Somebody got really high and then redesigned Soldier Field. The Bears want to make those renovations

Landmark Development released a video on Sunday providing a virtual tour of what Soldier Field could look like after a complete remodel. We’re not saying they were smoking a little something something while drawing up these blueprints…but come on.

The redevelopment would expand seating to include approximately 61,500-70,000 total seats. It also quadruples the space for food and drink options.

Are you in favor of the Bears staying in the city if they can pull this off, or would you rather have them in Arlington Heights? The conversation lives on Facebook!

Peoples Gas seeking record-breaking price hike next year

$402 million. That’s the price hike that Peoples Gas has circled. Chicago residents could see their monthly natural gas bills rise by an average of $11.83 starting next year if state regulators approve rate hikes totaling $402 million as requested Friday by Peoples Gas. Peoples is asking for permission to raise rates by $195 million while also merging an additional $207 million into delivery costs to offset a $15-per-month surcharge slated to expire at the end of the year.

The commerce commission has the rest of this year to decide on Peoples’ request, but that agency has a full docket of other rate hike requests covering most of the state.

If you own a MacBook, Apple may owe you money as a part of a class-action settlement

If you purchased an Apple MacBook laptop equipped with a certain kind of keyboard between the years of 2015 and 2019, you may be eligible for a payment of up to $395 as part of a nationwide class-action settlement. According to the lawsuit, Apple sold defective butterfly keyboards. The malfunctions, the lawsuit claims, can result in “characters repeating unexpectedly; letters or characters not appearing; and/or the keys feeling “sticky” or not responding in a consistent manner.”

If you did purchase a MacBook between 2015 and 2019, you might be owed a payout. However, the amount you could receive is based on tiers, and you’ll need specific information in order to correctly file a claim.

NBC 5 has provided all of the information here.

A new sticker is designed to prevent catalytic converter thefts

Chicago police have teamed up with auto shops in an effort to halt the speed of catalytic converter thefts. Andy Bizurp, who owns Midwest Performance on West Fulton, worked with officers to design a sticker that will be able to track these converters. “This has an acid etching in it,” Bizub said. “Once you apply the sticker, the acid will etch the numbers into the catalytic converter. Those numbers will remain and it will still be traceable.”

Others are expected to follow suit, depending on funds made available by each alderman’s office.

A Chicago t-shirt company is raising money for Damar Hamlin’s foundation

Obvious Shirts, a Chicago-based t-shirt company and premier destination for Cubs fans who are looking for something a little different, have joined the parade of supporting Damar Hamlin and his foundation. Company founder Joe Johnson obviously wanted to help Hamlin given his highly public situation, but for him, it was also personal. Johnson suffered from Kawasaki Syndrome at ages three and five and had to wear a heart guard while playing youth sports.

Their shirt can be found here.

Damar Hamlin tweeted from his hospital bed on Sunday afternoon that he has created his own shirt with proceeds going to first responders and the UC Trauma Center.

That shirt can be purchased here.

Bears miraculously stumble into #1 overall pick

The Bears, who started the season winning two out of their first three games, struggled to find their footing as the season continued. They lost their last 10 games and thanks to a little help from former Bears head coach Lovie Smith and his Houston Texans, who squeaked out a victory over the Indianapolis Colts, the Bears have secured the first overall pick in the draft.

The Bears will have the first overall pick for the first time since 1947. Among the available players, the Bears have a chance to grab possibly elite defenders in Will Anderson (Alabama) or Jalen Carter (Georgia). Because the Bears don’t need a quarterback (assuming Justin Fields doesn’t have any injury setbacks), they are also in the market to trade down to teams like Houston, Indianapolis, or Carolina.

For the first time in a long time, it feels good to be a Bears fan.

Damar Hamlin breathing on his own, FaceTiming Bills teammates

PHOTO: Lon Horwede/USA TODAY NETWORK

Damar Hamlin continues his miraculous recovery from the shocking cardiac arrest he suffered in front of America on Monday Night Football.

The Bills safety is reportedly no longer being assisted with ventilations and has even FaceTimed with some of his teammates (the latest here from CNN, updated regularly).

But the most amazing development in this story, IMHO, was this interaction with his doctor:

Indeed.

Remember, all of this would not have been possible unless the Chain Of Survival hadn’t started almost immediately after his collapse in Cincinnati. Here’s a quick, down and dirty lesson on how YOU could help if you ever come across someone not breathing and without a pulse.

Nirvana to receive Lifetime Achievement Grammy

Nirvana was nominated for 7 Grammys during their time together, but only scored one win in 1996 for their Unplugged album when they won “Best Alternative Music Performance.”

Colorado funeral home owner sentenced to 20 years in prison for selling body parts

Megan Hess, a Colorado funeral home operator accused of illegally selling body parts and giving clients fake ashes, was sentenced to 20 years in prison Tuesday by a federal court judge. Hess received the maximum penalty after pleading guilty to mail fraud. She and her mother, who was also charged, were shipping body parts to third parties for research without the consent of the deceased family.

