Tiffany’s Is Trolling Everyone With ‘Everyday Objects’ That Cost A Fortune

(from dailydot.com)

No one shops at Tiffany & Co. expecting to find a reasonably-priced gift. The company is known for its high-end diamond engagement rings, necklaces, cuff links, and other items. It’s website even has a “Price is no object” section. But a new line turns basic items that are usually cheap into ridiculous symbols of wealth. Tiffany’s is calling the line ‘Everyday Objects.’

Tiffany & Co has launched a new line called “everyday objects” which includes a range of items like paper cups and tin cans. The objects are made of materials like sterling silver and gold and come with laughable price tag. The Jewelry company seems to be trolling customers with their $1000 paper clip bookmark and $95 paper cup. Social Media seems to be baffled by the collection, asking why anyone would pay $1000 for a tin can or $9000 for a ball of yarn.

Get The Chills From Music? You Have A Unique Brain, According To Science

Imagine yourself the last time you were in a concert crowd.  You’re witnessing your favorite band making music live, and suddenly they build to the bridge of a much loved song….

Do you get goosebumps?

If you answered yes, you aren’t just into the music.  Your brain might actually be wired differently than others.

A study from the University of Southern California scanned the brains of those who identified having these reactions.  They found that “people who experienced chills had a higher volume of neurological fibers which link their auditory cortex to the part of the brain that processes emotions.”  Read more here, from this article on Independent.

In short, they think this step one towards using music as a medicine for those who have trouble controlling their emotions.  That’s awesome.  —- [eric]

‘Father’ of Ballpark Nachos Dies

Frank Liberto, the inventor of baseball stadium nachos (consisting of tortilla chips, jalapenos, and nacho cheese) has died aged 84 in San Antonio, according to My San Antonio.

While Liberto can’t be credited with creating nachos altogether (that dish dates back to the 1940s), the ballpark concession version of the dish was his signature. He started rolling the dish out in 1976 — the recipe’s linchpin was the slightly liquid cheese sauce, which, when coupled with special dispensing equipment, allowed it to be dispensed quickly for a ballpark setting. Twitter’s 280-Character Era Begins; Now There’s Twice The Room To Rant

(from deadline.com)

Twitter doubled its 140-character limit to allow for freer expression (and less time editing tweets to meet the sparer character count).

Product manager Aliza Rosen said Twitter worried that lifting those constraints would litter timelines with excessively long, rambling, tweets, so it conducted a test in September to see what would happen if people had more room to write. After a few days of pushing the limits, people returned to restraint.

“We saw when people needed to use more than 140 characters, they Tweeted more easily and more often,” Rosen wrote in a blog post, announcing the new character limit. “But importantly, people Tweeted below 140 most of the time and the brevity of Twitter remained.” (MORE HERE)

Wrigley Field, November 2017: Unrecognizable

Thanks to a flyover from WGN-TV this morning (which includes a video clip), we can see that Wrigley Field has once again been shredded in the name of progress.

Namely, they will be working on a number of exclusive clubs, replacing grandstand seats, and expanded concession areas.  Some will open next season, some will come our way in 2019.

For the record — they did the same thing last offseason, built new infrastructure, and then appear to have TORN IT ALL DOWN AGAIN to continue The 1060 Project.

Wow.  — [eric]

If Disney buys 21st Century Fox, X-Men could join the Avengers in a moive?!

In a potential monster showbiz deal worth billions, Disney is in prelminary talks to purchase 21st Century Fox’s movie and TV studios, this would include cable channels like FX Network. The most alarming a part of this deal is that it could bring the Marvel superhero characters of X-Men currently owned by 21st Century Fox into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is maintained by Disney who has Marvel under their mousey umbrella. So the fan reaction at just idea of seeing X-Men teaming up with the Avengers has made comic book movie fans lose their minds.

It would be really odd to think the usually family-friendly Disney would also get FOX’s franchise animated shows like ‘The Simpsons’ and ‘Family Guy’ as well.

This potential arrangement would not give Disney control over the FOX national TV network, Fox News Channel, and local FOX affiliates like our local, WFLD. Considering that Disney already owns the national network ABC and America’s antitrust laws are pretty complicated so this could not be an easy to complete.

This could also see Disney acquire the rights to Deadpool and the Fantastic Four from the Marvel Comics.

And as with most things in the last few decades of entertainment, THE SIMPSONS DID IT! Yes, this potential deal was predicted on an episode of the FOX TV show.

CNBC broke the big bucks blockbuster story earlier today.

VIDEO: LCD Soundsystem once played a Sex Club in Ibiza

LCD Soundsystem are in full flight after returning from the dance rock grave recently with a headlining set at Lollapalooza in 2016 and a new praised album ‘American Dream’ and the James Murphy-led collective settle in tonight for hip-shaking three-night residency at the Aragon. The band is easily one of the most beloved in all of alternative, but sometimes you got to go through some weird out-there concerts to pack in big rooms like arenas and fill out parks for festival topping sets. Such is the case in this video from VICELAND with LCD’s keyboardist Nancy Whang who shared this demented NSFW work story on the show ‘Party Legends’.

It’s quite enjoyable to see Nancy’s r-rated tale punctuated by these animated elements sharing how odd it was to perform to 30 people inside an ‘Ibiza sex club’ right after all your gear gets lost on your flight. So you mix champagne and whiskey, and things get even weirder.
