‘Invader Zim’ will return and try to conqueror the world in a TV movie for Nickolodeon. Zim and his robot sidekick Gir who failed continuously in their nefarious plots to takeover the world with hilarious dark results in the cult cartoon series which debuted in 2001. The return movie will feature the main voice cast, and is not the first Nicktoon from the past to get a special reboot as ‘Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie’ will be released later this year and a ‘Rocko’s Modern Life’ special currently in production. So if you watch Nick back in day before ‘SpongeBob’ had his Sqaurepants, you must be freaking out over this. The Invader Zim return movie will air in 2018. This is certainly a choice revamp of nostalgia and plays off all those Hot Topic t-shirts we saw floating around in the mid-2000’s. The series stayed out there by being re-aired on Nickolodeon’s Nicktoons Network along with being released DVD. ‘Zim’ is also available on several video services including Hulu.

We all know ballpark food is the best food, which is why we’re not surprised by all of the tantalizing new dishes coming to the Friendly Confines this year. The Chicago Cubs will unveil a new home-game menu during the April 10 home opener. And if brown sugar-coated bacon bites or a chicken sandwich on toasted Hawaiian bread get your mouth watering, you’re going to love all the other options at Wrigley Field this season. Don’t believe us? Take a look for yourself! (MORE HERE)
While we’re on the subject. We all know ball park food, beverages and parking are expensive. It’s a frustrating fact of life. Sometimes complaining about it non stop eliminates the enjoyment. Not everything is cheap, convenient and easy. Going to a Cubs game is an experience. Nobody will ever force you to go against your will. (I hope) If you do go. Enjoy yourself. We all die someday anyway.

To celebrate its 54th anniversary, the popular restaurant chain will be offering patrons 54-cent slices of its double-layer chocolate cake (regularly $3.09 a slice) on April 6.And let’s be clear: Portillo’s cake isn’t some generic, run-of-the-mill confection. It’s the kind of chocolate decadence you hope Miss Trunchbull forces you to eat (“Matilda” throwback). (MORE HERE)

Blink-182 will be at Lollapalooza. Founding member Tom DeLonge…will not. He’s off studying aliens, in case you hadn’t heard.
Not exactly the biggest breaking news story, as any rudimentary search of the Internet would have informed you. Friday’s Washington Post article on DeLonge, however, brought his new passion to a mainstream audience.
Among the highlights:
Tom has been studying this for 20 years and just released a book last month on the topic. He’s very, very serious on the topic. I guess the question is…how seriously will the world take HIM? — [eric]
It’s April Fool’s Day, so maybe you’ve grown tired of scrolling past your friend’s fake pregnancy announcements and need to see a really good prank to fool us all. Riot Fest wins the day with this fake lineup announcement for this September’s show. The lineup poster shows off a hilarious list of fictional bands and musical artists who have been featured in TV shows and movies. Yeah, sorry Rex Manning from ‘Empire Records’ and Zac Attack from ‘Saved by the Bell’ will not be playing at Douglas Park this fall.
Bleachers are starting their new album cycle this week with the release yesterday of a new song called ‘Don’t Take the Money’ . The track which has a cool dance vibe that reminds me of something on ‘the Breakfast Club’ soundtrack, was written by band leader Jack Antonoff’s relationship with Lena Dunham, the star of the HBO series ‘Girls’. In this IG post, Antonoff lays it all out and how the song is encapsulates a lot of different emotions in a multi-dimensional relationship.
Antonoff got a little help on the song from another alt favorite whose busy in her own right, Lorde. The New Zealand singer helped Antonoff write the song, after he helped produce music for her tracks like the recently released ‘Green Light’ . Check out Lorde and Antonoff performing together last month on NBC’s ‘Saturday Night Live’.
Catch BLEACHERS at #PIQNIQ 2017 on May 20th at Hollywood Casino Amphitheater. Get your tickets here.

Here is a little pick me up on your Saturday morning! Who doesn’t like to start their day headbanging!
Once upon a time…. well, back in the 80’s, there was a record store with an indie label attached. Wax Trax! Records!! It started with a few 12″ singles and ended up one of the most influential record labels for Industrial music. The label was home to Ministry, Front 242, KMFDM among so many others. 2445 N. Lincoln Ave became the center of the industrial universe. This weekend, a documentary about the label called Industrial Accident: The Untold Story Of Wax Trax! Records will premiere at The Vic Theatre with 2 showings tomorrow at 2:30 and 8:30. Each will be followed by a panel of artists and people associated with the label. There are no plans to distribute the film yet so I’d take advantage of this screening. Click here for tickets. -wALT
