When I was a kid, I imitated and dreamed of becoming a pro athlete. But times are changing, if you’ve been paying attention.
A new generation is idolizing video gamers — and soon, their worth may be equal or greater than the world of sports.
Ponderwall presents a profile on eSports, in which we learn the following:
Billions. BILLIONS. — [eric]
I had coffee with Dave Grohl this morning. That is….he was on TV and I was in my house. Anyways, here are some highlights of the interview.
Check out the rest of the profile that aired this morning on CBS Sunday Morning. — [eric]
I’m not sure why i am posting about snacks lately but … this is a “need to know”! Chip companies have to put SOME air in those bags. Otherwise, all the chips would get pulverized during shipping. But a bag that’s HALF air does seem a bit excessive, doesn’t it?
A new study looked at 14 different types of chips and other snacks like Cheetos, to find out which brand has the best chip-to-air ratio.
Overall, they found the average bag of chips is 43% air. And FRITOS have the BEST ratio . . . only 19% of the bag is air. Here are the 14 brands they looked at, and how much air you get with each one . . .
Fritos, 19% air . . . Pringles, 28% air . . . Tostitos, 34% . . . Baked Lays, 39% . . . Sun Chips, 41% . . . regular Lays, 41% . . . Popchips, 45% . . .
Cape Cod, 46% air . . . Kettle Brand chips, 47% . . . Doritos, 48% . . . Terra chips, 49% . . . Stacy’s Pita Chips, 50% air . . . Ruffles, also 50% . . . and in last place, CHEETOS with 59% air.
The good news is we might be getting more chips than we used to. A 2015 study found the average bag was 70% air, which is 27% more than the new study found. So we are on our way to increased cheap consumption. – Tim Virgin
(Fun fact: That’s not normal, breathable air in those bags. Regular air would make them go stale. So they fill the bags with nitrogen.)
Check out the pink inflatable coffin Canadian designer Andrew Greenbum has developed. He’s started a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to produce them so hopefully the pools and beaches will be strewn with them next summer! Sure, it might be a little macabre, but it’s pink! -wALT
MTV was respected for waving the flag of alternative music, but always having an odd sense to present it in more striking visual settings. Their ‘Unplugged’ series gave us Nirvana’s memorable live album, ‘Beavis & Butthead idiotically riffing over Green Day videos blended the humor of the time with the sound of the times, but then somehow they just got focused on teenage moms and bros from the Jersey shore. They may be getting back to that vibe soon…
Spin turned me on this memorable performance on the 4th of July from the ‘MTV Beach House’ in 1993 which featured a new-to-America Radiohead. The English alt icons were then just starting to tour the States, following the release of ‘Pablo Honey’ their debut album. The performance which took place in the Hamptons with celebrity guests like Jon Stewart, was hosted by the sarcastically sweet Kennedy. RH played their definitive hit ‘Creep’ and ‘Anyone Can Play Guitar’.
This should serve as a grand appetizer with hot dogs off the grill for this week’s Radiohead shows at the United Center.
