Should this Dad keep his mouth shut, or tell his daughter ho he really feels?
Ahoy Brian Ali & Justin I know you guys are busy so I will just get right to it. I hate hate hate my daughters boyfriend. He’s cheated on her, he’s relapsed a couple times and he treats her like crap. He can’t keep a job, he’s the definition of a loser. Last night my daughter calls me all excited because he proposed to her. She knows I’m not a huge fan of him but I’ve never fully told her my feelings and don’t know if I should. When I was raising her I knew someday she would meet somebody and get married but never in a million years did I think it would be with someone like him. Have I mentioned that I hate him? What do I do here? Should I tell her my true feelings or just play nice like I have been the last two years? As of right now the only push back I’ve given them is that I told her I was disappointed he didn’t have a talk with me before asking her hand in marriage. I love my daughter with all my heart and I will do anything in the world to protect her but I am terrified I will lose her if I come on too strong. You guys should’ve heard this jerk call me dad last night on the phone and jokingly ask me how much money I’m going to give them for the wedding and if I’m going to pay for it. What’s your guys divorce attorney‘s name? If I’m going to pay for anything it’s going to be putting him on retainer. I love your show because you always keep it real and I look forward to your raw honest truth on my current situation.
Sincerely,
Disappointed Dad in Wheaton
Sunday’s storm brought flash floods to the city, more than we’ve seen in years. The sewer system was overwhelmed causing water spouts all over the city. This is what happened on Lawrence Ave!
This man managed to bury, in his secret hiding spot, several water bottles filled with vodka so that when he attended this festival, he wouldn’t have to pay the $17 per drink. Can you blame him? This way he got a buzz on and some new friends! This is a real man of genius!

The PAWS Chicago 5K is a massive run/walk fundraising event that kicked off last Saturday at Montrose Beach. Participants brought their PAWS rescues to walk and raised money for future animals that will come through the doors of PAWS. Reggie, my rescue pup, and I got there early to play on the agility course, and eat as many treats as possible, to carb-load of course! A huge thanks to everyone that works at PAWS, specifically my favorite ladies, Sarah, Kayleigh, and Coco!
PAWS Chicago helped over 4,000 dogs and cats find homes last year, they gave over 25,000 medical procedures to at-risk and homeless pets, and they were able to save over 97% of the animals that came to them. Every dollar counts! https://www.pawschicago.org/

Class is in session. This is Riot Fest 101 — with Sunny Day Real Estate.
They hail from Seattle — yet, ironically, are considered the forefathers of Midwest emo. And as fast as they burst on the scene, it seemed their end arrived: Sunny Day Real Estate disbanded, with bassist Nate Mendel and drummer William Goldsmith leaving to join Foo Fighters and lead singer Jeremy Enigk opting for a solo run.
Stereogum listed the Top 10 songs from the band in a 2013 feature — and painted a picture of their place in the History Of Alternative:
“As grunge was ravaging their Seattle homebase in the early ’90s, Sunny Day emerged as spiritual opposites: Where Nirvana wallowed in their own misery, Enigk and company exorcised theirs, blending post-hardcore propulsion with an expressiveness and sweetness untapped in most modern rock.”
Stereogum, 2013
It’s been a dozen years since Sunny Day Real Estate has hit the road, so while fans no doubt will be looking forward to seeing them at Riot Fest, casual music lovers should take the opportunity to check them out — you never know when you may have the chance again. They play the Radicals Stage on Saturday [8PM].
Tickets are on sale for Riot Fest 2022 — you can also check out the lineup and complete schedules.
What were you doing 10 years ago? Given the 24/7 news cycle that we have become inundated with, 2012 feels like a lifetime ago. This was the year that introduced to Gotye, The Dark Knight Rises, the hell that was Apple Maps.
For Billy Corgan, it was the last time that he and the Smashing Pumpkins graced Chicago’s most iconic venue. On June 14, 2012, the band ripped through a blistering, 15-song setlist, with such high points as Zero, Ava Adore, and Muzzle, all of which can be watched here.
For the first time in a decade, the Smashing Pumpkins will play the Metro on September 20 for Q101’s “An Evening With the Smashing Pumpkins” and the only way to get in is to win them from Q101.
Starting at 6:00AM on September 13, we’ll be giving away tickets every half hour, every hour, every day until the day of the show.

Alexa! C’mon now! He’s still speaking English. He just wanted her to “calm it down a wee bit.” Didn’t they teach her accents when trained her?!
You laugh and you go to hell! We love Paul Walker, but this MIGHT be pretty funny. RIP buddy.
Some people still believe in soulmates. To some, the idea seems ridiculous, but after some of these stories you might start to think a different way. These couples were destined to be together. They all have incredibly cute stories of odd coincidences. Check it out!

This announcer had some poor phrasing during the Bears-Niner’s game on Sunday. At some point during the second quarter he said, “if he’s in the box, he’s coming, and he’s coming hard and fast.” Maybe there was no better of putting it, but the ruling still stands, hilarious!

This Reddit user may have made a terrible decision airing this out publicly. Asking if his song for doing the deed was a mistake.
Is he the odd one out here or do you think maybe he just needs to find the right person to share it with? The conversation lives on Facebook!
While Ernie Banks of the Chicago Cubs meant BASEBALL when he said his catch phrase — “Let’s Play Two!” — a repeat visit from a Q101 artist to The Lounge is always twice as nice.
Check your pockets right now! You might have a quarter worth $2000! There are some rare, but still very much in circulation, quarters from Wisconsin. The specific year that’s worth some actual ‘coin,’ is 2004. Apparently, there were some errors in those, making them highly sought after. Go look in your cup holder, you could be a thousandaire.
34-year-old Joshua Walker just broke the Guinness World Record for “Longest Hoop Shot” with a whooping 113 feet 6 inches! This was on the first try too. Incredible, watch!
