Chicago shuts down lakefront trail, river walk, and the 606

Mayor Lori Lightfoot was visibly mad this week at a press conference covering the ongoing Coronavirus crisis, and it got under her skin that many people were crowding the lakefront area and not maintaining social distancing.

So fast forward to today and the city has shutdown the majestic lakefront trail, the city riverwalk, and the 606 trail that runs through Logan Square. WE CAN’T HAVE NICE THINGS! If you violate the order, it will be a misdemeanor crime and you will be served a $500 fine.

You can gather with the KQX Morning Crew here today at 4pm for a Happy Hour.

Tiger King Story continues (spoilers)

Joe Exotic, the star of the popular documentary ‘ Tiger king’ is seeking $94 million dollars in a suit claiming that a huge conspiracy led to his incarceration snd to the death of his mother.

If you haven’t watched ‘Tiger King’ yet… what’s wrong with you, but also stop reading this because spoilers.

Joe Exotic is claiming that he was falsely arrested and imprisoned, and the victim of malicious prosecution and discrimination.

He is suing suing the U.S. Department of Interior and the U.S. Federal Wildlife Service for placing the “generic tiger” on the endangered species list, which he says was a direct target at his business and led to the closing of his beloved park. He also claims that because he was a gay man with the worlds largest generic tiger and cross bred tiger collection he was targeted as well.

He wants $78,840,000 for the loss of his personal property and 18 years’ worth of his work with tigers for this.

He is also going after his former business partner Jeff Lowe, and it looks like the Feds are actually already trying to put some evidence together to nab him as well.

Finally he is seeking $15 million because the collective pain and anguish of the whole criminal pursuit after Joe led to his mothers death, in his words.

Oh i am so excited for the update to this documentary! It is going to be SO GOOD!!!

Leslie Jordan thinks this can protect him from getting sick

This starts out as a sweet neighborly video, but then kind of turns into a drug fueled blast to the past.

Either way Leslie Jordan is wonderful and must be protected at all costs.

Amazon cracking down on price-gouging

WLS-AM is reporting today  on the world’s biggest online retailer cracking down during the current crisis.

When Amazon officials warned against price gouging during the coronavirus pandemic, clearly they were serious. The online retailer on Tuesday announced it has given the heave-ho to nearly 4,000 offending sellers.

“Amazon strictly prohibits sellers from exploiting an emergency by charging excessively high prices on products and shipping,” Amazon officials said in a statement announcing the account suspensions. “We have deployed a dedicated team that’s working continuously to identify and investigate unfairly priced products that are now in high demand, such as protective masks and hand sanitizer.”

Being booted from Amazon could be the least of the sellers’ worries. Company officials say they’re “proactively sharing information” with law enforcement authorities to expose “sellers we suspect have engaged in egregious price gouging of products related to the COVID-19 crisis.”

CBS 2 reported on local stores that have received price-gouging complaints.

SNL’s Kate McKinnon set to play Carol Baskin in ‘Tiger King’ TV Series

Kate McKinnon has played many roles on her years on ‘Saturday Night Live’ and has been able to fully dive into her roles but her next role is going to be a pretty wild one. McKinnon is set to produce an adaption of the show into a scripted series where she will also play Carol Baskin. If the scripted version is nearly as a good as this real life doc, it’s going to be amazing.

With everyone spending more time at home due to quarantines, the docuseries about the crazed Joe Exotic, his hippie nemesis Baskin, and weird world of exotic animal owners has blown up in the past week so the real life story has already garnered the call of an adaption into a series. If you have not seen it, it’s a must see! Collider broke it down in this extensive review.

If anyone is up for the role of Joe Exotic, may we suggest our very own Justin from the KQX Morning Crew.

Chicago-born filmmaker Stuart Gordon died yesterday at the age of 72.

Gordon was probably best known for his directorial debut, “Re-Animator,” a horror cult classic. He also co-created the “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” franchise.  Locally, he launched the Organic Theater Company, which became known for groundbreaking performances like Mamet’s “Sexual Perversity in Chicago.”

Make your own stylish face mask

Bras have multiple uses.

They can hold up the balloons, and double as a face mask?

Well at least that’s what this lady says.

I am going to say ask a doctor before using this method. Just to be sure.

Also aren’t bras expensive?? Why would you just cut them up like that!!!

Sports commentators are finding other things to commentate on

I miss sports. So much.

And so do the commentators who call the games. What are they supposed to be doing in this no sports world??

Nick Heath, a rugby announcer, has found that he can still do what he loves out in the real world.

This is fun, but…

SPORTS PLEASE COME BACK WE MISS YOU!!!

Oh how the tables have turned

Revenge is a dish served directly to the back of the head.

This mom constantly tells her son not to fall asleep in her bed or she’s going to end up pranking him.

Of course he didn’t listen, and a mother always keeps her word.

What she didn’t expect was for him to react this way though…

This is amazing.

That’ll teach them both not to mess with each other!

Malort joins the fight against COVID-19 with hand sanitizer

in an article today from Eater, CH Distillery the makers of the very divisive Jepppson’s Malort  liquoar, revealed their plans to make hand santizer for medical professionals at hospitals, clinics, and blood donation centers. Other distilleries around the country have converted their operations from booze to making sanitizes since there is currently a nationwide shortage, and CH Distillery owner Tremaine Atkinson said they felt the need to do something for the cause. As soon as we thought of this, we said we definitely want to donate it,” Atkinson said. “We don’t want a dime.”

Did Philip Rivers introduce himself to Colts fans on the toilet?

I’m pretty sure that Phil Rivers addressed Indianapolis Colts fans for the first time from the royal throne.

Is this a sign of what their season’s going to look like????

You know what, why not kill two birds with one stone am I right!

Plus he has like 27 kids so the bathroom is probably the only place where he can be alone.

Ok Phil, fair enough.

Out of work strippers are now delivering food

A lot of businesses are having to pivot the way they conduct due to COVID-19.

This strip club in Portland was shut down, so the owner decided to change things up in order to keep his employees working.

Introducing Boober Eats, the food delivery/stripping system of the future.

This is the ultimate way to support local businesses. The strippers get to save their jobs, local restaurants can still sell their food, people get fed.

That’s a win, win, win!

Strippers might save us all.

His genre-bending blend of folk, hip hop, rock, and personality has never relenting in testing boundries but also giving us songs to shot into the roof of our cars. This session proved to be quite fun as Mr. Hanson embraced the imganiary idea that his band was playing on a cruise ship for whatever reason and he blended three of biggest songs into clap-a-long medley.
