The Killers are truly an international sensation something that evident here locally when the Nevada based band headlined Lollapalooza. Every person I met at the fest that was from another country for Lolla, almost everyone of them mentioned they were there for Brandon Flowers and company. That global appeal continued in this viral hit from Austraila, where the band is set to provide the pre-show for the Australia Football League Grand Final this Saturday. It’s the Ausssie’s equivalent to the Super Bowl that is the championship game for Aussie rules football.
Australia’s love for the Killers produced this viral hit with sports host Gerard Whateley during a radio appearance, read the lyrics to ‘Mr. Brightside’ as if it was a sport with player charging to score a goal. It’s really striking to see the song about emotional distress over a relationship
.@GerardWhateley is ready to step in for @thekillers if they can't make the @AFL Grand Final. Watching him commentate 'Mr Brightside' is đŻ pic.twitter.com/o0hWWdhJPZ

According to BlabberMouth.net PROPHETS OF RAGE guitarist Tom Morello revealed in an interview with Music Feeds that he and late singer Chris Cornell â with whom Morello recorded and toured in AUDIOSLAVE â had discussed an innovative way to stage a reunion of the latter band before Cornell died last May. The idea came up after AUDIOSLAVE reunited for a brief three-song set last January, with Morello explaining: “We started talking about maybe doing some sort of similar thing where maybe it would be a PROPHETS OF RAGE show and then we would drop an AUDIOSLAVE set into the middle of it, and weâd have a ball.” (MORE HERE)

Damon Albarn has revealed that he wants to release another âsurpriseâ Gorillazalbum, much like they did with 2010âs âThe Fallâ.
While the band are currently on a world tour in support of their acclaimed 2017 album âHumanzâ, Albarn is already planning out their next record. In December 2010, Gorillaz fourth album âThe Fallâ was released with just five days notice as a free download. Now, it looks like they could catch their fans off guard once again. âI really like the idea of making new music and playing it live almost simultaneously,â Albarn told Q. âIt will be a more complete record than âThe Fallâ, but hopefully have that spontaneity.â (MORE HERE)

You don’t need a degree in quantum physics to enjoy Adult Swim’s popular sci-fi sitcom Rick and Morty, but a healthy appetite for pop culture enhances the trope-filled show’s satirical flavor. As promised, the show’s third season of adventures with depressed, alcoholic, super-genius sociopath Rick Sanchez and his awkward grandson Morty are darker than ever. This season also offers a veritable masterclass in film and television trivia to those with a careful eye and a lot of time on their hands. (MORE HERE)

In terms of great musical eras, the early 90s were an amazingly fertile time for music, with the new heroes of alternative rock ruthlessly overthrowing the old guard, hip hop coming of age and rave culture leaving its grinning stamp on musicians across the spectrum. As a result, September 1991 yielded an incredible crop of killer albums – several of which changed music forever. (MORE HERE)

The 1999 series Freaks and Geeks was a perfect storm of greatness. It was an amazing coming of age series from Judd Apatow and Paul Feig that helped launch the careers of several high-profile creative talent in Hollywood.  Linda Cardellini, James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jason Segel, Busy Philipps, Samm Levine, Martin Starr to name a few. Unfortunately, it was canceled way too soon. (MORE HERE)

It was all pretty cool, and at least so far, we didn’t even go and Ken Bone the whole thing up by elevating Nacho Man, as he will forever be known henceforth, into some modern-day folk hero.
But Cubs starting pitcher and chief lieutenant in the No Fun Police Jon Lester was not amused by the tomfoolery.
âGreat effort. But I donât understand the other stuff,” Lester told the Sun-Times. “A guy fell into him and got nacho cheese on his arm and now heâs taking pictures and signing autographs. It shows you where our society’s at right now with all that stuff.”
Yes, the culture has dutifully given Gudermuth his 15 minutes, but have we really memed him, ironically or not, to the point of grotesque, ouroboros-like megastardom? That, or maybe Jon Lester is kinda cranky. Cheer up, dude, your magic number is one!

Twitter has been the social media standard for brief posts with it’s longstanding 140 character limit, but that all changes today as the platform has announced it will expand to a new bigger 280 character limit for tweets. The company clarified the change today in blog post why this huge change is being done. “We understand since many of you have been Tweeting for years, there may be an emotional attachment to 140 characters â we felt it, too. But we tried this, saw the power of what it will do, and fell in love with this new, still brief, constraint. We are excited to share this today, and we will keep you posted about what we see and what comes next.,” said the post. The move from 140 to 280 is not official just yet but is being tested with some users.
The response to it has been mixed with many divided on Twitter about the new character limit and how it may make the idea of tweeting less focused and concise. And because it’s Twitter it also garnered it’s fair share of jokes as well.
Yeah, because this site needs people talking MORE…#280characters

In 2016, Twitter allowed users to post GIFs and photos in their tweets while it didn’t count towards their 140 character limit. This allowed for a lot more memes and playfulness on the platform. It’s certainly made it easier to send that silly eyeroll gif when needed.

Saturday Night Live announced three new cast members for their 43rd season set to premiere on September 30th, and the fresh additions include two members of Chicago’s exciting comedy community.
Chris Redd has been quickly ascending in showbiz for a while now with a starring role in the Andy Samberg comedy ‘Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping’, FOX’s ‘Empire’, and a recent role in the Netflix pot comedy series ‘Disjointed’. His stand up has been blowing up recently as with headlining live shows around the country including Second City’s UP Theater. Redd is featured this season on Comedy Central’s ‘Stand-Up Presents’. I was lucky enough to work with Chris years ago on the pilot taping of ‘Fourstar Standups‘, watch his entire killer set from that here. And now he joins the cast of the most prestigious comedy TV show.
Last year it was briefly reported that Redd would join SNL before it’s highly rated season with massively successful satire of the 2016 Presidential Campaign but this time it seems official.
Whew, it's real this time. This feels better.

Luke Null is another Chicago hire for ‘SNL’ whose improv and musical comedy chops were honed at iO Theater. Null performed in the film ‘The Heart: The Final Pulse’. Watch Null lay down some hilarious tunes on the ‘Chill as F*** Show’.Â
Actress Heidi Gardner comes from the Bryan Cranston’s animated series ‘SuperManison’ and she will star in upcoming Melissa McCarthy-penned movie ‘Life of the Party’. She cut her teeth on the stages on Los Angeles’s Groundlings.
The first episode of SNL Season 43 airs on September 30th with Ryan Gosling hosting and musical guest Jay-Z.
