Remember the Snuggie? How about the Weezer Snuggie?

It’s been a crappy spring in Chicago. Don’t you wish you could buy the Weezer Snuggie?

More than a decade ago now,  the band was doing promotion for their newly released album Raditude. Being no stranger to tapping into all kinds of cultural phenomena, Rivers and company knew immediately….slapping their name on the front of a blanket with sleeves was a — winner?  As Rivers recounted in an interview, he wasn’t sure why:

“It’s hard to understand the appeal of this product,” Cuomo told MTV News. “Obviously it’s a giant hit, but I don’t really understand why. But as soon as we came up with the idea, we were like, ‘Yes! This is it!’ Cultural critics are going to have to go back and figure out what was going on here. It was genius, but at this moment we don’t know why.”

If you’re hoping to snag a Snuggie at the merch table this Tuesday during Ahoy! with Weezer, I wouldn’t bet on it.  Perhaps eBay can be your savior? — [eric]

Half-century old fries found inside wall of suburban Chicago home

That fast food may stick to your hips a little longer than you thought.

During a home remodeling project in suburban Crystal Lake, a couple found decades old McDonald’s wrappers and a bag of still intact French fries inside the walls of their bathroom.

The Jones family say their home was built in 1959 and a franchise of the popular fast food restaurant opened up around that time. As to how those fries survived the test of time?

“My thoughts are that it was likely the salt that dried out and preserved the fries, not actual preservatives,” said Grace Jones, “Or at least that’s what I’m telling myself.”

A guy on Tinder sent a dating “application”

A woman was on Tinder recently and matched with a cute guy. Instead of trying to get to know her right away, or even say ‘hello’, he sent her a dating application filled with weird questions. They started off simple, then got more weird as it went on. It even asked her to rate the quiz at the end. It’s been shared on social and has since blown up. What would you do?

You won’t ducking believe this! The man who invented autocorrect explains himself

The Apple engineer who invented autocorrect for the iPhone and spent over 15 years at Apple is Ken Kencionda. He says there were several fails with autocorrect. Your phone tries to guess what words you meant based on where your fingers land, and what other words are around it. There is also a static dictionary and a dynamic dictionary. The static, is the one with words it knows. The dynamic dictionary is words that YOU use, like a slang word or a common name you give something. It doesn’t always use the dynamic dictionary first. To fix it, go to settings, general, keyboard, and then finally, text replacement. You can put in a shortcut for your favorite word… like duck.

But this song is bar far one of the most expensive, and you’ve definitely heard it before. The answer is- AC/DC’s ‘Thunderstruck.’ It was used in a lot of movies but broke a record for most expensive when Varsity Blues used it 20 years ago. It wouldn’t be the same scene without THAT song though.

Reading List: “None Of This Rocks” from Fall Out Boy’s guitarist Joe Trohman

Fall Out Boy’s lead guitarist Joe Trohman is releasing a book this fall called, “None Of This Rocks.” He promises it will be like no other memoir you’ve ever read. A summary of the book via Waterstones reads: “None Of This Rocks is a memoir by Joe Trohman – lead guitarist and co-founder of Fall Out Boy – that reads like a double album full of revealing stories from his youth and his experiences of modern rock and roll stardom. With wit and wisdom, and maybe a little bit of whining, Trohman grapples with depression, his mother’s brain cancer, antisemitism, pills, petty larceny, side hustles, and pop-punk at the turn of the century.” The book will be available September 13th. Taylor Hawkins rockin’ tribute!

The Rockin’ 1000 is a group of musicians (mostly from Italy) who assemble and play/sing simultaneously at various public spaces. A few weeks ago, the “biggest band in the world” returned with this tribute to the late Taylor Hawkins staged in a public square in Turin, Italy.

You may recall this 2015 viral video when the Rockin’ 500 gathered to entice the Foo Fighters to play their corner of Italy in Cesena. (The Foo Fighters did play a three hour concert there in November 2015)

You can buy the smashed Noel Gallagher guitar from the night that Oasis broke up

Oasis broke up on 2009 after Noel and Liam Gallagher got into one of their massive fights. Supposedly, Liam broke Noel’s Gibson ES-355. They were supposed to play a show in Paris but Liam stormed out of the dressing room, twice. First he threw a plum at the wall- scary! Then he came back and smashed Noel’s guitar up after banging it against the ground, several times. He was really trying to send a message. The guitar was one of Noel’s favorites. You can now buy this guitar in an auction hosted by Artpeges Gallery. The starting price? Around $160,000… pocket change right?
