Sorry if I’m just late to the party and missed this, but Jack White and Ian Kinsler of the Detroit Tigers hooked with Warstic to create some pretty impressive equipment. Some of these base ball bats look more like works of art. Plus a portion of each bat sold goes to help wounded and injured veterans.
Josh Carter and Sarah Barthel of Phantogram are officially on Snapchat and it’s awesome!! With the success of Deadpool as an R-rated superhero movie for 21st Century Fox and Marvel, the last Wolverine movie with Hugh Jackman in the role will be Rated R. Producer Simon Kinberg (Deadpool, X-Men: Days of Future Past) confirmed it recently in the press recently, saying the film would be “violent, kind of like a western in it’s tone.” As more and more comic book based movies hit theaters, the adult lean of this genre gets bigger naturally, so it will be intriguing to see what Weapon X does when his claws come out with less creative restrictions.
Jackman confirmed last year that the next Wolverine film will be his last as the character that he has portrayed 8 times since 2000’s ‘X-Men”. It’s been reported by multiple sources including CinemaBlend, that the film will play off the comic ‘Old Man Logan’ with the conflicted hero renouncing violence while traveling through America, only find himself tangling with Marvel villains.
The ladies of Litchfield are back with the new trailer for ‘Orange is the New Black’ Season 4 dropping on Netflix on June 17th. Piper appears to once again be in danger and some other women in the drama-filled prison are climbing up the ladder of inmate life. There is also a lot of beloved characters who appear to be in pain here or under real pressure in this teaser, it also helps that Kaleo’s “Way Down We Go” is the soundtrack.
There is more good news about powerful ladies kicking butt on a screen near you. Black Widow of the Avenger’s movies is getting her own solo movie, read about that here.

It’s time to start making some tough decisions—the Lollapalooza 2016 schedule has been released, allowing attendees to plan out their days (and long walks) at Chicago’s biggest music festival.
The main stage headliners each night are mostly who we expected: Lana Del Rey and J. Cole on Thursday, Major Lazer and Radiohead on Friday, Disclosure and Red Hot Chili Peppers on Saturday, Ellie Goulding and LCD Soundsystem on Sunday. We were pleasantly surprised to see Swedish metal supergroup Ghost headlining the Pepsi Stage on Friday, Chicago-native emcee Vic Mensa closing out the Pepsi Stage on Saturday and the supremely strange South African dup Die Antwoord performing the final set at Perry’s Stage on Sunday. (READ MORE HERE)
I like the ability to plan out my festivals I do however wish there was a Lolla app with alerts that would let me set up all the bands I want to see and send me a notification when they are about to take the stage with a 15 minute warning. With as many amazing artists performing this year it will be impossible but I made my list early on. (SEE MY LOLLA LIST HERE)I do see however you can work out your own schedule with the MY FEST feature on the LOLLA website. – @marconibologna
As if four Chicago locations wasn’t enough already (it isn’t), Stan’s Donuts is opening two more storefronts in prime locations around the city.

YESSSS!! I love anytime a great restaurant or bakery can cut through and make it here in Chicago. We all know the rents here aren’t cheap so you have to be really great to even stay in business with one store. GO STAN’S GO!! – @marconibologna

So with less than 72 hours under it’s belt ‘Captain America: Civil War’ is dominating the box office with $75 million on Friday alone. It’s another triumph for Marvel Studios and let’s the Marvel Cinematic Universe grow stronger with many films planned in the next few years all with interwoven stories. Yet one of character who has shined for Marvel in the Avengers series and other related stories, the Black Widow has never gotten the solo treatment like her Avenger team mates Thor, Iron Man, and the Hulk. The trained assassin and SHEILD butt-kicker played by Scarlett Johansen in these films has the legs to carry her own movie, and it appears Marvel is going in that direction based of recent news.
“We’ve announced the next nine movies, 10 counting Civil War, through the end of 2019. Where we go beyond that are ongoing discussions that we’ll focus on in the next few years because we have a lot to do before then. Of the characters that you’ve just mentioned I would say certainly the one creatively and emotionally that we are most committing to doing is Black Widow.” said Marvel Studio head Kevin Feige in an interview with Deadline this week.
It’s a Morther’s Day gift from one of the biggest bands in alternative music: Radiohead is finally releasing their new album in a surprise digital drop today at 2pm EST. The UK icons have been stirring the pot lately with vague flyers mailed out to fans, mailing 35mm film of videos to movie theaters, and taking down all of their social media presence to simply put it back up again. Oh and if that was not enough they dropped not 1 but two different creepy fun music videos this week with “Burn the Witch” and “Daydreaming”.The two new tracks have drawn nearly 13 million views on YouTube, so RH fans must have a fever waiting for this new music. No, the cure for that fever is not more cowbell.
This uncontrollable anxious feeling has overtaken many fans online like the unfortunate souls who made online bets that this anticipated album would come out on Friday, it did not so they had to eat a printed photo of Thom Yorke. Yeah, another reminder the internet is weird.
“Burn the Witch” was released online this week with this animated video which appears to be a fun animated tale with Playmobil like figures, but it can’t stay happy long and veers off into Tim Burton demented fairy tale direction.
The “Daydreaming” video which dropped on Friday, was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson the same man who behind movie classics ‘Boogie Nights’ and ‘Magnolia’. It sees Thom lost and walking from a fairly civilized world to a rural setting still looking for something or someone. Also check out the weird voice near the end of the track around the 6 minute mark, if your not scared by that you are braver than me. I should hold your hand when we go through a haunted house.
They have been toiling away on and off on this album for a few years now, so the anticipation is quite large for this release among their loyal worldwide following. And from what’s been uploaded already, we can gather that Thom Yorke and company will take their sound to new cinematic and emotional heights.
UPDATE: A Moon Shaped Pool is the title of the new RH album which will be available through digital music outlets this afternoon.
Tracklist:
01. Burn The Witch
02. Daydreaming
03. Decks Dark
04. Desert Island Disk
05. Ful Stop
06. Glass Eyes
07. Identikit
08. The Numbers
09. Present Tense
10. Tinker Tailor Soldier Sailor Rich Man Poor Man Beggar Man Thief

New costumes for the upcoming Power Rangers movie in 2017
The Power Rangers are getting a big screen reboot with a 2017 movie, and today costumes for the monster-fighting teens was revealed by Entertainment Weekly along with an outfit for the villainous Rita Repulsa being played by ’30 Rock’ star Elizabeth Banks. They immediately remind me of Iron Man’s glowing arch reactor chest on metallic bodies out of an 80’s anime. The Rangers certainly look tougher here than did with the spandex they wore in their 90’s televised heyday.
If these teenagers riding around in giant robots don’t fill your superhero fix, read my review of Captain America: Civil War.
The Wrecks and Holy White Hounds set up for a brilliant Queued Up Artist Showcase at Thalia Hall last night! Nothing But Thieves were nothing short of incredible live. Conor Mason’s voice is other wordly.
