Eddie Vedder’s wild stories about Dennis Rodman

Tonight we get even more of the must-see documentary ‘the Last Dance’ which shows off the memorable play of the 90’s Chicago Bulls who had many characters off the court, including the rebounding wild man Dennis Rodman. ‘The Worm’ was known for spending a lot of time off court partying and enjoying life to the fullest. One night in Seattle as the Bulls were practicing before taking on the then-very formidable Sonics the next day, Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder was trying to get the raucous Rodman to calm down and do some relaxing reading, but Rodman was not having it. It was 6pm in Seattel, by 9:30 that night Rodman and Vedder were right off stage at a Jane’s Addiction. show in Las Vegas. You can listen to Vedder tell the whole story during a recent podcast interview with sports wizard Bill Simmons.

Rodman sat down with Genius to get quized about “his” band, Pearl Jam. Damn, Rodman really knows PJ. He even has a Carman Electra / Cypress Hill story in here.

Yankee Stadium drive-in live music festival in the works

In these challenging COVID times, the once-dead ‘drive in’ is making a big comeback with a local example being the McHenry Drive In.The past two weekends they have been turning away people from their once-shuttered drive-in theater. It is a workaround for the many of us that want to get out but still want to maintain social distance, so that same format had to expanded to live entertainment right? In Denmark and Germany, live concerts at drive-ins started in April and now it looks like they could expand to the United States in the parking lot of one of the most popular sports franchises in America, the New York Yankees.

MASC Hospitality, a production company that produces street festivals around the NYC area is reportedly working on the Uptown Drive-In at

the parking lot of Yankees Stadium. Brooklyn Vegan reports the event could possibly be held on weekends in July with carnival-like offerings including raffles, games, food, and of course, live music. This is a “complete drive-in” experience according to a statement from the organizers.

So this raises the question, can we do this in the parking lot near one of our arenas? 35th street party in our vans, maybe?

New video out of quarantine from Local H

Local H’s latest album LIFERS came out a month ago, and the hauntingly beautiful track #6 ‘Sunday Best’ just got an equally haunting music video treatment out of quarantine.  Enjoy, and listen to the entire album below!  <3 Lauren

“Scott Lucas says “Sunday Best” is “a love song in the most macro way possible,” continuing, “trying to place our tiny individual relationships in the tiny continuum of our tiny family blood-lines. And then put THAT into the whole of human existence — which is actually pretty tiny — and still come away with the thought that finding love is some kind of miracle. It’s like a rebuke to that Bogart line in Casablanca about the troubles of two people not adding up to a ‘hill of beans.’ What we’re saying is that the hill of beans is EVERYTHING. If nothing matters — maybe everything matters.”  Read more from Brooklyn Vegan HERE.

Watch must-see ‘Prince and the Revolution: Live’ concert

Prince paved the way for wild new places in music with his expansive embrace of rock, soul, funk, and everything else you can think of in a near perfect mix that became his ground breaking ‘Purple Rain’ album. So successful it had a film adaption and last impact on generations of music fans to this day. With the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, Google and YouTube have partnered with the estate of Prince to raise funds for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization (powered by UN Foundation and Swiss Philanthropy Foundation) with a special streaming event that revives that special era of music.

The ‘concert film premiered on YouTube last night and will only be available for free through the weekend, so watch it now before it’s gone. If you have a few dollars to spare throw in for the cause. This live album in audio form has also finally been released on music streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify as well.

This specific performance was filmed in Syracuse, New York but was the same month the Purple One and his collective of superstars played 5 sold-out shows at was then, the Rosemont Horizon. MLB Pitcher Blake Snell Refuses to play for reduced pay

Ace Pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays Blake Snell went on a rant and talked about why he refuses to play for a reduced pay during the corona virus pandemic.

He feels that it’s more of a risk to leave his house and play in the first place, so why would he do it for less money??

Can you blame the guy too? He just signed a $50 million contract and now they want to suddenly pay him less and risk his health?

That makes no sense.

Jeff Bezos is set to become the world’s first trillionare

I guess not everyone has had a bad experience with the coronavirus.

