The ultimate battle between…well, Disney properties, I guess. Check out this fan-made video pitting the two figures you never knew had to face each other…Darth Vader and Buzz Lightyear:
You might be familiar with the work of Nukazooka, a collaborative of ridiculous creative people. Two guys, who are proving that you don’t need big dollars to make big budget effects. They are also responsible for this video has been popping up in my Facebook feed on heavy rotation:
Whoa. Mario went to a deep, dark place. — [eric]
If you have wondered who would win in a battle, Darth Vader or Buzz Lightyear, well we finally know! Check the video below to see if you were right!

The mission statement for Chicago’s, uh, cheekiest anti-Trump protest is pretty straightforward: “Kiss Our A**es, Release Your Taxes!” The minds behind a new comedy enterprise are urging Chicagoans to join them on Sunday, Feb. 12 for a good old-fashioned mass mooning of Trump Tower, with the hopes of keeping light (and skin) shining on Trump’s refusal to release his tax returns. As of Friday afternoon, more than 300 people had RSVP’ed to attend and another 1400-plus were interested in Chicago Moons the Trump Tower. The butts-out action was put together, appropriately enough, by Sh**show, a new Chicago-based satirical news show cut from the mold of The Daily Show and the old Colbert Report. (MORE HERE)
I hope this isn’t some weird new form of hot yoga.
That rumble you just felt from your phone or computer is the Earth receiving a new music video from Twenty-One Pilots music video for the track ‘Heavydirtysoul’. The visiuals here are pretty intense and scary matching up with the frenetic pace of the song itself. Why is Josh playing a drumset in the middle of a road? Why is the drum kit on fire? Why is Tyler in a car with a blown out tire rolling down the road?! WHY IS NO ONE DRIVING THIS CAR? HOW IS IT MOVING?! AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Here is more TOP video fun here as we show the journey of humble video game player from Hammond, Indiana who raced his way through Mario Kart to go on stage at the United Center on January 28th to go one-one-one with Tyler in a race to crown an Emotional Roadshow Champion!
Ahh there we go they are back at it! Kings of Leon who had to postpone their January 23rd United Center show, were back at it playing on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’ this week on NBC. The Kings rescheduled the show for March 8th and don’t worry if you got tickets for their postponed show they will be honored on the new date. If you didn’t get enough of Caleb and company, here is a recent performance on the ‘Tonight Show’.
Also has anyone noticed how really funny ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’ has gotten recently? Especially since this past year’s Election season, this show has really become a must-watch show for me on a weekly basis.
CBS2 threw us on to talk about the “Say Yes” phone scam. Thanks to Dave Sivini for coming by!

We all have a long list of the annoying things we hate, and now — finally! — we can use this information to find true love. Hater is a brand new dating app that matches you with others who can’t stand the very same things you can’t stand. It’s a delightful concept that let’s you drop that idealized, perky version of yourself you’ve been putting in all your profiles and let’s you show off your inner crank instead. The app launches officially on February 8th but is now available in beta for iOS. (It will be available for Android this spring.) It offers you 3,000 hand-selected topics to weigh in on — butt selfies, build the wall, slow walkers and tipping less than 15% are just a few. You simply swipe down to hate, up to love, left to dislike or right to like. (MORE HERE)

You may have grown accustomed to Hot Doug’s Atomic Sausage pizza being on the menu permanently at Wicker Park’s Piece Brewery & Pizzeria, but during the entire month of February, there’s a new Doug Sohn-approved pizza in town. This time, it’s Hot Doug’s Jerk Sausage Pizza, a white pizza topped with jerk sausage, roasted garlic cloves, thick cut bacon and roasted Anaheim peppers. (MORE HERE)

