A recent survey from Cash App Taxes shows that 1 in 4 Gen Zers are in need of desperate help after tax season. Specifically, that they’ll need therapy. Another 54% said filing taxes has either brought them to tears in the past or expect it to this year.

We recommend the Better Help app, or…not filing your taxes.

New Music Friday with Sum 41, Twenty One Pilots, and more!

Kings of Leon: SplitΒ Screen

Nashville’s Kings of Leon are back with a new single, a follow-up to the excellent, new “Mustang”. The band brings an exciting 80s vibe to the traditional Southern style that the band has brought to the table for two decades right now.

Kings of Leon come to Northerly Island on September 28.

Lorde: Take Me to the River

Lorde is back with a take on Talking Head’s “Take Me to the River”. This is a part of the upcoming Talking Heads tribute album, released by the A24 film studio, which features the likes of Miley Cyrus, Paramore, and of course, Lorde. This is a marvelous rendition on an iconic song.

Sum 41: Heaven x Hell

The final Sum 41 album is here! Heaven x Hell is a double album that caps off the Sum 41 career in a remarkable way. This album not only features the standout single, “Landmines”, as well as excellent tracks like “Waiting On a Twist of Fate” and “Dopamine”.

Twenty One Pilots: Next Semester Β

They’re baaaaaack. Twenty One Pilots have followed up on their brilliant single “Overcompensate” with “Next Semester”, a genuine thumper. This feels like a return to a more classic tΓΈp sound, and that is something that we’re going to eat up time and time again.

Brian & Kenzie will have Twenty One Pilots tickets every day next week at 8:00am.

Vampire Weekend: Mary Boone

Naming a song after an art dealer? Extremely on brand for Vampire Weekend. They’re back with a scorching new single “Mary Boone”. This sounds like a natural evolution of a band that has continued to grow and evolve over the last decade-and-a-half.

Everything you need to know about White Sox Opening Day

Opening Day is here.

The march towards 162 begins today as the White Sox host the Detroit Tigers at 3:00pm today. For the Sox, the expectations are low, but if anything, that leaves room to grow. The White Sox will kick off the action today with Garrett Crochet, the bullpen stalwart-turned-starter.

As a special treat for fans, the parking lot will open three hours before first pitch and gates will open two hours before first pitch. Tailgating is permitted in parking lots. Fans have the option to purchase reserved tailgating spaces in Lot E, which includes a dedicated tailgate space, early access to Lot E and close proximity to Gate 2.

The White Sox’ bag policy for the 2024 season permits clear single compartment tote bags (12 x 12 x 6 inches or smaller), clutch purses (9 x 5 x 2 inches or smaller) and diaper bags when an infant is present. Backpacks and all other bags are prohibited.

As for the Cubs, their home opener comes Monday as they begin a homestand against the Colorado Rockies. If you are looking for something to do beforehand in Wrigleyville, Brian & Kenzie will be broadcasting live from Almost Home Tavern & Grill from 6am-10am. Attendees will have a chance to win tickets to Green Day, Twenty One Pilots, and more at the broadcast. Get all the info you need here.

ALDI’s bacon is real, despite what the Internet says

An Internet rumor has caught fire claiming that ALDI is manufacturing bacon in a lab. After a lot of Internet bickering and half-assed research, the grocer spoke out and denied the claims.

ALDI, the popular grocery chain, clarified toΒ The Associated PressΒ that its Appleton Farms products, including bacon, β€œare not produced through cultivated lab practices.” So where did this confusion come from?

But fear not, bacon lovers. ALDI’s bacon is the real deal, sourced from pigs, not petri dishes.

‘The Simpsons’ predict the future again as Cypress Hill announces concert with London Symphony Orchestra

Nearly 30 years after Homer Simpson embarked on the Hullabalooza tour that featured cameos from the likes of Billy Corgan, Sonic Youth, and Cypress Hill, another Simpsons joke is coming true.

