Could he be the prom king of Riot Fest? What does it mean to enter a new party universe? These questions are all pitched to the party king himself, Andrew W.K. who bought the revelry to Day 3 of Riot Fest this past Sunday in Douglas Park. Kevin shared the PMA Party energy backstage prior to his radical set on the Heather Owens Stage.
The biggest nugget we grabbed in our chat above with AWK is that he is finally releasing a new album, his first since 55 Cadillac and the Japan-exclusive Gundam Rockin in 2009. The yet-to-be-titled album will be out next year on March 2nd.
Meanwhile Andrew WK and his full slamming band will hit the road with a Chicago party at the Vic on October 21st.

Wrestling fans and stars received sad news on Sunday with the news that WWE Hall of Famer Bobby ‘the Brain’ Heenan has passed away at the age of 73. He had long battle with cancer in the early 2000’s, damaging his ability to speak, and he continued to battle numerous health issues.
Starting out of Chicago, Heenan worked his way up the pro wrestling ladder from selling drinks at wrestling shows to eventually getting in the ring himself. He would compete in the American Wrestling Association in the Midwest, evolving into a wise-talking manager who would go on to support some of the biggest villains in the WWE. From Andre the Giant to ‘the Nature Boy’ Ric Flair, the Brain was always talking a behind a superstar and talking fans into the building to see a big main event.
Heenan was one of the most valuable figures in WWE’s national expansion and popularity in the 80’s and 90’s. His silver tongue antagonism and ability to get ire of any audience made him ‘the Weasel’ you wanted to see get whomped on. The spectacle that was Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant for the WWE World Championship at Wrestlemania III in front of 93,000 was amplified by Heenan’s masterful personality.
The Brain’s talents were so captivating that he also served as a color commentator with fellow Hall of Famer Gorilla Monsoon on WWE Televison shows and pay-per-view events. The pair made a comedic tag team who zingers that made every show feel special and fun. Heenan will be regarded as the undisputed greatest manager in WWE history. You can debate about who’s the best wrestler, there is no debate that Heenan was THE manager.
