On Tuesday night, emergency crews pulled a body out of Diversey Harbor near Dock O. The body was then identified as Peter Salvino, a Northwestern University doctoral student, who disappeared on Sunday. His friends and family were searching for Salvino in Lincoln Park at the time his body was found.
Salvino left a party in Lincoln Park on Saturday night and planned to walk to his home about a half-mile away. He FaceTimed a friend at 11:59 p.m. to tell them he was walking to his apartment, but by 12:15, it was radio silence. Per Fox 32’s reporting, no one heard from Salvino after that.
Q101 sends their thoughts to his friends and family.
Don Caskey, of Ohio, says he has convinced more than 600 strangers to get $40,000 worth of matching tattoos with him, and he’s still going. The 56-year-old was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma in December 2018 after spotting blood in his urine. Since then, he has connected with hundreds of people in an effort to be remembered long after he expires.
“Getting a mark on each other’s bodies, a forever mark that they’ll never forget, and they’ll keep with them throughout life and afterward, they’ll take it with them when they go, so we’re connected together forever by ink,” he explained. Most of his markings are smaller than the palm of his hand and still have not covered his body. He hopes to fill his skin with 1,500 more designs.

A blizzard could hit Chicago on Thursday and last through Saturday. While nothing is guaranteed, reports are predicting that heavy snowfall and winds 40-50mph will engulf Chicago on the first half of Friday. Per Tom Kines of AccuWeather, “The snow combined with the strong winds, with gusts up to 50 mph possible, will be dangerous, impairing people’s visibility and creating potentially dangerous cold.” Kines said he also expects Chicago to get 6 or more inches of snow.
Kines added, “Regardless of where the storm tracks, Chicagoans should expect for their holiday travel plans to be impacted, the meteorologists said. Flights will “most definitely” be canceled, and people should try to travel earlier in the week or stay at home.”

Brian is a man of tradition. Change is something that no one likes, but Brian likes to push forward back and delay the passing of time as much as possible. He struggles with anything out of the ordinary, and one of those unordinary things is this story of a man who made his turtle his flower girl.
Paul & Shannon McDonald on their wedding day
The Chicago native has been with his turtle for 24 years, and at The Westin Chicago River North last month, the turtle graced the room by carrying the ring from the doorway to the alter. Per Paul McDonald, the owner of the turtle, his longtime friend is a “social turtle” who never popped into her shell. She thrived under the pressure.
We with these two, and their turtle, the best of luck.
Le Barkery, a living definition of “expendable income”, is thriving in Uptown. Our friends at Block Club Chicago put this store on our radar thanks to this story, which highlights the success of a dog bakery compared to the owner’s prior human-targeted bakeries. We don’t have any issue with the owner of this store, nor do we have any issues with people loving their pets, we’re just astounded that there is this big of a market to feed dogs luxury treats. They eat dirt, you know? They don’t need a cupcake.
How much do you spend on your pets every year? The conversation lives on Facebook!
White Sox fan Bennett Karoll is fed up with the White Sox. Thanks to a GoFundMe that he started, there are now “Sell the team, Jerry” billboards going up on the Southside. Karoll is one of 350 people that donated to the cause. The billboards, which will be 12 by 8 feet on a black background with white lettering, will be up for at least the first two months of the season, Karoll said.
Karoll admits that there’s “zero chance” that Reinsdorf will be motivated to sell the team after seeing these billboards, but that doesn’t matter to him. Karoll just wants him to read it.
Kendra Licari of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, is facing charges after allegedly sending hateful messages to teenage students, including her daughter, under fake names on the Internet. Per Good Morning America, “The shocking charges come after a yearlong investigation into a complaint filed by Beal City Public Schools after Licari’s teenage daughter and her boyfriend reported getting harassing messages.”
The 42-year-old woman allegedly used software to hide her location and used several numbers and area codes, even allegedly trying to pin the origin of the messages as coming from her daughter’s classmates. When confronted with the evidence, Licari admitted the messages were sent by her.
Dave Grohl salutes the crowd at Wrigley Field during an appearance with Foo Fighters
Dave Grohl‘s annual Hanukkah Sessions has begun — and the director of such favorites as The 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Trainwreck, and The King Of Staten Island took center stage.
Judd Apatow took vocals while Dave took his familiar seat behind the drums as the trio launched into the 1968 hit Spinning Wheel from Blood Sweat & Tears.
The Foo Fighters frontman and producer Greg Kurstin have been doing the event since 2020 — covering a Jewish artist each of the eight nights of Hanukkah.
Everyone wants in on the fun now that AHOY! is moving to The Salt Shed. It was announced over the weekend that Goose Island is taking their operations from Lincoln Park to The Salt Shed. The new location is just across the river from the titular Goose Island.

Andres Cantor, an Argentinian-American announcer, was on the call for Argentina’s final goal in the thrilling 2022 World Cup Final. Cantor is visibly moved alongside his partner, of whom he embraces shortly after the reality sets in.

The father of the suspected Highland Park, Illinois, mass shooter appeared in virtual bond court in Lake County on Saturday, a day after being charged with seven counts of reckless conduct in connection with the shooting. Per ABC News, “Robert Crimo Jr. took a “reckless and unjustified risk” when he signed the Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card for his son to apply for gun ownership, Lake County State’s Attorney Eric Rinehart said at a news conference Friday. At the time, his son was 19 and could not get a FOID card on his own because was not 21 or over; Those who are 18, 19 or 20 are required to have parent or guardian authorization.”

Matty Healy has had quite the tour. Besides headlining a raucous Twisted Xmas event, Healy has consumed raw meat on stage, got a tattoo on stage, and now has continued his trend of kissing people on stage, this time giving a lucky fan her first kiss.
Healy checked a woman’s ID in Minneapolis before planting a smooch on her. Haters, losers, and dorks have criticized The 1975 frontman for his theatrics, but we don’t think there’s anything sexier than making sure that everyone is of age before making a move on them.
Package theft is up 87% this month, year over year. Porch pirates are the WORST, man. That’s why I’ve always enjoyed former NASA engineer Mark Rober‘s annual GlitterBomb videos — giving us all a chance to revel in the misfortunes of thieves opening up a booby-trapped package. However, this will be the LAST year of the video, so enjoy.
Congratulations to Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea — his is a Dad again!
The 60 year old musician and wife Melody welcomed their first child together on Monday, December 12th. (And that’s all the couple has revealed about the new arrival, BTW)
Just days before the baby’s arrival, Flea told People, “I love being a dad, and I can’t even believe that I’m about to have another baby.”
The City of Chicago has asked the Internet to name six of it’s new snowplows…and I can’t possibly see this backfiring on them in anyway possible.
The You Name A Snowplow contest is up and running right now. Phase 1 is an open acceptance of names, until January 6th or until they receive 20,000 entries — which ever comes first. The second phase will be a vote based upon 50 entries chosen by the Department of Streets & Sanitation.
