Green Day will play one of the final Wrigley Field concerts this summer. In addition to taking over the Friendly Confines for an evening, they’re opening a pop-up store in Metro on Wednesday, August 23 and Thursday, August 24 from noon to 6pm each day. Stranger Things News

Welp, there is good and bad Stranger Things news.

First, the good: even before season 2 airs, co-creators Ross and Matt Duffer have already confirmed a third season!  More HERE

Now the bad… they are already planning the end of the beloved show.  “We’re thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out,” says Ross. By then, the original band of adorable preteens will be ready for college. “We just have to keep adjusting the story,” says Matt. “Though I don’t know if we can justify something bad happening to them once a year.”  More from vulture.com HERE.

But you never know what can happen in the upside down…

Stranger Things second season premieres October 27th, where are we watching it together?

Guitarist/singer Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tre Cool have been hustling to get they are today at the ‘stadium level’ shared by top tier bands like Foo Fighters and Coldplay, with enduring focus to political activism, emotional truth, and constant dedication delivering on being so much more ‘just another punk band’.

So let the delightful debate begin about what songs are the best from this West Coast trio, here is a Top 20 according to me and suggestions of trusted music fanatics of GD. So if you don’t like it or you love it, let ME know on social media. Yeah, if you are upset in any remote way, it’s my fault.

What’s the best Sci-Fi movie made since 2000?

Rolling Stone posted a list of top movies, which tend to always be delightfully debated but this one will get some flack and love at the same time. The reputable magazine/blog listed the ‘Top 20 Sci-Fi Films of the 21st Century’, with the cut-off being 2000. This eliminates locks for top spots like ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Blade Runner’ but also gives greater focus to cult classics and recent beloved blockbuster without having to play for a spot in the shadow of Darth Vader. Read the full list here.

There list includes obvious winners like ‘Inception’ and ‘Gaurdians of the Galaxy’ but also includes sleeper creepers like ‘Attack the Block’ and ‘Cloverfield’, which both deserve a spot. The RS list penned by multiple writers, also does not include Marvel or DC films which does give it a less broad scope, so how did a Pixar animated movie make the list? All of this can quickly become science ficiton semantics, but the list is well written. The lazer beam focus is appreciated but does this list beam up to your spaceship or does it get thrown into a black hole?

If you want it spoiled, the whole list in order is below.

  1. Children of Men (2006)
  2. Inception (2010)
  3. Under the Skin (2013)
  4. Wall-E (2008)
  5. Gravity (2013)
  6. District 9 (2009)
  7. Serenity (2005)
  8. Looper (2012)
  9. Her (2013)
  10. The Host (2006)
  11. The World’s End (2013)
  12. Moon (2009)
  13. Minority Report (2002)
  14. Primer (2004)
  15. Cloverfield (2008)
  16. Attack the Block (2011)
  17. Reign of Fire (2002)
  18. Monsters (2010)

Man loses $4 Million dollar lottery ticket for four months

A Virginia man did the same thing with a winning lottery ticket that I do my apartment key, he lost it. Eric Lopez of Manasses told the Virginia Lottery he bought a $4,000,000 Spectacular Riches ticket in April, but when he went to scratch the ticket he discovered that he couldn’t remember where he had left it. Lopez said the ticket remained missing earlier this month, when he found it hiding among a stack of papers in his car while on his lunch break. During the same lunch break, Lopez scratched off the ticket and discovered he had just become a millionaire.

“I was kind of ecstatic. I haven’t even been sleeping because I’ve never seen anything like this in my life,” he said in article with UPI.

Lopez opted for the lump sum of his lotto winnings going with $2,571,357, saying he will use it to pay off debt, send his children to college, and possibly start a business.

Greed Day Drummer Tre Cool’s Letterman Stunts Remembered

One of my favorite things about Green Day’s many appearances on David Letterman’s CBS Late Show was drummer Tre Cool’s stunts. At the end of the song Mr. Cool liked to do something odd like jump into a fake swimming pool on a special L.A. show or dive from the guitar amps to Letterman’s couch. This became a regular thing, each time Tre did something weirder and Dave seemed to love it and Green Day was on the show a lot over the years so audiences did too. Check out this highlight reel of Tre Cool being awesome on Letterman.

Jerry Seinfeld takes you inside his joke notebook in Netflix teaser

Jerry Seinfeld has long proven himself to be one of the funniest comedians of all time. He came into prominence with NBC sitcom ‘Seinfeld’ after years of working his way up from his first love, live stand up comedy. On September 19th, Seinfeld returns once again to stand up with a new Netflix special that brings the comedian back to his New York club roots. ‘Jerry before Seinfeld’ filmed at the Comic Strip, the venue that helped launch his career. The set will be sprinkled with never-before-seen material, including an deep library of legal pads containing every joke Seinfeld has written since 1975 plus childhood videos. As part of his set, Seinfeld will perform the jokes that helped ignite his career.

Here are some teasers posted by @NetflixComedy that have a lyric video feel scrolling through his scribbled down genius as he performs it in front of a hungry audience.
