Las Vegas shooting leaves at least 50 dead

Last night there was a shooting at Route 91 Harvest (a 3-day country country festival) on the Las Vegas Strip.

Someone shot into a crowd of 30,000 people at an outdoor concert in Las Vegas near the Mandalay Bay casino last night.  It happened just after 10:00 p.m. local time.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police have confirmed 58 people are dead, and there were more than 515 wounded, which makes it the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history. These figures have been updated through Las Vegas area officials in a briefing today.

Jason Aldean was performing when his set was interrupted by the sound of automated gunfire and he ran off the stage.

There were several long bursts of gunfire, with long pauses in between while the shooter was reloading.  The shots came from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay.  The SWAT team had to use explosives to breach the room and take him out.

The suspect was killed by that SWAT team.  He was a 64-year-old local resident.

The cops arem looking for his female companion last night. She has been reached while outside of the country.

Jason Aldean posted a statement to confirm he’s okay.  Quote, “Tonight has been beyond horrific.  I still don’t know what to say but wanted to let everyone know that Me and my Crew are safe.

“My Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved tonight.  It hurts my heart that this would happen to anyone who was just coming out to enjoy what should have been a fun night.  #heartbroken  #stopthehate”‘

Marilyn Manson injured by falling stage prop, ends show early

Last night while performing at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, Marilyn Manson was forced to end his set early after a large stage prop fell on top of him during his performance. The singer was quickly aided out from underneath the prop by stage hands, and after a brief delay the show was ended. You can see the entire incident in the above fan-shot video as Manson and his band perform ‘Sweet Dreams’ an hour into their set.

Other videos online appear to show Manson trying to possibly climb on to the prop, before it toppled over on top of him.

“Manson suffered an injury towards the end of his incredible NYC show. He is being treated at a local hospital,” said a rep for Manson in a statement to Rolling Stone.

It is unclear how severe Manson’s injuries are at this time but to those in attendance at the show last night the situation appeared to be serious for the singer who was touring in anticipation of his upcoming album, ‘Heaven Upside Down’. “There was a lot of confusion in the crowd when it happened, people thought it was maybe part of the act,” says Loudwire’s John Hill, who was at the show. “When the guitarist moved over, the crowd started to freak out. Everyone was really worried and then chants started. They had the crowd move out of the venue real quick.”

This is not the first time this week the shock rocker has been endured some bodily harm on stage. Earlier this week while on the first leg of his current tour in Pittsburgh, Manson announced to the crowd that he had broken his ankle after taking a tumble off stage.

VIDEO: Stage Prop Collapses On Marilyn Manson; Singer Hospitalized

At last night’s show in New York City, Marilyn Manson climbed up a “two-gun” prop.  It did not end well.  The set fell on top of the singer, who was down on the stage for about fifteen minutes before being taken off on a stretcher.  Reports say that he suffered an undisclosed injury and was being treated at a local hospital.

While no official word has been given, band mate Tyler Bates said he was “headed home” in a Instagram-captioned photo of an airplane…and that the tour was “on pause for a minute.”  — [eric]

Bears: Danny Trevathan suspended for brutal hit on Packer’s Devante Adams

In Thursday’s rivalry game between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bear, Packers player Davante Adams was injured after a nasty hit by the Bear’s Danny Trevathan. The hit was brutal to see in a slow-mo replay with Adam’s helmet jarring back and his mouth-piece flying out of his mouth. Today the NFL responded with a 2-game suspension on Trevathan.

The league said that Trevathan violated Rule 12, Section 2, Article 6 (i) which states that “there shall be no unnecessary roughness. This shall include, but will not be limited to: (i) using any part of a player’s helmet or facemask to butt, spear, or ram an opponent violently or unnecessarily.”  – nfl.com

If Trevathan doesn’t have a successful appeal, he will be available for the Bear’s October 16th game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Trevathan expressed care for Adams in a post-game interview on Thursday, noting his intention was not to injure Adams.

Let’s go ‘around the horn’ with various sports new coverage of this story.