In the episode “Homerpalooza”, there is a gag that sees one band accidentally order the London Symphony Orchestra, likely while high, which puts the blame on Cypress Hill.

Taking place at London’s Royal Albert Hall on July 10th, the show will feature Cypress Hill performing some of their biggest hits like β€œInsane in the Brain” and β€œI Wanna Get High” over orchestral arrangements conducted by LSO’s Troy Miller.

New Music Friday featuring Hozier, Pearl Jam, and more!

Every Friday, Case the Producer rounds up the most exciting new tunes in music and serves them up in one easy-to-find blog for you, the Q101 Crew Members.

Adrianne Lenker: Bright Future

Big Thief have existed for nearly a decade now as one of the brightest and most brilliant bands in all of indie rock. Their frontwoman, Adrianne Lenker, is no stranger to solo work, however. Bright Future is the much-anticipated follow-up to 2020’s songs, a record full of intimate, acoustic tracks including the standout “anything“. Bright Future took a few years to get, but the quality is just as high as you’d expect. Lenker once again reaffirms her status as one of the most daring songwriters in music with this album.

The Gaslight Anthem: History Books -Short Stories

There was a nine-year gap between 2014’s Get Hurt and 2023’s History Books. Now, less than a year later, Twisted XMAS alumni The Gaslight Anthem are back with a short set of reimagined tracks. Not only does the EP include a cover of “Ocean Eyes” by Billie Eilish, but the band has re-recorded a fan-favorite in “Blue Jeans & White T-Shirt”. Rounding out the project is acoustic versions of “Positive Charge” and “History Books”, two standout tracks from the band’s most recent record.

The Gaslight Anthem will be joined by the iconic Joyce Manor and Pinkshift on August 29 at The Salt Shed.

Hot Mulligan: Stickers of Brian

Hot Mulligan are currently on the road with Fall Out Boy and Jimmy Eat World. As you’re reading this, they’re preparing to play Madison Square Garden. They filled the Aragon Ballroom last December. They have been good for a really long time, but it felt like the right people finally started to pay attention in 2023. Their first new track of 2024 is “Stickers of Brian”, another certified thumper from a band that has seemingly been incapable of missing. This is the perfect introduction to anyone not hip to Hot Mulligan as they simply doubled-down on everything that they do well with this excellent track.

Hozier: Unheard EP

Hozier will take Lollapalooza by storm later this summer, but before he gets there, he is bestowing us with the gift of new music. He gives us Unheard, a lovely EP featuring lovely songs, as Hozier is prone to do. The standout track is Too Sweet, a vibrant and energetic cut from one of the finest voices in all of music.

Maggie Rogers: So Sick of Dreaming

New Maggie Rogers music? And it’s delightful? Who could’ve seen this coming? One of the most energetic performers in all of the land is back to cranking out energetic, song-of-the-summer-like singles, and it’s great to see.

Pearl Jam: Running

These guys are pretty good, aren’t they? With Dark Matter less than a month away, the band is ready to unearth another new single, this time in “Running”. It’s another belter.

The Story So Far: Letterman

The Story So Far are God’s gift to mankind. A pop punk band that feels sophisticated yet accessible, mature yet fun. These types of things don’t happen often, if ever. Parker Cannon is simply a brilliant frontman and the band’s newest single, “Letterman”, is a great showcase of the band’s new, more melodic direction.

Cicadas are coming and they’re going to pee on you

There’s no way to hide from it. Cicadas are coming and they’re going to wreck your summer.

A new report not only states that billions of cicadas are coming, but that they’re going to pee on you. “There’s no stopping them,” Allen Lawrance, associate curator of entomology at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Chicago said. “They’re here. It’s temporary, and there’s really no escaping them.” The New York Times reports that cicadas drink 300 times their weight in plant sap every day. The bugs can shoot their urine about 10-feet a second.

Goodbye, freedom. Hello, cicadas.