Hess’ mother said during the sentencing, “I acknowledge my guilt and take responsibility for my actions. I’m very sorry for harm I caused you and your families.”

Bridgeport soul food restaurant tagged with “Black Lives Don’t Matter” vandalism

Cook It Mama Cafe, located at 545 W 31st St, was covered with “BLDM” (Black Lives Don’t Matter) tags on Wednesday. The vandalism damaged a mural of a Black woman on one side of the building as well as colorful decor at the entry. Cook It Mama Cafe will likely reopen next week once security measures are installed, according to Block Club Chicago.

A GoFundMe has been set up to fund security cameras, an alarm, and to clean up the exterior of the establishment.

Police are investigating the situation, but no one is in custody.

Q101 sends our regards to owner Sydney Blakely and anyone else affected by this senseless action.

A bunch of rich ass parents are pumped for a $3,300 self-driving stroller

The baby gear company Gluxkind is ready to debut their Ella AI Powered Smart Stroller at an upcoming consumer electronics show in Las Vegas. The smart stroller offers much of the same tech seen in autonomous cars and delivery robots, including a dual-motor system for uphill walks and automatic downhill brake assist. The Ella stroller is able to drive itself for hands-free strolling, but only when a child is not inside. It uses cameras to monitor surroundings and navigate the sidewalks.

For $3,300, parents can join the pre-order list for the 30-pound Ella, one of the consumer tech products named as an Innovation Awards Honoree at the 2023 CES show. Deliveries of the stroller are expected to begin in April 2023, according to the company website.

How can bystanders help in a medical emergency? Start the “chain of survival.”

Hi, I’m Eric from Q101. But when I’m not introducing the latest Panic! At The Disco record, I’m working my career — as a firefighter/paramedic in the suburbs of Chicago.

In the wake of what America witnessed on the NFL field this week, Brian & Justin correctly seized upon a question a lot of us are asking — how could we help (in the low percentage but very real chance, unfortunately) if something like that were to happen around you?

Here is a summary of the things I said as a guest of the show this morning — all a part of the concept known as Chain Of Survival:

  • First, make sure help is on the way by assigning someone to call 9-1-1. Don’t assume someone already has. Don’t assume first responders know where you are and what you are dealing with. The faster an ambulance can get moving your way, the better.
  • #2 — if someone is not breathing and doesn’t have a pulse, start hands-only CPR. Put one hand over the other and push hard & fast in the center of the chest. Keep doing that until help arrives.
  • Lastly, if there is an automated external defibrillator (AED) available — make sure that someone grabs it. Open it up. It will give you instructions on what to do. That simple.

The concept of the “Chain Of Survival” starts with immediate care in the field — whether it be stroke recognition, CPR and early defibrillation, or stopping bleeding. If that care can be started by YOU while waiting on the pros to come, a person has a much better chance of survival.

People sent $4.8 billion on OnlyFans in 2022

You dogs. The premiere site for adult performers had their best year ever this past year, with billions of dollars pouring in in 2022. The site acts as a marketplace for adult performers, who upload their own material and keep 80% of the revenue. The remaining 20% goes to OnlyFans and covers the cost of running the business, handling credit card processing, and providing a very healthy income for the site’s owner.

As if that stat wasn’t impressive enough, it should be noted that,

  • Over 170 million users have registered an OnlyFans account, including 1.5 million creators.
  • An additional 500,000 new users sign up to the OnlyFans per day.
  • The OnlyFans platform grows at a rate of 70% per month!
  • In total, OnlyFans pays out over $5 billion to its collective of content creators each year.
  • Bella Thorne made over $1million in her first 24 hours of having an account.
  • The average age of paid subscription members is 35-44.
  • The average OnlyFans content creator only has 21 subscribers.

There’s a toy at Walmart that is telling your children inappropriate jokes

A toy phone designed for babies and being sold at Walmart is causing some parents to go to the Internet and complain after they overheard the device joking about topics such as drive-by shootings. The Linsay-branded toy came under fire after this TikTok, which demonstrates some of the material that the toy jokes about.

“Sold at Walmart. Walmart, explain this,” the mom demands. “Linsay Toys, explain this. Blow this up! Do I have a lawsuit? Lawyers, help me out.”

Illinois is the #2 state people moved away from in 2022

Last year, Illinois luckily shed some haters and losers as our state turned out to be the #2 state that people moved away from. Despite whistleblowers that will point to crime statistics, the biggest reasons that people moved out of the state were for job changes, moving to be closer to family, and retirement.

Illinois trails only New Jersey, with New York, Michigan, and Wyoming rounding out the top 5.

These people obviously had to go somewhere, and these 10 states saw the greatest influx in people moving there in 2022,

  1. Vermont
  2. Oregon
  3. Rhode Island
  4. South Carolina
  5. Delaware
  6. North Carolina
  7. Washington, D.C.
  8. South Dakota
  9. New Mexico
  10. Alabama
