With social media giving a voice to everyone for all of us to hear (even when we don’t want to hear it all), we all may know that one person who takes making memes way too seriously. Yes, you made up a pun and dropped the IMPACT font on top of a screen capture of SpongeBob Squarepants. It’s fun, but it’s just disposable internet junk food. Have fun, keep making it, but you have a handle on it’s depth.
Well, this brilliant short sketch from College Humor roasts those people who seek viral validation in grand fashion.
Terry Crews the football player-turned-cop action man on ‘Brooklyn 99’ has a featured role in the latest muse-see music video for ‘Algorithms’ from MUSE off their adventurous new album ‘Simulation Theory’. The song and video makes you feel like you are in a mixture of ‘Stranger Things’, ‘TRON’, and a bit of ‘Gremlins’. It’s just lush, beautiful, and fun to see Crews ramp up for a collision with an otherworldly force to this rousing synth-driven epic.
You can see a loose story that leads into this latest cluo with some aesthetic connections featuring Crews in a high school prom overtaken by an evil presence in ‘Pressure’.
MUSE just dropped the new album and you can stream the entire record below on Spotify or Youtube.
We’re just a week away from the new album from The Smashing Pumpkins Shiny and Oh So Bright Vol. 1 / LP: No Past, N o Future, No Sun. This will give you a couple of weeks to get to know it before they hit stage at the Aragon for night 2 of the The Nights We Stole Christmas. The show is sold out but you can try to score tickets here.
With one week out, the Pumpkins have dropped a new song called “Knights of Malta”. With the strings and piano, I’m getting a bit of a Beatles/Oasis vibe. Check it out for yourself. -wALT

The Cubs are reportedly open to trading anyone on their roster this off season….and that apparently includes Kris Bryant, the focus of this article from ESPN. Here’s why this could happen:
It will be an interesting winter for the Cubs. — [eric]
Here’s what the music world is saying about two of the biggest new albums to be released today:
Maeve McDermott, USA Today: “I hated Imagine Dragons — until their new album changed my mind. It happened slowly, Imagine Dragons’ transition from “the annoying band in all the movie trailers” to “the slightly-less-annoying band whose song I won’t change on the radio” to “the band whose album I may listen to, voluntarily.”
Glenn Gamboa, Newsday: “The more singer Dan Reynolds and friends do it, the better they get. That part is clear on ‘Natural’ — the album’s first single, which has already topped the rock charts for three months — as Reynolds shows new dynamics to his voice, rather than simply the intensity that has pushed the Las Vegas band up the charts.”
Alexis Petridis, The Guardian: “If they really are troubled by their success or how they’re perceived, their dark night of the soul looks set to continue apace: cliches, cod profundities and all, Origins sounds like another vast hit.”
Chad Childers, Loudwire: “It feels like a bit of a musical playground at times, with bluesy slide guitars, scratching, church organs, pianos, robotic vocals and more joining the kitchen sink in the mix, but the guitars, synths and drums still power most of what the band does and does well.”
Andrew Trendell, NME: “With space-age rockabilly and EDM machine gun beats, this bizarre new album sees Muse retreat from the real world and into a ‘Tron’-style pastiche of their own adolescence. You’ll be ashamed to tell anyone how much you love it.”
Mark Beaumont, Louder: “And Muse twist the idea to create their own Sgt Pepper ‘character’ album. A virtual band-within-a-band, they’re 21st-century rockers transforming themselves into an 80s synth-rock simulation.”
PLUS: you could check out the 10th anniversary special release from Fleet Foxes, a live album from Midnight Oil….or you could get new music from Jeff Goldblum. Yeah, THAT Jeff Goldblum. — [eric]
PROGRAMMING NOTE: On Thursday night (11/15/18), at 11PM….we give you another Uninterrupted Disruption with Mumford & Sons. Tune in for the commercial-free full album play plus hear the band talk about the new album just before it’s midnight release. Hear it before anyone else on 101WKQX.

Netflix and Warner Bros. are being sued by the Satanic Temple.
The suit centers around the new show “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” and a statue used in the show that depicts a goat-headed deity. The Satanic church says the statue is a copyright violation of its Baphomet statue. The lawsuit says the statue used in “Sabrina” is too similar, and Satanic Temple co-founder tweeted an “A-B” comparison:

This is pretty cool! Snow Patrol paid a visit to the The Late Late Show on Monday night (Nov. 5) with an amazing performance of “What If This Is All The Love You Ever Get?”. During rehearsals, host James Corden joined his old friends in the band for a tear jerking duet. Check it out …
Pop-ups are popping up everywhere in Chicago. Here is one I am really excited about, even though that’s just, like, my opinion, man.
More on The Dude’s Abode and other pop-ups in Chicago from DO312 HERE.
So that’s what you call me. You know, that or, uh, Her Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you’re not into the whole brevity thing.

“Knights Of Malta” is the opening track from the Pumpkins forthcoming reunion record “Shiny and Oh So Bright, Vol. 1 / LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun” available November 16th.
This is a really cool arrangement of the song that really shows off Dan Smith’s voice. So smooth agains the string section. And then there’s the guy on the keyboards. One of these things isn’t like the other, huh?
Do you remember last year, Pringles made chips with different Thanksgiving dinner flavors . . . but just as a test. They weren’t for sale.
