A year ago on August 20 and 21, Pearl Jam played 2 epic shows at Wrigley Field and now, they have become a new concert film called Let’s Play Two. The film will premiere for Ten Club members with 2 showings at the Metro on Sept 27 & 28 before opening in select theaters on Sept 29th. And yup, there will be a soundtrack available. Get more details HERE. -wALT
Acclaimed film director Steven Soderbergh teased a year ago that he would create an HBO show that would allow viewers to have a ‘choose your own adventure’ engagement with viewers allowing them to affect the outcome. Until recently there was no other juicy details on the project beyond actors Sharon Stone and Garrett Hedlund being attached to it and it would be titled ‘Mosaic’, but this week Soderbergh revealed more.
Viewers will be able to interact with the story of Mosaic through an app on their phones or tablets, but it will not directly changed the story as the show will remain in a “fixed universe” according to Soderbergh’s interview with Film Comment. The app connected to the show is expected to allow viewers to rearrange the story to their own liking, giving them a modified experience. That’s too far off ‘choosing your own adventure’.
Soderburgh states the show has a “linear episodic version” due there being simply too much content for an app, before he even pitched it to HBO. The app version will be released in November. It’s not clear. As for the story, Soderburgh gives us a taste of how it will involved a murder and history related to it.
“It’s a murder. Not a murder mystery so much. There are two different time frames, one contemporary and one four years ago. This case that everyone thought was solved gets reexamined with interesting results. So you get to go back and forth depending on who you want to follow at what point. It seemed to be a kind of story that benefited from this multiverse perspective. The writing and the editing of it was tricky. The giant board that [writer Ed Solomon] and I had was a real head-scratcher.”
This sounds very interesting way to take television which is already really good right now, into an exciting new direction. Also it will give you more reasons to keep your HBO subscription once ‘Game of Thrones’ is done.
So unless you live underneath a rock, you likely heard or checked out today’s eclipse of the sun with special eye glasses with everyone else in America. Local weatherman and television treasure Tom Skilling of WGN News was beyond excited, he was emotional during today’s midday event in the sky as seen by these videos and the online response. This lovable man cried tears of joy at the site of the sun being blocked by the moon.
During his several breaks from a Carbondale beach covering the eclipse, he referenced it as a “life-changing event” and claimed he would get his “act together” but I don’t think anyone mined it at all. Skilling has proven over his decades on the air, to be genuine example of people’s passion to know what’s going in their environment around them.

The only thing better than watching the eclipse is Tom Skilling watching the eclipse. #SolarEclipse2017 @Skilling pic.twitter.com/o0t7u5Nyk1

Crap. Tom Skilling crying got me choked up. Old men excited about science warm my heart. #SolarEclipse2017

Being from Chicago, I've obviously been watching Tom Skilling since I was 2 and watching him during the eclipse just made me tear up. 😶

From Chicago, we can expect the first total solar eclipse in 38 years to begin at 11:54a, with 87% totality around 1:19p.
DO NOT LOOK AT THE SUN WITH YOUR NAKED EYE. If you waited this long to get eclipse glasses, you may be out of luck.
Unless you are this resourceful guy:
(kidding, of course)
If you’re shooting with a smartphone, you don’t technically need any extra equipment, and you can do some pretty cool things with that wider shot, such as a time-lapse. But if you’re serious about photography and plan to shoot close-ups of the sun, you’ll need a solar filter for your camera to avoid damaging its lens. You will also want to pick up a tripod since it’s going to get very dark, very quickly during totality. And don’t forget your zoom lens to get a closeup of the eclipsed sun. If you’re shooting a wide shot of the scene with your smartphone or GoPro, you don’t need a solar filter. Regardless of whether you’re shooting with a smartphone or professional camera, don’t forget to capture the spectacle around you as tens to hundreds of thousands of eclipse glasses-wearing watchers look up to the sky all at once.
But the best news is no matter where you are located or what the cloud conditions are or what our eclipse glasses situation is, we can watch the total solar eclipse safely via live stream…
NASA TV, the Science Channel and the Weather Channel all will show the eclipse from various points across the country. NASA is offering a unique perspective by sending 57 high altitude balloons into the air and live streaming the vantage point to eclipse.stream.live.
Adler Planetarium is throwing a huge party today, I mean this is pretty much their superbowl, info HERE

Join me for a spacial edition of The Lockout today to celebrate the total solar eclipse starting at 11:50a

What Ya Missed, Lou’s over the Eclipse, Sex Injuries and Is It Florida
Being Rick-Rolled by the FOO FIGHTERS is cool. Being Rick-Rolled by the Foo Fighters AND RICK ASTLEY? Priceless!
The Foo Fighters were playing the Summer Sonic Festival in Japan, and Rick just happened to be on the bill as well . . . so they decided to make some MAGIC together.
They brought Rick onstage, and proceeded to rip into “Never Gonna Give You Up” . . . but they played the chords in the style of “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. It was fantastic.
Here’s some of the stuff you may have missed from the past week:
The Killers cut a special video promo for the upcoming Mayweather/McGregor fight, and that makes sense for a couple of reasons: first, “The Man” fits perfectly under the machismo spirit of boxing. And secondly, the August 26th fight takes place in the band’s hometown of Las Vegas. Check it out.

