People had it rough back in the day when it comes to dating. You either had to ask a stranger out, get set up by your cousin, or go on a dating audition tape through a service. All are terrifying options. Watch this old dating tape and you’ll see what we’re talking about- yikes!
What’s your biggest driving fear? Getting rear-ended? Hitting a semi? This driver was unfortunate enough to have gotten a giant log fly through his windshield, and it looks like it’s straight out of the movie Final Destination. How terrifying!
A lot of people have the hardest time apologizing. Even at a young age this little girl refuses to say ‘sorry’ and it’s adorable. She’s got a good excuse though. Maybe try using this one next time!
Hard to believe it has been five years since we lost Chris Cornell. One of the most talented beings on this planet. Almost, otherworldly. Maybe he is. Please join me at noon central today for a very special tribute to Chris, listen anywhere at Q101.com or ask your smart speaker to play KQX. <3 Lauren
First time meeting Chris back in 2005
I was lucky enough to spend some time with Chris whether on the phone, in person or in the audience watching him do what he was put here to do.
Amazing intimate session in 2015
I’d like to share a sit down I had with Chris that was never posted publicly due to mic and sound issues, and hope you will see past that to feel the intimacy and warmth that was in the 101WKQX Studio 7 on October 7, 2015:
and a clip from the night before at the Chicago Theatre:
The first time I spoke with Chris was over the phone in September of 2012 when he called in to chat about Soundgarden coming back after 15 years gone guns blazing with a new album and tour, this is a clip about wanting fans to have the full album experience:
And about Soundgarden’s brand new fans:
this is a clip about how he grateful he is to do what he does:
Where ever you are, I hope you are at peace. We sure do miss you. No one sings like you anymore.
May is Mental Health Awareness month so it makes sense to ask the question, are you happy? This man was given that same question in a store, randomly, and his answer will change your day and possibly your mind set! Love this guy!
A couple spotted a man on I-75 in Florida on the side of the road, working on his golf game. Cars were whizzing by at top speed as he was teeing off at his own made-up hole. Let’s hope he’s a straight shooter, otherwise a car might be in for a surprise. You can see in this video just how close he was to the freeway!
It’s almost officially summer, which means, mosquitoes are going to be out in full effect. A recent study, found that mosquitoes are more attracted to people who wear red, orange or black clothes. Green, Purple, Blue or White are much better options, especially in the long-sleeve version. You should always try to cover up your skin obviously. First, they find us by the CO2 from our breath, then their eyes scan for color patterns of the host and head to them. Our skin, emits a strong, red/orange signal to the skeeters, which is why you should avoid those colors. It’s a great excuse to get some new summer clothes!
Mosquitos are stored in tubes for examination at the Beach Mosquito Control District.

When asked, “Do you cook?” this adorable kid had the best response. “No, I eat” he said. He also doesn’t run after buses, trains, or girls. Sounds like this child has his priorities in order already.

Her billionaire son may have been hogging the headlines lately, what with his whole Twitter takeover thing, but move over — Maye has been a model for the past 50 years and after becoming one of four women to grace the cover this year, she’s the Musk we’re all currently — “lusking” for?
This woman was trying to celebrate her birthday when the neighbors called the cops. It was early in the morning and they were being loud… but she retaliated, with a PA system. Too much?
A man missed a stop sign in his SUV, and got pulled over by cops… on horseback. He knew they had more horsepower than him, so he didn’t try to get away. Instead of ticket, the man got a warning AND he got to pet a horsey! A real win, win!
Mounted Patrol wanted to make sure our community is aware of the importance of stop signs. Yesterday, a young man was pulled over for the first time and it happened to be by a horse. Luckily, instead of a ticket, he got to pet the horse. pic.twitter.com/9ebPw0MIPz
Kingsland, Arkansas is the hometown of Johnny Cash. To honor him, his outline is on the town’s water tower. A few days ago, someone thought it would be funny to shoot it… in a very specific spot, the groin. It looks like Johnny is relieving himself. But the town is losing it’s water, and doesn’t find the prank funny at all!
Tom Brady took out a city bike and rode around New York. Imagine being the woman in the crosswalk and realizing that Tom Brady just stopped his bike for you. What a gentleman!
These are some of the best classic joints that Chicago has to offer. Whether it’s a nice steak place or you just want a good ol’ fashioned dog, these are some of the go-to’s that you should know!
Gene & Georgetti- An old school steakhouse that is simply the best! Opened in 1941, it’s the oldest in town!
Borinquen Lounge- Their claim to fame? The jibarito. It’s a must try garlicy sammy with plantains. You’ll love it.
Chicago Diner- Meat free comfort food, with your classic diner vibe. It was so successful in North Halsted they opened another in Logan Square.
Calumet Fisheries- It’s a shack with some of the best smoked fish and macaroni salad. There’s no indoor seating so you’ll have to use the hood of your car.

Linkin Park’s ‘Minutes to Midnight’ turned 15 last week and they’re celebrating by reissuing it a deluxe version with four songs added to it. The songs were only previously available on the Japanese albums and on iTunes. Now streaming everywhere!
A White Sox fan brought an actual live, fluffy, cute, bunny to the game! Yes, they have dog day, but no official rabbit day. It still didn’t stop this fan from bringing his favorite pet. Also, no idea how he got that through security. The black and white rabbit was supporting the team with the proper colors at least!
Before their show in Oakland, Pearl Jam found out that their drummer Matt Cameron had COVID. They needed a drummer stat, and they found one through Eddie’s daughter Olivia. She took to Twitter and discovered a local high schooler in a band called ‘The Alive.’ Kai Neukermans was more than ecstatic to take the stage with Pearl Jam. He was one of many drummers that the bands called on to fill in that night. Here is Kai killing it on “Mind Your Manners.”
