Jeremiah Green, drummer for Modest Mouse, has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer

Jeremiah Green, drummer for Modest Mouse, has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, according to a post from Issac on the band’s facebook page:

“Hi. Some of you may have already heard, but I figured it would be good to hear the news directly from our camp. Jeremiah was diagnosed with cancer a short while ago, and he’s currently in treatment. It seems to be going smoothly and making a positive difference. Jeremiah, as am I, are believers in the power of positive energy, so if you would be so kind as to send “good vibes”( to quote Jeremiah) in the direction of Jeremiah and his family, that’d be great.
Thank you and love,
Isaac Brock”

Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips + Jack White and a fiber-optic Jesus at a Beck show.

20 years ago, The Flaming Lips were touring with Beck in Detroit and Jack White presented Wayne an interesting gift that inspired an interesting song.

The song appears on The Flaming Lips 20th anniversary edition of their album “Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots”.

The performance was recorded in front of a live audience at Largo in Los Angeles earlier this month for the third annual edition of Grohl and Kurstin’s The Hanukkah Sessions, which celebrates the religious festival with covers of songs by Jewish musicians.

Night Five featured Beck’s “E-Pro”.

Night Six: Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s “Heads Wil Roll”

Sports reporter lets it fly on air while covering a snow storm

Not all heroes wear capes. Mark Woodley, the “sports guy” at KWWL in Waterloo, IA gives no F’s as he covers the blizzard last night (this morning?) “I didn’t even realize that there was a 3:30 also in the morning until today.”

Watch his compilation below for such gems as; “What better time to ask the sports guy to come in about five hours earlier than he would normally wake up, go stand out in the wind and the snow and the cold, and tell other people not to do the same?”

“Tune in for the next couple of hours to watch me progressively get crankier and crankier.”

“I’ve got good news, and I’ve got bad news. The good news is that I can still feel my face right now. The bad news is I kind of wish I couldn’t.”

“How do I get that Stormchaser 7 duty? I feel like Clint got the better end of that deal. That thing’s heated… the outdoors currently is not heated.”

I want to party with this dude. <3 Lauren

Schaumburg wants to give you $150 to combat inflation

More than 18,000 would qualify for these checks if it were go to happen as currently planned.

Payments are still pending a formal approval, which is expected to happen during the next village board meeting on January 10.

Your commute home on Thursday is probably going to suck

With Chicago’s incoming winter storm being updated from a “watch” to a “warning”, we are facing the unfortunate reality that the next few days could be really rough. “Hunker down if you can, bundle up if you can’t — and keep an eye on each other either way” is the message from Chicago city leaders as they prepare for the storm to roll in on Thursday. Per Fox 32, “A winter storm warning from the National Weather Service goes into effect Thursday morning ahead of a steep temperature drop by the afternoon,” meteorologist Mike Bardou said.

“A light drizzle is expected to turn to snow, ushering in the worst conditions just in time for the evening commute,” Bardou said. Temperatures dropping by 25 degrees, into the low teens or single digits, are expected to create dangerously icy conditions.

Expect to see up to four inches of snow on Thursday with snowfall continuing into Friday to go along with temperatures barely above zero.

If you see someone struggling to stay warm, you’re asked to call 3-1-1 and report their location.

Now THAT’S a party trick

I know not everyone feels the same way, but I LOVE watching Monday Night Football with the Manning brothers, Peyton and Eli. Their commentary is hilarious only to be matched by their constant ripping on each other. It really is magical. For example, talking through Gumby’s finest moment caught on camera… <3 Lauren

The world’s most insecure billionaire is stepping down as Twitter CEO, as soon as he can find a replacement

Elon Musk f’ed around and found out. In a fit of rage and insecurity, Musk tweeted a poll on December 18 asking if he should step down as Twitter CEO.

With over 17 million votes, Musk learned that nearly 58% of voters wanted him to step down, thus Musk has announced that he would resign from the role he took on during his $44billion takeover – once he finds a replacement ‘foolish enough’ to replace him.

Unrelated, but Telsa stock is nearing record-low levels.

The Bulls are falling apart

Shams Charania of The Athletic has reported that Zach LaVine and the Bulls are not seeing eye-to-eye. After an impressive 46-36 finish last year, the Bulls have regressed this year with the LaVine-led Bulls failing to live up to their preseason expectations. They now sit at 12-18 and are going nowhere fast. Joe Cowley confirmed that in the midst of getting slaughtered by the Timberwolves, that there was a locker room blowup with players directing their anger towards LaVine.

LaVine signed a five-year max deal with the Bulls in July worth $215.2 million. Now, with the Victor Wenbamyama sweepstakes heating up, the Bulls have an opportunity to shed LaVine, DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic and possibly alter the direction of their franchise by scoring the first pick in the draft and scooping up Wenbamyama.
