New Red Hot Chili Peppers Video ‘Goodbye Angels’

One of the funkiest and thrilling tracks off the latest RHCP album  ‘The Getaway’ gets an indie movie style music video. Flea’s bass break near the end of this track that jumps into this chaotic guitar/drum attack from Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer is just a tornado of sweetness. It falls after these engaging lyrics about this very conflicted and stressed person. it’s easily my favorite song on the album.

The video features a female running from one social interaction to another stealing beer, making out with random people and it just infers she is running from a lot more than security guards with dogs.

The Peppers have been on a good streak recently with hit music videos. Another track off ‘the Getaway’ called ‘Go Robot’ drew more 11 million views showing off Anthony Kiedis as a ‘Saturday Night Fever’ style mime who must find his fellow body painted lover in a disco party that features Chad as an noneffective bouncer.

NERD ALERT:  Some guy made a linguist listen to Blink-182 to analyze their very distinctive accent that some memes find —- irresistible.  So why do a lot of pop punk bands sound like that?  Because you kinda want to conform and sound like bands that are popular in your genre, according to the article.  I think Green Day would have been a better model for the study, no?

RADIOHEAD HELD BACK SONG BECAUSE “IT WOULD HAVE SOLD MORE RECORDS”

OK Computer celebrates 20 years with a reissue on June 23rd, including three songs held back from the album.  One of them — called “Lift” — was “subconsciously held back” because the band thinks it would have made them more popular…and “sold more records” as a result.  That’s such a Radiohead thing.

I was watching CBS This Morning this past Saturday.  Not my finest moment, to be sure.  But there I was, coffee in hand, nothing but “rabbit ear” TV, and attempting to join the living world around me again when Jack White suddenly appeared on the screen.

This video gives you an introductory look at what the White Stripes frontman has built in Nashville.  Some things we learn:

  • Third Man’s eight German-made vinyl presses are the first new ones to be built in around 35 years.
  • Their catalog of artists is quite eclectic:  it includes vinyl records from a famous auctioneer.
  • Jack’s past career in furniture upholstery bleeds over into the attention to detail in the packaging of the records they offer.
  • Third Man is no longer just a passion project:  vinyl sales are expected reach into the billions this year.  That’s with a “B.”

Wubba lubba dub dub! ‘Rick & Morty’ RickMobile is coming!

Wubba lubba dub dub! 

The team behind ‘Rick & Morty’ continue to tease their hungry masses of fans who await the 3rd season of what is maybe the best animated show on TV right now. They got it going with an April Fool’s premiere of the first episode of Season 3 online via Adult Swim’s streams, and now it looks like the show is going on the road. The ‘RickMobile’ tour is making it’s away across America and will roll into Challenger’s Comics on June 1st with 3 hour visit giving fans a chance to buy exclusive merch from 6 to 9pm. It’s right off the Western Blue line, a spot where I once lost my cellphone and got it stuck on top of a support beam for three days. Ask me about it’s a story as ridiculous as an episode of R&M.

This whole thing is being called the “Don’t Even Trip Road Trip” because why not, right? \If you are driving this awesome vehicle you have Rick’s butt right above you. That’s how you travel in style. And that’s how the news goes….

 

 

Mark Hamil surprises Star Wars megafan Adam Scott on live TV

Always lovable actor Adam Scott is a big Star Wars fans and he lost his mind when he got a surprise meet up with Mark Hamil on last night’s May-the-4th-be-with-you edition of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’. “This really is one of the best moments of my life” remarked Scott. Now if only ‘the Last Jedi’ could come out now, we’d all feel the same right? Check out the trailer here. 

I have been enjoying all of the guest hosts filling in for Kimmel this week. they are making it interesting TV with moments like this.
