Never Before Seen Kurt Cobain Art

(from nytimes.com)

Two never-before-exhibited paintings by Kurt Cobain will be on display at the Seattle Art Fair, from Aug. 3 through Aug. 6. Sort of homecoming, with Cobain’s artwork returning to the city he helped put on the map culturally. He was born near there, he passed away there, and he created the soundtrack for a counterculture there,” said Joshua Roth, the director for United Talent Agency Fine Arts.
Having long represented Cobain’s widow, Courtney Love, United Talent Agency gained representation of the estate last year for what Mr. Roth describes as an agencywide collaboration.” While one team at United Talent Agency is working to develop a feature-length motion picture about Kurt Cobain’s life, Mr. Roth is planning to create a touring exhibition that really tells the story of who Kurt was through artworks, personal artifacts and memorabilia, sort of like what the Rolling Stones did in London.” (MORE HERE)

Did we really need another thing to tear this country apart?

There are lots of famous debates about what people in different regions call different things . . . like “soda” versus “pop” and “sub” versus “hoagie.”  But one of those debates REALLY just started heating up this week on Twitter.

What do you call the shoes you wear when you exercise?

According to a study by Harvard, 45.5% of people call them “sneakers,” mostly in the northeast . . . 41.3% call them “tennis shoes” . . . and the rest use other terms like “gym shoes” or just plain “shoes.”

Apparently, though, LOTS of people had no idea there was any other term than the one they used . . . so the reactions on social media are trending toward disbelief.

Buy Jimmy Butler’s River North Mansion For $5M

(from chicagoist.com)

It was difficult for Bulls diehards to say goodbye to fan favorite Jimmy Butler when he was traded last month. So if you’re looking for ways to stay close to the Jimmy Buckets memory after his departure, why not move into his old pad? Butler’s River North mansion just listed, for a cool $5 million.

The 10,000 square-footer—which Butler bought for $4.3 million in 2015—is indeed luxurious, with six bedrooms, four full bathrooms, three half-baths, and three large outdoor spaces. But the best part of this listing is clearly what appears to be Butler’s sneakerhead closet, overflowing with enviable kicks. Sadly, we’re guessing it’s shoes not included. (MORE HERE)
