine’s full lineup has not performed since July 2011. I was lucky enough to see them at Voodoo Fest in New Orleans back in ’07. And I would LOVE a RATM reunion proper, but I am pretty stoked about the Prophets of Rage… what do you think? Hit me on twitter: <3 @laurenoneil
Mentioned the movie “Hot to Trot” this morning. If you’ve never heard of this awesomely bad Dabney Coleman/Bobcat Goldthwait movie here’s what you’re missing…
Yep. John Candy is the horse. It’s a must see.

It’s coming down to the wire for Double Door.
The Wicker Park club’s landlord, Brain Strauss, is still trying to evict the music venue, claiming they didn’t give him the proper notice they wanted to renew their lease. The club owners maintain they did, but have admitted that they did not send the request via certified mail, which has complicated matters when it comes to proving the timing of the renewal request. There’s already a real estate listing out on the club’s Wicker Park space. the Tribune reported that representatives from both sides met with a judge behind closed doors Thursday, and are continuing talks in hopes of keeping the case from going on trail on May 18. (READ MORE HERE)
I don’t pretend to know anything about the business goings on here, but I can only imagine the building owner is thinking about how much more money he can make with a new tenant paying much more each month. To that, look I totally understand it’s business blah blah blah. Being real though if you OWN a building in Wrigleyville I’m guessing you’re doing ok. So why not be the hero here and take a loss and save a local venue that means so much to us as music fans in Chicago. We love Double Door plain and simple. Maybe even MORE than you love money. 15K people is just a fraction of the love this place has. Don’t drag this out in a long expensive court process. Just come to an agreement and settle this like gentlemen OK!! GRAZIE!! – @marconibologna

As a night DJ on 101 WKQX I’m always ambitious and have ideas of things I want to do after I get off the air at midnight. Usually I just end up going home thinking about how much I need to clean my apartment or go to the gym. After a few hours of that + searching for something to watch on Netflix I usually can only drift off to sleep when I start writing articles for the websiiiilkh oytyit…ZZZzzzzzzzzzzz – @marconibologna

This weekend Ferris Fest kicks off in suburban Lake Forest and Northbrook, the home of the characters in John Hughes’s classic film, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Festivities include a 1986-themed dance, visits to filming locations and a special screening of the movies at the John & Nancy Hughes Theater. However, one of the event’s most anticipated attractions will be taking up residence in the Loop.
Organizers of the event previously announced that Ferris Fest attendees would be able to visit a painstaking re-creation of Ferris Bueller’s bedroom. Now, they’ve revealed that the bedroom will be hosted by Virgin Hotels Chicago and will be accessible even without a ticket to the festival. Admission to the bedroom, which will be on view from 9am to 5pm on May 20, 21 and 22, is $10 and can be purchased from the Ferris Fest website. (READ MORE HERE)
This movie is everything. I love watching it knowing where each scene was filmed and noticing how much Chicago has changed all the while it’s stayed wonderfully the same over the years. I will absolutley be visiting this room. If you end up going make sure to tag me on social media. Also I highly recommend Miss Ricky’s Diner inside the Virgin Hotel. It’s a bit more expensive but everything is fantastic and they have tons of great beer on tap. – @marconibologna
