A member of the Chicago Cubs security staff went to the hospital Tuesday after coming into contact with a substance in a piece of mail. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon near Wrigley Field. The employee was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital by ambulance after coming into contact with what police called a “skin irritant.”
A hazmat team arrived at the scene alongside a bomb unit. The Chicago Fire Department, the Postal Inspection Service and the FBI also responded to the scene.
The Texas Rangers are on fire right now. They blew past the Tampa Bay Rays in two games and are now one win away from sweeping the Baltimore Orioles in the American League Divisional Series. The team has suffered major injuries this year and has dealt with a subpar bullpen, but they’re rapidly approaching the American League pennant. Pitcher Andrew Heaney began blasting the iconic rock band in the locker room during the second half of the season as a way to inspire the team. Rangers play-by-play announcer Jared Sandler explained, “Andrew Heaney just shared that as the team was going through the rollercoaster of the second half, they started having fun and playing Creed before games. He said that if Creed was played at GLF [Globe Life Field] on Tuesday or Wednesday and fans started belting out the song, it would fire them up!”
