Sure, you haven’t mailed a letter or paid a bill offline since before the first “Iron Man” movie, but it’s nice knowing that the USPS is making great strides in making mail better-smelling.
The U.S. Postal Service will release its first-ever run of “scratch-and-sniff” stamps on June 20. The stamps “feature illustrations of frosty, colorful, icy pops on a stick. Today, Americans love cool, refreshing ice pops on a hot summer day. The tasty, sweet confections come in a variety of shapes and flavors.”

Spider-Man has arguably the best “rogues gallery” in comics, and at last, one of his coolest villains is lined up to give him a headache in the sequel to “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” Jake Gyllenhaal will be throwing on the fishbowl helmet to play Mysterio, a special effects wizard who uses his skills for nefarious means.
It was also announced that Michael Keaton will be returning as the Vulture for the sequel. Might this mean we could see the evil supergroup The Sinister Six in the movie? Hard to know for sure, but… PLEASE.
Wanna waste some time at work and have fun? There’s a tool on Merriam-Webster’s website that lets you see what WORDS were born the same year that you were.
So if you were born in 1988, you’ll find out that some of the words born that year are: Channel surfing … e-book … emo … f-bomb … gangsta … gentleman’s club … hyperlink … mosh pit … road rage …and unibrow.
You can check it out at Merriam-Webster.com/time-traveler.
My guy friends don’t seem to face the same fashion problems that I find myself in. Most ladies fashion is beyond me. The mom jeans shorts, I thought those would’ve been waaaayyy gone by now but it seems to only get worse. And worse. This may turn into a multi-part series…
First off, JVO posted about “distressed bum detail,” which to me looks like what you try to pull off after a horrible, embarrassing accident when you don’t have a change of clothes with you and just have to own the situation.
If that’s not bad enough, I present:
Extreme Cut Out Jeans.
I don’t think I’m alone here when I say, WHY?!?! Just what exactly IS the point of these?
First off they are a “high rise pant” (not a fan) with “large statement cutouts on front and back.” Why don’t you just call a spade a spade… these are only the seams of pants, and the only thing extreme about them is the extreme lack of material. OH AND DID I MENTION THEY ARE $168?!?!?

Plus, the Foo Fighters album “The Colour And The Shape” was released 21 years ago today.
Rivers Cuomo continues to be just a really awesome dude. He never let’s up on his continued status as one of the coolest musicians in alternative. This was evident in yet another video of him delivering a stellar cover at one of his intimate acoustic shows recently. This time he did a stellar rendition of Green Day’s ‘Basket Case’.
Weezer are preparing ANOTHER new album after last year’s ‘Pacific Daydream’, more news on that album and how it’s coming soon here.

In anticipation of Arrested Development’s Season 5 premiere on May 29th on Netflix, a bunch of blue painted Tobiases took the streets of downtown Chicago this weekend and yes, it was weird and funny.
I even captured a video of a weird interaction at Navy Pier yesterday. Listen to what he said to me,….wow.
Other daisy-duked never nudes can be seen below as well.

One take. One chance. AWOLNATION recently did a unique show in Vienna, where what was played — great, terrible or otherwise — was recorded to vinyl in real time. 12 minutes per side. No chance to fix things in post production. What you hear is what you get, thanks to a project by Red Bull TV. Check it out. — [eric]
AWOLNATION, of course, one of the headliners of PIQNIQ 2018. 10 bands for $20 makes Hollywood Casino Ampitheatre a great hang for you and your friend on June 30th, in my humble opinion. Got your tickets yet? The lineup, tickets….all can be found here.
Thanks to this interview with Las Vegas magazine, Mark Hoppus has given us a little insight as to what to expect if you travel to Vegas to watch Blink-182. They will be playing a 16-date residency at the Palms starting this Saturday (May 26th).
If you are interest in planning a trip, here’s what you need to know — the residency will go through November 17th. — [eric]

U2 paid tribute to the late great Chris Cornell during a show in Los Angeles this week, where they placed a part of Soundgarden’s ‘Black Hole Sun’ at the end of their rousing track ‘Beautiful Day’. The Irish rock legends dedicated the performance to Cornell and his family.
Today marks the one year anniversary of Cornell’s passing which occurred shortly after a Soundgarden show in Detroit, Michigan.
In February, Chris’ wife Vicky spoke with ABC about her husband’s battle with drugs and how it contributed to his tragic passing as well as her efforts to help others fighting addiction.
Today, Phantogram released their first new song since 2016’s ‘Three’ with the emotional ‘Someday’. The song features singer Sarah Barthel sharing her pain following the passing of her sister. Proceeds from the song will benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
The song was originally intended for ‘Three’ and is built around a sample from soul singer AL Green’s “I’m Still in Love With You” and “Livin’ for You”, but it was shelved when Barthel’s sister comitted suicide. Phantogram according to Consequences of Sound would then pick up the song months later, and rework the song with a fresh perspective.
“I’m always going to miss you, I’m always going to feel you in everything that I do… oh I love you so,” sings Barthel on the chorus. It clearly has a lot of heaviness to it, that immediately connects with you on the first listen.
The B-side to the single is a cover of Sparklehouse’s ‘Saturday’. You can hear that dreamy tune here.
Here is our interview with Phantogram backstage at Lolla 2014.
Hard to believe it has been an entire year since we lost Chris Cornell. One of the most talented being on this planet. Almost, otherworldly. Maybe he is.
I was lucky enough to spend some time with Chris whether on the phone, in person or in the audience watching him do what he was put here to do.
I’d like to share a sit down I had with Chris that was never posted publicly due to mic and sound issues, and hope you will see past that to feel the intimacy and warmth that was in the 101WKQX Studio 7 on October 7, 2015:
And a clip from the night before at the Chicago Theatre:
The first time I spoke with Chris was over the phone in September of 2012 when he called in to chat about Soundgarden coming back after 15 years gone guns blazing with a new album and tour, this is a clip about wanting fans to have the full album experience:
And about Soundgarden’s brand new fans:
this is a clip about how he grateful he is to do what he does:
Chris and Ben Shepherd came through our Underground Lounge at JBTV on Apil 23, 2013 and were kind enough to play some incredible acoustic songs, feel free to download and share.
