Jack Antonoff’s Short Film About Taking His Childhood Bedroom On Tour

(from stereogum.com)

Although Bleachers frontman Jack Antonoff  has been busy with his band promoting their album Gone Now.

The big story around the time of Antonoff’s tour launch was his plan to bring his childhood bedroom on the road with him. And now he’s released a four-minute documentary about that endeavor called “Can’t Take It With You.” It features Antonoff’s parents and sister, a bunch of Bleachers fans who were excited to dig through his possessions, and Antonoff himself, who admits the whole ordeal is “a study in OCD.” The video is exclusive to Apple Music, so if you’re a subscriber, watch here.

Jack’s bedroom was supposed to be on display this year at PIQNIQ but sadly due to weather a decision was made to postpone allowing fans to see it here in Chicago. Promising to bring it back soon. Hopefully that will be at Bleachers November, 11 show at The Riv with Bishop Briggs!!

Tim & Eric are running for President and “Viss President”

Fresh off their successful live tour which included a sold-out show at the Vic, comedy weird kings Tim & Eric have made a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT today: they are running for President. They are, or rather just Tim Heidecker is running for President with Eric Wareheim as his “Viss President” whose “name will be in a smaller font”. This video should give you a nice reprieve than the news feed of um, of news stuff.

Meanwhile, the duo will return to Adult Swim for a Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! 10th anniversary special that will air August 27th at midnight ET. They shared a ridiculous teaser of the special last week that features a nutball new wave song called ‘Tiny Lamborgini’ which features poorly green screen tiny Italian sports cars and adult men in undersized driving jackets. Yes, this is fun.

HBO social media gets hacked, Game of Thrones episodes leak early

Many people may be excited over the new episodes of ‘Game of Thrones’ but HBO is having a tough time with hackers, who recently over took the premium cable channel’s Twitter account. Andrew Wallenstein of Variety caught screen shots of the hacker’s post before they were removed.

A separate hacking collective last month stole a massive amount of data from the company’s private servers which included scripts for future shows, video files of complete unreleased episodes, and even the personal information of cast and crew of various productions. Those hackers are demanding millions in ransom and slowly leaking out chunks of data, getting so bold as post scripts of future ‘GoT’ episodes on August 8th. The reported figure they are asking for is $6 million. Slashflim has a comprehensive timeline of the hack and how it has progressed since the beginning of this month.

Youtube channel PopTrigger lays it all out and compares it the well-documented hack of Sony Pictures and it appears this HBO hack is much bigger and could be more devastating especially with the potential for the finale of ‘GoT’ to be released illegally online. Beware there is some NSFW language.

Fox Business reports it’s believe an inside source and how HBO is dealing with the situation.

As if HBO was not having enough issues with protecting their precious data, they mistakenly posted the latest episode of their breadwinning series ‘Game of Thrones’ four days early for European subscribers. It was up for an hour to watch on demand, before being removed but has already been pirated. For more on that story go here.

Hmm….

Perfect.  <3 @laurenoneil

Furious Joe Maddon lets loose on umpires, gets ejected after 9th-inning call

With the game tied at six in the ninth inning, Ben Zobrist was hit on the foot while trying to bunt runners on base to second and third with no outs. As Zobrist walked down to take first base, the umpires ruled that Zobrist made a bunt attempt at the pitch and hence it was a strike.

Livid at the call, Maddon stormed out of the dugout and immediately got in the face of Blakney. He was thrown out within 15 seconds and continued to voice his displeasure vocally to a few of the umpires before finally going back to the dugout. READ MORE

Daniel Craig confirms he’ll return to James Bond

Daniel Craig resurrected one of the greatest film characters of all time in James Bond, bringing it back to a must-see movie success, but there was speculation after Craig publicly stated he “would rather slash his wrist” than come back to 007 after wrapping filming on ‘Spectre’. Last month the New York Times reported that the English actor was coming back to the Bond series. Would Craig pass on the secret agent mantle or give it another go?

On last night’s ‘Late Show’ while promoting the redneck heist film ‘Logan Lucky’, Stephen Colbert popped the big question: Is he returning to play Bond? He responded “Yes” to a loud roar from the studio audience. It gives great relief to fans of the series who hold Criag in high regard, with some believing he’s the best actor to play the role. Craig also clarified that this upcoming Bond adventure will be his last run in the tuxedo, saying he wants to “go out on a high note.”

In the same interview you can watch above, Craig revealed how he talked his way into a role in the Star Wars flick, ‘Force Awakens’.

Moviepass offers a movie in the theater everday for $10 a month

A new subscription service is breaking open a new way to see movies at the theater: Moviepass will allow subscribers to see one movie per day in their local theater at the economic cost of $9.95 a month. Moviepass has been in existence since 2011, but a new CEO Mitch Lowe who previously worked with RedBox and Netflix has prompted the radical change citing the “risk of seeing a bad movie is high”.  When you consider that just seeing a standard definition movie in the theaters is around $10 (and even more if it’s in IMAX or 3D) that price point is really a radical change that gives leverage to the consumer. It’s made convenient in the obvious form of an app on your phone. It’s available in the Apple store and Google Play. No one is paying me to type this, but it sounds like a something that gives you all the blockbuster for your buck.

Now there are limitations and maybe some unforeseen issues at this new eye-catching price. IMAX and 3D movies will be exempt right now, but Moviepass intends to roll out a separate subscription to let users see those movies in the future. You have to use a debit card on the service, which for some is annoying. Another critical caveat found by LifeHacker is that you can only get your ticket for an individual movie the day-of the screening you are going to see, so that may make it challenging to get tickets for the opening weekends to some more popular releases. The way Moviepass is limited could also change based on the theater chain you use it at like AMC, Marcus, or others.

Lowe in a CNBC interview you can watch above, states that Moviepass will give millennials and younger people a fresh reason to go to the movie theaters and let the theater industry be a “social experience” again. He noted during his tenure with Netflix, they saw users watching movies they would never watch before if they had to subscribe to them on Netflix. Think about about how many different movies you can see in a month? How much money you could save? How much more you would be willing to risk to go see that indie comedy that you are just not that sure about? The days of ‘ Oh, I will just wait for it on Netflix or Hulu’ are gone, because if you really want to see it, you could go see with less risk.

Sounds Every 90s Kid Will Remember

Some of these sounds will trigger fond memories, others might make you anxious that your mom just pulled in the driveway and you have seconds to stop drop and act as though you’ve been completing household chores or getting homework done the whole time and NOT playing games or chatting online. Maybe that was just my childhood? Watch the video below and I’ll watch out for your mom…(not a mom joke, swear)

IKEA Publishes Instructions for Turning Rugs Into Game of Thrones Capes

(from mentalfloss.com)

Game of Thrones is one of the most expensive TV shows ever produced, but even the crew of the hit HBO series isn’t above using an humble IKEA hack behind the scenes. According to Mashable, the fur capes won by Jon Snow and other members of the Night’s Watch on the show are actually sheepskin rugs sold by the home goods chain.

The story behind the iconic garment was first revealed by head costume designer Michele Clapton at a presentation at Los Angeles’s Getty Museum in 2016. “[It’s] a bit of a trick,” she said at Designing the Middle Ages: The Costumes of GoT. “We take anything we can.”  (MORE HERE)
