I Guess They Went That Way

In case you missed it, late last week a group of kids in London, while looking for Easter eggs, decided to tell police where criminals ran by making a human arrow! Not only did they make a great human arrow, but the police helicopter saw it and caught the criminals! Check out the picture below! The real question is though, did the criminals steal the Easter eggs? surrey-police-human-arrow-helicopter-easter-egg-hunt

Divvy Is Releasing 10 Special Blackhawks-Themed Bikes For The Playoffs

BlackhawksBikes_654x372

(from chicagoist.com)

Ten bright red Divvy bicycles decked out with the Blackhawks’ logo are hitting the streets of Chicago this month in honor of the team’s spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Blackhawks have won the Stanley Cup for three of the past six years, and this is the 8th year in a row that they’ve made the playoffs. (READ MORE HERE)

I like the idea of Divvy and this is a cool way for them to support the Blackhawks, but I hope this doesn’t inspire the invention of Bike Hockey. My pants leg getting caught in my bike chain and throwing me to the ground, landing face first on the sidewalk. Dangling over the plank ramp my friends Robbie and Jeremy had crafted out of their dad’s bird house building project, chipping my tooth in front of my crush Janda Vinton when I was in 3rd grade was traumatizing enough. If Bike Hockey became a thing I’d have no choice but to face my bike chain demons and hop on for one last ride. Maybe Janda would show up to see me play?? Wait, have I been typing this whole time? Sorry I’ll show myself out… –  @marconibologna

VIDEO: Pothole Dummy with Lou

potholedummy_654x372_02

Every spring potholes wreak havoc on Chicago roads: blowing tires, wrecking shocks, and busting struts. But this year Advance Auto Parts is turning the tables and conducting the most insane pothole-pounding experiment of all time. What if, instead of trying to avoid potholes, one brave soul attempted to hit every pothole he saw. This week the Pothole Dummy is taking Lou along for the bumpy ride as we film the excitement.

Enjoy the video and stay tuned at the end for your chance to win concert tickets!

How many potholes can one car take? Find out for yourself at potholedummy.com.

END OF WORLD ALERT – Portillo’s condones putting ketchup on hot dogs

unnamed (2)

(from timeout.com)

There is a specific way hot dogs are served in Chicago and it should not be messed with. Yellow mustard, onions, neon green relish, dill pickle, tomato slices, sport peppers and celery salt are all we need. No more, no less. We’re big fans of Portillo’s—it’s a one stop shop for hot dogs, dipped beefs, cheesy crinkle fries and the heavy but amazing chocolate cake shake. We’re even anticipating the opening of the chain’s second Chicago location with the same excitement we usually reserve for the holiday season. But now, Portillo’s has crossed a line—a big, red, ketchup-y line.(READ MORE HERE)

New solo Superman movie in the works?

Screen Shot 2016-04-05 at 6.19.39 PM

No matter what you think of ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, director Zack Synder is going to be at the helm for future DC superhero based films, as he has expressed the desire in a recent IGN interview to make another Superman solo flick. And don’t forget we are getting a big Justice League movie as well!
I think if we could get a good script it would be great to have a standalone Superman movie. I think that would be fun to do. Part of the reason we haven’t announced the standalone Superman movie was to support some of the events of (Batman v Superman). -Zack Synder

At last check, ‘Batman v Superman’ has earned $682 million globally since it’s release. Kevin Tsujihara CEO of Warner Bros has also publicly committed the media company to producing a lot more films based on DC characters in future years to come. So expect to see a lot more nerd battles on your Facebook feed between those loyal to Marvel and those standing behind DC.

While we are on the topic of DC superheroes, Ben Affleck (a.k.a Batman) has already told his own kids which side they have to choose in this blockbuster battle of costumed men.  Watch me goof on this in our weekly Youtube show THE LATEST…

April 5th is a Sad Day for Music

Each year April, 5th marks the anniversaries of the death of two musical icons. Kurt Cobain in 1994 and Layne Staley in 2002. One to suicide the other to an overdose, both tragic and shocking deaths.

Rollingstone takes a look at Kurt’s last day’s HERE.

20 predictions about the Riot Fest 2016 lineup that are probably wrong

sp

(from redeyechicago.com)

With early bird tickets on sale now, it looks like Riot Fest is set to release its 2016 bill (happening Sept. 16-18 at Douglas Park) soon. (Or, whenever the Riot Fest Twitter Guy feels like it). (READ MORE HERE)

A few possibilities not mentioned were Green Day – Could you imagine seeing them whilst standing up to your ankles in muds? Close your eyes as you listen to a Green Day song standing in a bathtub full of mud while wearing shoes you don’t care about if you need help. Yep. THAT WOULD BE AWESOME AM I RIGHT? Last time I saw them they pulled a kid out the crowd and had him play guitar on stage. IDK if the kid was a plant or not but it was pretty cool either way.

Soundgarden!! When Chris Cornell was here I asked him if he would please play Riot Fest with his friends from SG. He didn’t say no!!! So, there’s a chance you guys!! – @marconibologna

Chicago Pizza Summit!!!

Marconi and I went to the Chicago Pizza Summit at Chop Shop yesterday, it was incredible!! All pizza everything 😀

awkps2016

The pizza and party king himself, Andrew WK was there with some inspiring and deep words about the best food on the planet.  And partying.

LOawk2016

Some of my favorites included the house-made giardiniera and PBR meatball pizza from Boiler Room, the vegan philly cheese pizza from Santullo’s, and the explosion of flavor that was the Hoisin BBQ, ginger beer braised pork belly, red bell pepper, fried cheese curds, cilantro & sriracha slice from Pie Eyed Pizzeria.

My favorite item from the US Pizza museum, the pizza scarf! Made by Jessica Marie Sisto, I am going to need one of these.

And Adam from Old Style had a pizza pouch!

pp2016

You know, after completely overdosing on pizza I thought I would be all set on it for a long time… but I could really go for a slice right now…

Marconi made a video about our big day:
