Nosmo is best known in Chicago for his EDM program “Electric Playgroundâ€Â on 101WKQX, which features his mixes alongside weekly sets by Green Velvet, Andre Solaris, and a host of other Chicago legends.

He has performed alongside global talent including The Foo Fighters, Mix Master Mike, Front 242, Armand Van Helden, and countless others.

He’s been a guest on John Digweed’s seminal Kiss FM program on BBC Radio 1 and his original productions have been featured on major DJ compilations by Tiesto, Nick Warren, Underworld’s Darren Emerson, and Armin Van Buuren’s top lieutenant Blake Jarrell.

Andre Solaris

Andre Solaris’ adventure with music began in 1986 when he produced his first event, utilizing just a single belt-driven turntable and a pair of cassette decks. The mixing was rudimentary, but the excitement of DJing for an audience inspired a lifelong commitment to electronic dance music. As a devotee of the early mix shows on WBMX and WGCI, with the “Hot Mix 5” crew delivering House music to Chicago’s airwaves, Andre Solaris realized that sharing dance music with others was his passion. While he hadn’t yet attempted to perform on the radio, playing in front of crowds quickly became second nature. For Andre, the late 80s and early 90s were filled with many events, residencies, and clubs appearances where he played everything from House, Industrial, Hi Energy, Hip House, New Beat, and Techno. Mixing the music of seminal electronic artist such as Kraftwerk, Nitzer Ebb, Front 242, Jean-Michel Jarre, Depeche Mode, Leftfield, and The Orb shaped Andre’s unique DJing style.

Andre made his first radio appearance in 1992 on “The Pipeline,” a program on Loyola University’s 88.7 FM. In 2001 he landed a residency on “Energy” 92.7&5 FM, producing a six-hour mix show on Saturday nights called “Clubland Underground.” This show allowed Andre to share his favorite sounds of Prog, Tech, Tribal House, Techno, and Breaks with a massive FM audience. On “Clubland Underground,” he featured a broad assortment of local, national, and international guest jocks, including many whom he counts amongst his influences. When “Energy” closed its doors in 2002, Andre was recruited by WBBM 96.3 FM to provide underground beats to the “Street Mix” program. His weekly segment, “The Sound of the Global Underground,” was hugely popular with B96 audiences whom Andre had introduced his more global dance sound. In the spring of 2003, Andre was invited to join Q101’s underground EDM program “Sonic Boom.” During this weekly residency, Andre also expanded his national influence, producing mixes for XM Satellite Radio. A five-year run of his program “Fuel” on XM’s “The System” and “The Move” channels provided him a great outlet with a huge reach. During that same period, Andre’s mixes were also featured as “Departures” on Sirius Satellite Radio. “Fuel” was later also syndicated on several other FM stations in the US, Europe, and Australia.

In addition to his many radio programs and nightclub performances, Andre established his highly regarded event production company “FUEL Promote” in 1998. With “FUEL Promote,” Andre produced a long list of successful underground dance music events at various Chicago nightclubs and venues. Joined by fellow DJs Nosmo, Rikler, and many others, as well as large group of VJs, sound engineers, and light jockeys “Fuel Promote’s” reputation for impeccable sound quality, impressive lighting, and custom visuals has made the company a jewel amongst Chicago event producers.

Having been a staple in the underground club scene since the 90’s, Andre has had the pleasure of performing alongside top international DJs such as Sasha, Sander Kleinenberg, Steve Lawler, Danny Howells, Parks and Wilson, Meat Katie, Steve Porter, and many more. He continues this musical journey with ongoing on-line and terrestrial radio, event promotions, and music and video production work.

Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to feed my passion for music discovery. From a decade as a founding member of the band Stabbing Westward, to doing A&R for one of the biggest management companies in the music business (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Muse, Silversun Pickups, The Black Keys), to the decade+ of exposing new music on the radio, I love turning people on to new music!

I get to share that passion with you. Queued Up will be all about discovering new music, new and old – but mostly new. New music from across the pond, cool tracks you don't normally hear from your favorite artists, new music first, and old-school indie.

And let's not leave out local bands! This is Chicago and the music scene is thriving. We'll be exposing local artists each week, too.
