The best old-school Chicago restaurants

These are some of the best classic joints that Chicago has to offer. Whether it’s a nice steak place or you just want a good ol’ fashioned dog, these are some of the go-to’s that you should know!

Gene & Georgetti- An old school steakhouse that is simply the best! Opened in 1941, it’s the oldest in town!

Borinquen Lounge- Their claim to fame? The jibarito. It’s a must try garlicy sammy with plantains. You’ll love it.

Chicago Diner- Meat free comfort food, with your classic diner vibe. It was so successful in North Halsted they opened another in Logan Square.

Calumet Fisheries- It’s a shack with some of the best smoked fish and macaroni salad. There’s no indoor seating so you’ll have to use the hood of your car.

Superdawg Drive-In- Started in 1948, they have some of the best Chicago dogs you can find and a drive-in format pre Sonic.