Queens Of The Stone Age are, of course, releasing their new album “Villains” on August 25th, which includes a vinyl version. Just one problem with that: some songs mistakenly were released on another band’s pressing. Australian artist Gordi might find a few more sales this week due to three songs from QOTSA leaking out via her record, which now makes those versions — collector items.
Russell gave you a taste of the Foo Fighters rocking out at the Acropolis in July. It’s part of a special PBS series called Landmark Live In Concert, hosted by Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith. Make a note in the calendar: Dave Grohl and company’s performance will air November 10th.
Jon Fassold rose to YouTube fame with his video on how every Chainsmokers song is written. He’s taken on other artists before, and now he takes on Panic! At The Disco. This, Jon admits, is a little strange for him because he genuinely thinks Brendon Urie is a talented musician. However, he’s uncovered a pattern of song writing which….if you don’t at least crack a smile, you might be taking life a bit too seriously:

Only a couple of episodes remain in Game Of Thrones. Therefore, tonight’s episode should be action packed. And it is always fun to see how fans can re imagine their favorite shows through homemade trailers. This one from Nick Growall is made in the style of Justice League, Avengers, and/or Suicide Squad. If it doesn’t get you hyped for tonight, it at the very least is a good primer for all that has happened leading up to now. Enjoy. — [eric]
Well it look like Amy Schumer is a big fan of Judge Judy. She’s actually such a big fan she decide to be an extra on the show for a day this past week! Check out those facial expressions that she gives!

In the Season 4 trailer for the cringeworthy comedy show ‘Nathan For You’ sees comedian Nathan Fielder create socially uncomfortable chaos in Ubers with a prank involving taxi drivers. If you have not seen this show that sees Fielder also trying to sell chili to sports fans in an arena from inside his jacket, take a minute to check it out and pass up on past episodes. It’s one of the most underrated comedies on TV right now.
In season four, Nathan helps a computer repair shop earn its customers’ trust by hiring a fully asexual staff; devises a plan to sell hot chili at a hockey arena by hiding it under his clothing; and attempts to get around international tariff laws by rebranding smoke alarms as musical instruments. With his unorthodox approach to problem solving, Nathan’s genuine efforts to do good often draw the real people he encounters into an experience far beyond what they signed up for.
Fielder is not a guy to mess with. He launched his own line of windbreaker jackets, and he did out of spite. He explained more during in 2015 itnerview with CONAN.

With WWE’s Summerslam taking over Brooklyn this Sunday, it may not have been the best time for ‘Tonight Show’ host Jimmy Fallon to crack wise about ‘the Game’ Triple H. During his always funny ‘Thank You Notes’ segment the former SNL star made a joke about the former WWE Champion “for sounding less like a WWE superstar and more like an extra strength hemorrhoid cream.” This prompted the King of Kings to appear and body-slam ‘Fallon’ through his desk to the roar for the studio audience!

Seth Rogen celebrated the 10th anniversary of his teenagers-turned-bad ass movie ‘Superbad’ on Twitter today. He shared some trivia and reveals how old McLovin is now. Speaking of age, this makes me feel OLD. Beware there are some NSFW words.
Superbad turns 10 today, which makes Mclovin 35 I think.

Some Superbad trivia for its ten year anniversary. I don't assume anyone cares that much but why not:

Danny Mcbride is an extra in the background of the first party scene in Superbad.

The period blood on the leg scene in Superbad actually happened to my friend at a high school dance and we discovered it after the dance.

Just like in Superbad, Mike Snider actually was the first guy to get a fake ID and it was awesome.

My good friend @mrDaveKrumholtz came up with the title Superbad while we were smoking weed at the oakwood

Anyway, if you dig Superbad, thanks for digging it. I wrote it with my best friend in high school and we still write together. It's lovely.

Chuck E. Cheese, the place that kids want their parents to go so they can spend money on games to win things that are worth a dime while those parents drink beer and eat ‘pizza’, yes that place is breaking up their robot bands. The company will phase out the cartoony animatronic robot bands that have long been staple of the family restaurant chain which has sold itself as a place where “a kid can be a kid”. Yes, these robot animals now come off as creepy and many are breaking down as you can see in these videos.
“It’s the biggest thing we’ve done for the look and feel of Chuck E. Cheese for two decades,” the company’s CEO told the press this week. “The kids stopped looking at the animatronics years and years ago, and they would wait for the live Chuck E. to come out.” No matter how much Chuck E. Cheese and their customers have turned against these dead-eyed monsters, they still have some very faithful fans who have spent a lot of time and money to collect anything from the band as seen in this documentary ‘The Rock-afire Explosion’.
CBS is reporting that Millenials are to blame for the death of Chuck E. and his band.
.the restaurant chain is looking to reengage families and kids with a “modern experience,” said CEC Chief Executive Tom Leverton. The redesigned locations also feature a dance floor where a live Chuck E. comes out to shake a leg with children. The animatronic bands were shown the door with the new design.
“It’s the biggest thing we’ve done for the look and feel of Chuck E. Cheese for two decades,” Leverton said. “The kids stopped looking at the animatronics years and years ago, and they would wait for the live Chuck E. to come out.”
I mean this really swore off the whole robot band craze for me….
