It’s almost here. The fight night of the year. The biggest fight of all fights, millions of dollars in hype and anticipation will culminate this Saturday from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas when the undefeated Floyd Mayweather faces the UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor in 12 rounds of boxing. The bars will be packed, your Facebook feed will be flying, the fighter’s mouths have been on a world tour, and you might need to know the hard facts to keep up. Here is a preview with videos and hard numbers to give you all you need to know before the bell rings.

‘THE NOTORIOUS’ CONOR MCGREGOR

Mayweather is heavily favored to win the fight, but the oddsmakers have reported wild numbers coming in with nearly $60 million currently being on the line for those betting on this mega-bout. ESPN reported that 93% of the betters are going with the risk on McGregor to turn in an upset, but several million dollar big bets have been behind Mayweather. ESPN breaks it all down here.
Mayweather comes out of retirement at 40 years of age and two years away from the ring, and boxing experts say it could be his easiest fight in his hall of fame career and bring him the legacy-cementing 50-0 status. ‘Money’ has displayed the greatest defensive skills of any boxer, taking very little damage in his bouts and winning his crafted skill.
McGregor is the longshot but who has promised to win his first ever boxing bout against the world’s best pound-for-pound fighter in the first four rounds. As outlandish as his talk maybe, the Irish mixed-martial artist does not have a soft chin and has the cardio. Two-weight champion Andre Ward said today “anything can happen” today prior to the weigh-in, which is true. McGregor has the motivation and confidence in knowing he does not has much to lose as his opponent but most of all, he has 11 years of youth.
My take: Mayweather wins this fight, but if McGregor can go the distance into 6th round territory he will will walk away from the ring with merit and respect earned for MMA. Almost like the fictional fight in the first ‘Rocky’ film, Rocky Balboa just had to go the distance to walk away the proverbial winner.

Queens of the Stone Age dropped their new album Villains today. It was high on my priority list today so I was jamming it early. It’s sooo good. And I also found this cool live acoustic version of the first single “The Way You Used To Do”. It should help get you psyched for Riot Fest! -wALT
Green Day came to the Lounge prior to their epic Wrigley Field show this week for an exclusive ‘press conference’ with 101WKQX and contest winners to answer all the big questions about their career, their early roots touring in Chicago, a stripper named Dimitri, what you can’t eat before you go on stage, and so much more. Welp, there is good and bad Stranger Things news.
First, the good: even before season 2 airs, co-creators Ross and Matt Duffer have already confirmed a third season! More HERE
Now the bad… they are already planning the end of the beloved show. “We’re thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out,” says Ross. By then, the original band of adorable preteens will be ready for college. “We just have to keep adjusting the story,” says Matt. “Though I don’t know if we can justify something bad happening to them once a year.” More from vulture.com HERE.
But you never know what can happen in the upside down…
Stranger Things second season premieres October 27th, where are we watching it together?

Green Day is the band that rules Chicago this week with huge Wrigley Field show tomorrow and a live streaming press conference today on the 101WKQX Facebook page. They are Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Famers, have sold millions of albums, played to hundred of thousands all over the world, and they are still going with a vibrant energy that shows their time at the top of the alternative mountain is far from over.
Guitarist/singer Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tre Cool have been hustling to get they are today at the ‘stadium level’ shared by top tier bands like Foo Fighters and Coldplay, with enduring focus to political activism, emotional truth, and constant dedication delivering on being so much more ‘just another punk band’.
So let the delightful debate begin about what songs are the best from this West Coast trio, here is a Top 20 according to me and suggestions of trusted music fanatics of GD. So if you don’t like it or you love it, let ME know on social media. Yeah, if you are upset in any remote way, it’s my fault.
