This weekend at the movies two big movies from two different genres are hitting theaters with built-in fan bases. Pop music queen Lady Gaga will join Bradley Cooper in a modern retelling of ‘A Star is Born’ while Tom Hardy will play a twisted parasitic Marvel Comics creature in ‘Venom’. The AV Club and Buzzfeed reported today this box-office match-up has driven some of Gaga’s ‘little monster’ fans to start flooding the web with fake negative reviews of Venom in hopes of tanking it, so that ‘A Star Is Born’ can steal in it’s opening weekend.
Buzzfeed actually had a Gaga fan confirm it was a coordinated effort to launch a troll campaign. “It’s us Gaga fans creating fake IDs to trash the Venom premiere,” said @LGMonster95. “They both are getting released on the same day, so we want more audience for A Star Is Born.”
I wasn’t sure i’d watch #Venom on opening weekend but now i think i just might go see it twice this weekend, with a bunch of friends and family too. This is pathetic as hell. https://t.co/AE0NAs3Pl7

Beware of fake #Venom movie reviews. There are people trying to promote Lady Gaga's #AStarIsBorn and are fabricating negative reviews. Look out for bots and only trust proper and regular reviewers. pic.twitter.com/v9xznuN5R7

Well this just feels like people on the internet being dumb and over-zealous.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers performed as part of the Silverlake Conservatory of Music gala in Los Angeles on Saturday. The event was held in honor of Mo Ostin, a recording industry executive and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee who’s worked with the likes of Frank Sinatra, the Beach Boys, and the Chili Peppers.
Check em out covering Hendrix!
Red Hot Chili Peppers are scheduled to hit the studio any day now to begin work on their new album, the follow-up to 2016’s The Getaway.
The classic Oasis album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? was released 23 years ago today (October 2, 1995).
The album became the third-best-selling LP in England’s history, topped only by the Beatles Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and Queen’s Greatest Hits, and made Noel and his brother Liam Gallagher paparazzi-level famous. (their bickering and in-fighting would grab most of the subsequent headlines leading to the group’s eventual demise.)
Cheers!
I’m a sucker for a good mashup. The table is taking the mashup concept to a new level. He has some serious autotune skills. -wALT
If you missed the premiere of the 44th season SNL this weekend you missed this!
I wonder if this will turn in to a reacquiring role for Matt just like Trump did for Alec Baldwin?

Here we go again 🙁
You could say I was upset when I heard The Alley was closing it’s doors after 39 years…
You could say I was emotionally vested in The Alley…
So I was excited after almost a full year later, owner Mark Thomas reopened one of my favorite places on the planet.
He so giveth, also taketh away as Mark has announced The Alley store and cafe at 3221 N. Clark St. is expected to close around Halloween.
“It is still a very hands-on daily business that I found to be too challenging,” Thomas wrote in an email announcing the closure.
Thomas has suffered from health problems in recent years, necessitating the close, he said. He wants to one day find a “younger, healthier” partner to carry on Alley’s “strong, loved” tradition in a brick-and-mortar business.
More from Block Club Chicago HERE.
RIP. again.

Channeling his inner Morrissey, Eddie Vedder joined Johnny Marr for a cool cover of The Smiths’ iconic tune, “There Is a Light That Never Goes Out” at his annual Ohana festival over the weekend.

“Jumpsuit” has already been covered….by a three-year old.
The young fan of TØP did a pretty detailed recreation of the band’s music video — I mean, look: he even has someone in red chasing him around — and his mother decided to post it for the world to enjoy.

Chicago’s own John C. Reily once again teams up with his ‘Stepbrother’ Will Ferrell for a fresh comedic take on the covered territory of Sherlock Holmes and his sidekick Dr. Watson. The characters who solve crimes in olde tyme England have been portrayed through the years in many different ways and most recently in action-driven movies starring Robert Downey Jr. This new one looks pretty silly and playful, lending itself to Ferrell and Reily’s chemistry for the ridiculousness in any situation.
This reoccurring bit on ‘Conan’ is one of my favorites in the wide competitive field of late night comedy with Conan O’Brien and his team giving out awards to auidences members based of celebrities or odd people they resemble. It’s like he’s randomly roasting people and the whole segment you have to assume is put together as the audience is seated before the show starts taping which makes it so clever and biting when the jokes hit.
Yes, it’s time to dull out awards in the sitting arts. I almost thought Conan said “let’s get it sharted” but I am not sure.
Conan will bring his alternative brand of humor to Chicago Theater on November 28th with must-see acts Ron Funches, Deon Cole, and Laurie Kilmartin.
While you are here, check out Conan O’Brien’s first episode hosting his original NBC show, ‘Late Night’ in 1993.