William Patrick Corgan releases new video ‘The Spaniards’

On October 13th, William Patrick Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins will release a new solo album produced by Rick Rubin, titled ‘Ogilala’ and it will soundtrack the silent film ‘Pillbox’. That all plays together for this fresh music video from the Chicago alternative vet who delivers a dreamy acoustic ballad with candy-cotton sweet ambiance that plays into a “ a hero’s journey.” It’s quite trippy and surreal in the best way. It reminded me of the fantasy film ‘ The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus’.

‘PillBox’ will be screened in limited release, including a special event at the Music Box Theater on October 11th with Corgan and the film’s director Linda Strawberry on hand.

Pearl Jam’s Wrigley Documentary Hits Theaters NOW

In addition to the soundtrack dropping today, Let’s Play Two is now showing in select theaters.  But it won’t last forever — scroll to the bottom for dates/locations.

This documentary is perfect for Chicago.  (The parts of the city that embrace the Cubs, that is.)  The movie plays as a love story between Eddie Vedder & the Cubs…part recap of the magical run to the World Series title  and part kickass concert footage from their two historical performances at Wrigley last year.

Fan club members of Pearl Jam got to hit up the Metro for the last couple of nights…and now it settles in for a week long run at Arclight in Chicago.  After that, it makes a limited appearance in suburban theaters.  Hit it up for the movie theatre experience…or wait until November to take it home.  — [eric]

WATCH: Lorde covers Phil Collins’ “In the Air Tonight”

(from consequenceofsound.net)

While appearing on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast earlier this month, Lorde confessed her love for the work of Phil Collins. “My favorite pop males are the guys that sound like a combination of your boyfriend and your dad,” she said before singing a few bars of “Take Me Home”. “That’s Phil.” That discussion must have primed the pop star for her BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge appearance earlier this morning, because she knew right away what song she’d be covering: Collins’ classic “In the Air Tonight”. Watch the first clip from Josh Homme’s appearance on CBeebies’ ‘Bedtime Story’

(from nme.com)

The first clip from Josh Homme’s appearance on Bedtime Stories has been released, and it sees the Queens of The Stone Age frontman showing an altogether softer side.

The singer is set to follow in the footsteps of Tom Hardy and Avengers star Chris Evans by taking part in the CBeebies show, which sees a famous face reading out a popular children’s bedtime story.

Now, the first footage from Homme’s appearance has been released, and it shows him reading out Julia Donaldson’s ‘Zog’ while accompanied by his friend SnoopBob Meatball, a toy dragon.

“Now, even dragons need to rest”, Homme softly tells viewers in the clip.

“It’s time for Snoop-Bob Meatball to go to sleep and you too! So snuggle up and dream of far away places. And I’ll see you soon for another bedtime story, night night!” (MORE HERE)

Watch The Killers “Mr. Brightside’ performed as if it was live sports

#AFL soundcheck.

A post shared by The Killers (@thekillers) on

The Killers are truly an international sensation something that evident here locally when the Nevada based band headlined Lollapalooza. Every person I met at the fest that was from another country for Lolla, almost everyone of them mentioned they were there for Brandon Flowers and company. That global appeal continued in this viral hit from Austraila, where the band is set to provide the pre-show for the Australia Football League Grand Final this Saturday. It’s the Ausssie’s equivalent to the Super Bowl that is the championship game for Aussie rules football.

Australia’s love for the Killers produced this viral hit with sports host Gerard Whateley during a radio appearance, read the lyrics to ‘Mr. Brightside’ as if it was a sport with player charging to score a goal. It’s really striking to see the song about emotional distress over a relationship

Here is Brandon and Ronnie promoted the pre-game party on Australia’s talk show. It was hard not to laugh when the host say Killers in that sweet accent.

TOM MORELLO Reveals Abandoned AUDIOSLAVE Reunion Plans

(Photo from Riot Fest 2017: Julia Simone Paul)

According to BlabberMouth.net PROPHETS OF RAGE guitarist Tom Morello revealed in an interview with Music Feeds that he and late singer Chris Cornell — with whom Morello recorded and toured in AUDIOSLAVE — had discussed an innovative way to stage a reunion of the latter band before Cornell died last May. The idea came up after AUDIOSLAVE reunited for a brief three-song set last January, with Morello explaining: “We started talking about maybe doing some sort of similar thing where maybe it would be a PROPHETS OF RAGE show and then we would drop an AUDIOSLAVE set into the middle of it, and we’d have a ball.” (MORE HERE)