If you haven’t been able to tell, I’m a big sports fan. I sprinkle stuff in when I’m on the air all the time. Yet I realize for many of you, sports rank a bit lower. What we have in common…is alternative. And that’s cool.
Sunday looms large, however. The Super Bowl remains the most viewed event each year, hands down. Last year it was even the third most viewed TV event….EVER. Which means many a non-pigskin person will be gathering to watch. And there you are, needing to rub elbows with people who…just know football. And no one wants to feel completely left out, right?
I ran across this primer from Lifehacker today and thought…this is perfect for those in 101WKQXland who want to at least have some sort of connection and know very little about the context of the game. So, here you go.
I’d also like to add two things:
This is a court sketch artist’s rendering of New England Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady from a few years back. Tom — well, hilariously doesn’t look anything like Tom here. He was appearing in U.S. District Court in his first appearance in his lawsuit regarding Deflategate. Find any Patriots fan. Yell the word Deflategate. And then run as fast as you can.
The NFL RedZone channel saved football fans about 35 hours of commercial watching this past season. RedZone shows every scoring play in every game. While they are waiting for scores to happen, they just show the team closest to pulling it off. You can impress your football friends by telling them that RedZone is the only way you fly.
So, there you go. And enjoy the universal truths of the big game: big food and big drink. — [eric]
‘Love Is Mystical’ is the new single from Cold War Kids’ forthcoming 6th studio album ‘L.A. Divine’ due out April 9th!
On repeat today.

The city is hoping a proposed $500 million renovation of the Sears Tower will make the iconic, yet formidable looking building feel more open and accessible to the public. Plans for Chicago’s tallest building include six levels of new retail and entertainment space, enhancements to the famous Skydeck observation area and a 30,000-square-foot outdoor deck and winter garden. On Tuesday, Mayor Rahm Emanuel disclosed some specific details of proposed upgrades to the building, which is owned by private equity and real estate investment firm Blackstone. “[Blackstone] is investing half a billion dollars in an iconic building,” Emanuel told the Sun-Times. “It’s an investment in the South Loop… [Sears Tower] will be more receptive to foot traffic for people coming, staying longer and also not going outside the South Loop for lunch. It’s gonna be a tremendous draw.” (MORE HERE)
Can I suggest a FAST PASS for locals trying to take their cousins to the Sears Tower real quick before they have to be on a plane back to Boise. Also how about a roller coaster!?!

“We’re focusing more on shorter form content to start” Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said on today’s Q4 earnings call where he was repeatedly questioned about Facebook’s video strategy. One thing’s clear, Facebook will invest heavily. “I see video as a mega trend” said Zuckerberg. Facebook will both pay video makers up front and through ad revenue sharing to get their content into its News Feed and video tab. Despite reports that it’s been in talks with TV studios and is building a set-top TV box, on today’s earnings call, Facebook isn’t going to immediately dive into funding a ton of TV shows and movies. Zuckerberg noted “Over the longer term…people will experiment with longer form of video as well in all kinds of different things.” But quick, snackable clips are “the primary focus for the foreseeable future.” Essentially, Facebook is more interested in the YouTube model of collecting tons of quick video clips than investing in long-form shows or films like Netflix. (MORE HERE)
It’s about time!! As a daily YouTuber I have waited for awhile for this program. I’m worried that any revenue generated from content at first will have to be used to pay for videos to show up in the News Feed as that seems to be the way the Facebook algorithms work now. Though I never seem to miss my mother’s political posts 9 times daily.
A new video unearthed from the sessions of the HBO music series starring the Foo Fighters “Sonic Highways” shows Dave Grohl listening to one of the very early recordings years before he gained worldwide success. The song goes back in the late 80’s, pre-dating his time in Nirvana. It’s refreshing to see someone making fun of themselves and remarking at how they’ve progressed as a person, let a lone a seismic-shifting musical figure like Grohl. He even joking quips here that his vocals on the song entitled “Gods Don’t Look Down” that he sounds “like a girl” and how he was sure if he had physically hit puberty when it was recorded.
Foo Fighters are set to headline the Bottlerock Festival this spring with several other festival dates already announced in Europe as well. Grohl and company will also be working on a new music in 2017.
The vidoe is from the Laundry Room Studio youtube channel. This acclaimed music studio in Washington state is quite familiar to Grohl and other established Seattle-area musicians, The Foos released an EP of covers and alternate version of established tracks recorded at this special studio in 2015 for Record Store Day, You can listen to it here.

Ben Affleck says he is stepping down as director for the upcoming Batman movie. He’s still producing it and he’s still wearing the costume. Just doesn’t feel he can handle playing a character lkie that and directing the whole thing at the same time. The Hollywood Reporter has more HERE. Before all that, though, he’ll be back in the cape for the Justice League movie coming in November.
