What are the top foods that cheer you up?

In 2014, Taco Bell added bacon-egg-and-waffle tacos to its breakfast menu, and they only lasted a year.  But they might have been onto something . . .

A new survey asked people to name foods that can instantly cheer you up.  And tacos, bacon, eggs, and waffles ALL made the top five . . .

1.  Tacos.  One in three people said eating them instantly puts them in a better mood.

2.  Bacon and eggs.

3.  Steak.

4.  Fried rice.

5.  Waffles or pancakes.

6.  Mashed potatoes.

7.  Mac-and-cheese.

8.  Baked potatoes.

9.  Cheeseburgers.

10.  French fries.  Fried chicken and pizza barely missed the top ten.  (Only 1 in 5 said fresh fruit cheers them up, and just 1 in 7 said the same about vegetables.)

The survey also asked for your go-to food when you’re having a bad day, OR a good day.  And for both, the #1 answer was chocolate.

What Weird Thing Did Your School Ban?

An elite private school in Perth, Australia has banned the mullet, deeming it “unacceptable”. The mullet, after peaking in the 1990s, has been on a roaring resurgence as of late. The school said, ““It is without reservation that the College sets clear requirements that ensure health and safety, as well as setting a high standard for personal presentation. The current trend of growing the hair at the back of the head and/or closely cropping the sides of the head to accentuate the ‘mullet’ style are untidy, non-conventional and not acceptable…”

There is nothing more dangerous than a man with a mullet.

Do You Miss Blockbuster?

After the release of the Netflix documentary “The Last Blockbuster”, the brand’s final video store, which resides in Bend, Oregon, has soared in popularity. The blue & yellow interior has not only been filled with thousands of videos, but lately, flowers and cards from people who were so moved by the documentary that they wanted to send a gift. It’s ironic that Netflix produced the documentary, as Blockbuster had a chance to buy Netflix many moons ago. Is it fair to say the world would look drastically different had that happened?

Do you miss Blockbuster? Are there any extinct retail offerings that you really wish would make a comeback? Tell us over on our Facebook page!

Your favorite bands predict the upcoming MLB season

Baseball season is here!  Few sports can affect all the senses quite like it.  The sound of the crowd and the crack of the bat.  The taste of a perfectly grilled hot dog.  The smell of barf coming from 3 rows behind you thanks to the Chad who couldn’t hold his liquor in the Wrigley Field bleachers.  DUDE!  With Opening Day tomorrow, temperatures warming up, and the ability for people to actually go to games, I am REALLY excited for this season.  So are a bunch of your favorite bands.  Check out who Tom from Blink-182, Patrick from Black Keys, and our very own Tim McIlrath of Rise Against think about their favorite team’s chances this year HERE.  Will we finally get an all Chicago World Series?  After everything we’ve been through in the last year we deserve it!!!

A Guy Sent His New Girlfriend an Itemized Spreadsheet for Their First Romantic Weekend Away . . . Red Flag?

Nothing says romance like sending your new girlfriend to the accounts receivable department.

A woman just posted a story on Reddit’s Relationships channel about her first romantic weekend away with her new boyfriend.

As they were planning, he sent her a spreadsheet, quote, “literally breaking down the cost of everything to the cent . . . telling me I owed him $167.99.  [I] would happily have just given him $200 to cover my share of the weekend.”

“He’s an accountant so I get that he kinda does spreadsheets for a living, but this has ruined the vibe of the weekend for me.  I’m his new girlfriend . . . not a client to send an invoice outlining every cent.  Am I right to feel this is weird and unreasonable?”

So IS that a red flag?  Not ALL of the responses are taking her side.  I mean, most of them are . . . but some people are giving the guy the benefit of the doubt.

One person said, quote, “She’s with him because she likes him so far.  He seems like a bit of a dork . . . but honestly there are much worse things.  He probably just needs to chill out a touch.”

PRANKED: “Volts-wagen” turns out to be early April Fools’ Day joke.

UPDATE, 3/31/21:

Volkswagon admits it purposely pranked reporters on the name change.  What, I gotta be skeptical a WHOLE WEEK around April 1st now?

ORIGINAL STORY:

Volkswagen looks to be changing the name of its US division to Voltswagen — as the famed maker of the Beetle and Microbus embraces electric vehicle technology, according to multiple reports.

It looks like the German car manufacturer spilled the beans by mistake on their website, which has since been removed.  But it’s a smart move, a move we first got wind of when they revealed the electric ID Buzz concept a few years ago (pictured below).  Rumor has it you’ll be able to purchase this vehicle in 2023 or 2024.

Perry Farrell wants Lollapalooza 2021 “in one capacity or another”

Lollapalooza founder and Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell says he is hopeful that Chicago will be able to experience the festival in 2021, he said in a recent interview:

“If we can all stay on course, get vaccinated, stay socially distanced and masked up, maybe — please, God, maybe — we’ll get to go to Chicago in early August in one capacity or another,” he said. “If it’s not a giant Lollapalooza, it might be a half-capacity Lollapalooza or no Lollapalooza. But I want there to be a Lollapalooza in some capacity so bad.”
