A Pet Owner Gave Mouth-To-Mouth To A Turtle For An Hour

A pet owner saved his drowning tortoise’s life after giving it the kiss of life for an hour. John Fletcher found 45-year-old Freda at the bottom of his garden pond limp and looking dead.

Mr Fletcher started performing CPR – and gave the animal mouth to mouth resuscitation. Middle-aged “big lady tortoise” Freda lives with her owner at his home and has free rein of the back garden.

NEW MUSIC ALERT! 888 ‘Creepers’

888 first won over the alternative world with the hit single ‘Critical Mistakes’ in 2015, and the Denver based band who previously played in metal bands deliver a heavy groove over lush keyboard lines and swagger drums. The lyrics apparently allude to people hiding their everyday sturggles and saddness while trying to save face and not be vulernable or at least, that’s how I took it. You may have heard it today on 101WKQX in Walt’s Vault IN 3PM hour.

For more new music, check out Queued Up every Sunday 7-9pm with two hours new music discovery from bands you know and bands you need to know. Here is the latest episode.

Daniel Craig confirms he’ll return to James Bond

Daniel Craig resurrected one of the greatest film characters of all time in James Bond, bringing it back to a must-see movie success, but there was speculation after Craig publicly stated he “would rather slash his wrist” than come back to 007 after wrapping filming on ‘Spectre’. Last month the New York Times reported that the English actor was coming back to the Bond series. Would Craig pass on the secret agent mantle or give it another go?

On last night’s ‘Late Show’ while promoting the redneck heist film ‘Logan Lucky’, Stephen Colbert popped the big question: Is he returning to play Bond? He responded “Yes” to a loud roar from the studio audience. It gives great relief to fans of the series who hold Criag in high regard, with some believing he’s the best actor to play the role. Craig also clarified that this upcoming Bond adventure will be his last run in the tuxedo, saying he wants to “go out on a high note.”

In the same interview you can watch above, Craig revealed how he talked his way into a role in the Star Wars flick, ‘Force Awakens’.

Moviepass offers a movie in the theater everday for $10 a month

A new subscription service is breaking open a new way to see movies at the theater: Moviepass will allow subscribers to see one movie per day in their local theater at the economic cost of $9.95 a month. Moviepass has been in existence since 2011, but a new CEO Mitch Lowe who previously worked with RedBox and Netflix has prompted the radical change citing the “risk of seeing a bad movie is high”.  When you consider that just seeing a standard definition movie in the theaters is around $10 (and even more if it’s in IMAX or 3D) that price point is really a radical change that gives leverage to the consumer. It’s made convenient in the obvious form of an app on your phone. It’s available in the Apple store and Google Play. No one is paying me to type this, but it sounds like a something that gives you all the blockbuster for your buck.

Now there are limitations and maybe some unforeseen issues at this new eye-catching price. IMAX and 3D movies will be exempt right now, but Moviepass intends to roll out a separate subscription to let users see those movies in the future. You have to use a debit card on the service, which for some is annoying. Another critical caveat found by LifeHacker is that you can only get your ticket for an individual movie the day-of the screening you are going to see, so that may make it challenging to get tickets for the opening weekends to some more popular releases. The way Moviepass is limited could also change based on the theater chain you use it at like AMC, Marcus, or others.

Lowe in a CNBC interview you can watch above, states that Moviepass will give millennials and younger people a fresh reason to go to the movie theaters and let the theater industry be a “social experience” again. He noted during his tenure with Netflix, they saw users watching movies they would never watch before if they had to subscribe to them on Netflix. Think about about how many different movies you can see in a month? How much money you could save? How much more you would be willing to risk to go see that indie comedy that you are just not that sure about? The days of ‘ Oh, I will just wait for it on Netflix or Hulu’ are gone, because if you really want to see it, you could go see with less risk.

Sounds Every 90s Kid Will Remember

Some of these sounds will trigger fond memories, others might make you anxious that your mom just pulled in the driveway and you have seconds to stop drop and act as though you’ve been completing household chores or getting homework done the whole time and NOT playing games or chatting online. Maybe that was just my childhood? Watch the video below and I’ll watch out for your mom…(not a mom joke, swear)

IKEA Publishes Instructions for Turning Rugs Into Game of Thrones Capes

(from mentalfloss.com)

Game of Thrones is one of the most expensive TV shows ever produced, but even the crew of the hit HBO series isn’t above using an humble IKEA hack behind the scenes. According to Mashable, the fur capes won by Jon Snow and other members of the Night’s Watch on the show are actually sheepskin rugs sold by the home goods chain.

The story behind the iconic garment was first revealed by head costume designer Michele Clapton at a presentation at Los Angeles’s Getty Museum in 2016. “[It’s] a bit of a trick,” she said at Designing the Middle Ages: The Costumes of GoT. “We take anything we can.”  (MORE HERE)

Liam Gallagher is Mad at Dave Grohl for Performing with a Broken Leg

Liam Gallagher from Oasis is NOT happy that Dave Grohl used a THRONE to perform after breaking his leg . . . because now it means rock stars can’t cancel shows with lame excuses anymore.

In an interview with the British version of “GQ”, he said, quote, “[That] ruined it for all of us.  Broke his leg and still toured.  Who does that?  Now if I have a cold I can’t cancel because I’ll look like a wuss.”

Turn your smartphone into a GAMEBOY?!

The retro game revolution continues! AltPress and Youtuber Zachary Anderson turned us onto this ingenuous application of new  independently crafted products that make your Android phone into a Nintendo Gameboy that plays Gameboy and Gameboy Color. Hyperkin, the tech group behind the clever hack are selling them for a fair price of $50 and there is some tech loops to jump through but as you can see in the demo video above, it looks really fun. In his video demo, Anderson stated the concept was rumored to have started as an April Fool’s Prank , which if it’s true, is probably one of the best pranks ever.

This does remind me of something. Did you anyone have that friend back in the day who got in trouble playing on their Gameboy at school?

RHCP’s Flea: Removing Music Education From Schools Is ‘Child Abuse’

Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers got heated this week on the issue of preserving musical education, calling the idea of removing it from schools ‘child abuse’. Speaking to Rolling Stone on the issue of music education being cut from public schools, he declared “It’s child abuse. It’s just wrong.”

Flea’s mission for music education started in 2000, when he visited students at his alma mater Fairfax Senior High School. “They had maybe one or two acoustic guitars, a boombox, a volunteer teacher, and they were sitting around talking about music,” he tells Rolling Stone. “I was so disheartened. I was like, ‘Where’s the orchestra? Where’s the band?’ And I was told they cut out all the funding for that stuff. They didn’t have instruments for the teachers anymore. It really shocked me.” This forced him to form the Silverlake Conservatory of Music to continue the efforts of musical education in the Los Angeles area. The Chili Peppers perform a benefit show for the non-profit music school every year, which recently opened a new spacious facility and has been operating since 2001.

Referencing recent government initiatives to reduce funding for National Endowment for Arts, the bassist and love of jazz music expressed a public need to preserve these efforts in our neighborhoods and towns. “I encourage everybody to reach out into the communities they live in and do what they can to help out. There are people that don’t have money, people that don’t have food or an education or healthcare. And yes, getting to change things on a fundamental, institutional level is an awesome thing, but we can personally reach out in our communities to do stuff that is profoundly helpful.”
