Bono Shares Eulogy for David Bowie: ‘Part of Me Is Now a Void’

Bono-David-Bowie

Bono said: “Bowie’s musical landscape affected you in a way that is completely different from all the other music around it. You have to close your eyes, imagine you don’t speak English and just feel the songs and say, “What part of me is being played by those notes?” Or “Who else plays them?”

You only have to listen to the music and lyrics of The 1975’s – Love Me to hear Bowie’s continued influence on modern alternative. I hope that influence continues on and on.

Coachella attendees can test Here Active Listening System

herebuds

The idea is that the earbuds — which are kind of like high-tech hearing aids — can be used to modify the sounds in your physical environment. This can mean raising the bass, adjusting reverb or creating other sonic experiences. Basically allowing you create your own mix of the live music you are seeing.

Coachella attendees will be the first people to have the opportunity to purchase Here and use it at the festival. Attendees will get an email with a purchase offer before Coachella begins and will receive Here in advance to get used to the setup.

David Bowie 1947 – 2016

ziggy

In a post to David Bowie’s official Facebook page and confirmed by his son, Duncan Jones, the legendary musician died Sunday at the age of 69 after an 18-month battle with cancer.

The statement reads, “David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.”

Bowie was the essence of alternative. His influence on modern music is immeasurable. He took chances no one would take. The only hope that could come from the end of his life would be to re-inspire more artists to take chances beyond what might be considered normal.

R.I.P. ZIGGY

Chicago Man Builds Igloo On A Downtown Median

IGLOODOOD

David Sudler, 58, is the guy behind the igloo on Wacker Drive,Sudler, who lives in a nearby high-rise, used ice he cleared from the streets, sidewalks and intersections—where people could slip and fall—to build the igloo. In addition to helping out pedestrians, he said he also wanted to draw attention to the surrounding buildings and businesses that fail to clear the ice for pedestrians.

“I didn’t want people falling. I started chopping the ice up and decided to cut it into squares and rectangles. I’d move it at night when there was less traffic and it was safer,” Sudler said. “I sort of felt like an elf.”