In fact it’s given Jeff Bezos the push to be on track to be the world’s first ever trillionare.

Right now it is estimated that he will reach that mark by 2026.

This year alone, due to the recent surge in amazon packages being ordered, Bezos’ net worth has bumped up by $28 billion!

Now THAT is a lot of money.

Maybe he’ll do something good with it??

Barstool Sports founder goes off on COVID-19 lockdowns

Barstool Sports Founder Dave Portnoy created a video that he uploaded to Twitter early yesterday morning where he gave his opinion on what the response to COVID-19 lockdowns should be.

In simple terms it looks like he is tired of the lockdown and wants to go back to work.

Does he have a point here? Is it necessary to go back to work and risk getting the virus, or stay inside and possibly ruin the economy.

Either way until there is a vaccine, IF there is going to be one, it looks like we are in for a win lose scenario.

Stay home and stay healthy, but the economy is decimated. Or go back to work and get sick, which is not exactly a better choice.

Very confusing conundrum indeed!!

This restaurant is using blow up dolls to encourage social distancing

With some restaurants reopening people are having to find a way to encourage their customers to still practice social distancing while dining.

For this restaurant, they decided to go with blow up dolls.

And it look like something out of a horror movie.

They are doing it to make it seem like the restaurant is full while also helping to keep people separated.

It’s the thought that counts… however I think I’ll just take my order to go!

Jurassic Pot: Clayton English’s very 420 recap of Jurassic Park

Comedy Central continues it’s unique movie recap web series ‘Dope Movies’ which features comedian Clayton English taking in bong rips and laying down movie riffs on the game-changing ‘Jurrassic Park’. This movie was a mandatory must-see flick for any 90’s kid, but now those kids are bigger kids who have embraced higher learning to see it all in a new light.

The animation on English’s riffs are on point, the impression of Samuel L. Jackson, and the thought provoking notion that back in the 1990’s people could hack into computers too quickly. Also a discovery about the premise of the movie you can only reach in this altered state of mind.

Run the Jewels collaborate with RATM and Queens of the Stone Age

Run the Jewels have never been bound by the limitations of grey lines separating genres of music, which has allowed their alternative take on hip hop to take on new collaborative challenges heading into their anticipated ‘RTJ4’ album. due out June 5. This collection of songs is confirmed from AltPress to feature Rage Against the Machine’s Zach De Le Rocha, Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, and pop mastermind Pharrell Williams.

Killer Mike and EL-P rocked the Aragon with QOTSA for 101WKQX’s Nights We Stole Christmas in 2017. It was incredible to say the least, and it sold out super fast. Objectively, you would think this bumping aggressive rap duo would not draw an aligned vibe with the chugging rock grooves fo Homme and company, but it all fit together like a glove. You can relive it here with stage photos and more.

Zack de la Rocha has joined RTJ on their track “Close Your Eyes (And Count To Fuck)” and just appeared in their video for “Oooh LA LA.” RTJ was scheduled to tour with RATM and come to Chicago but that has been postponed to July 2021.

The Killers dedicate song on Fallon to front line workers

The Killers are still a band we can lean on with emotive anthems we need in these tough days, and you may have heard a new one from them called ‘Caution’. Ronnie Venucci and Brandon Flowers appeared last night on the at-home edition of ‘the Tonight Show’ where with the help of a drum machine, a piano, and an acoustic guitar they played the song dedicated to the frontline workers in hospitals, grocery stores, and those helping us get through the pandemic.

The new album ‘Imploding of the Mirage’ drops on streaming platform on May 29th.

101WKQX’s Jon Manley talked with Brandon Flowers for our quarantine sessions last month, where he shared insight on their new album, the lasting impact of their music, and what a life in music might feel like moving forward through the pandemic.

THE KILLERS are live with Jon Manley right now! Got a question? Let’s hear it!

Car chase DOESN’T end after truck is flipped by police

Police in Oklahoma were led on a wild car chase where ultimately they decided to spin their perp out in his truck.

Things don’t always go to plan though, and they actually flipped the truck all the way upside down onto its roof.

But did that stop the perp from continuing the chase?

The judge will have to take years off this guy’s sentence for style points right??
