THESE DAYS IT’S DIFFICULT NOT to find yourself in the general vicinity of an outstanding burger. Americans’ love of all forms of beef between buns has grown so passionate that it seems like every restaurant that opens feels compelled to put a burger on its menu. (MORE HERE)
Now I have my retirement plan. Of course you can’t have a list of “Best Burger Joints In America” w/o including Chicago. See below which Chicago establishment made the list + some regional favorites as well.
Don’t let the moniker fool you — Kopp’s is very much a burger joint, although the burgers and the custard are by no means mutually exclusive experiences.
In the years since 1947, a lot has changed in the Detroit area, but through thick and thin, one thing has remained a constant: the burger at Miller’s Bar.
One could arguably call Small Cheval’s older sibling Au Cheval a burger joint, given the way its signature burger became a nationwide sensation that still inspires two-hour waits. But the burger is still but a single item on a wide-ranging menu.
One of the things people are super excited for this Halloween is not the sexy fidget spinner costume (yes, that lame idea is real) but it may be the stream dream that is Season 2 of the 80’s throwback of the horror/scifi series ‘Stranger Things’ on Netflix. The early reviews are coming in and it looks like our collective expectations of the weird goings-on in Hawkins, IN will be met with a delightful adventure of charismatic kids, interdenominational monsters, and the conspiracy to conceal all the chaos from the public. New episodes are going up on Netflix this Friday, October 27th so get your Eggo waffles ready.
Here is a look at the early reviews with NO SPOILERS.
Stranger Things had an almost impossible task when it came to following up on a first season that had near-universal acclaim. That it’s still engaging, gorgeous looking, and smartly written is a truly impressive feat. The show didn’t hit any reset buttons; it let every character grow and change, and it’s just remarkable. This is a show growing naturally into itself and does everything to make the nine-hour commitment worth it. – Gizmodo
Much of the new season asks various residents of Hawkins where their true homes are. It’s not a spoiler to say that they find refuge, as most of us do — if we’re lucky — in each other. – Variety
Here the team at Collider breaks down everything they could from the first six episodes released to press for reviews. It looks like a grand return for the most talked about TV show in years.
Plus the soundtrack for this show continues it’s new wave synth-nightmare vibe which is just a great spice to already great stew that is ‘Stranger Things’. Listen to the creeptacular track -by-track preview for Season 2, done by composers Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein.
A guy in Canada was singing C&C Music Factory’s “Everybody Dance Now” while driving when 4 cops pulled him over and hit him with a ticket for $149. Granted, it’s not the best song, but that’s nuts!
What song would you be caught belting out while driving?
This Halloween display has neighbors in New Jersey all bent out of shape. They even called the police because they felt it was so realistic. Did they owner go too far or is this just another example of #fakeoutrage? NJ.Com has the entire story and more pics HERE.

Alex Hooper from Comedy Central’s Roast Battle 2 or Fox’s New Girl loves to make people laugh almost as much as he loves pugs and yoga. So he’s decided to make a calendar and could use your help to meet his goal.
I love when people take Halloween to the next level. Check out the Edwards Landing Lights house in Virginia who coordinated Portugal. The Man’s Feel It Still with their Halloween light display…

Replay Lincoln Park has completely transformed its rear bar into Moe’s Tavern from “The Simpsons!” DUFF BEER FOR ALL!!!
From DNA Info: Owen Mark Kwiatkowski said he and his wife Jessica took the task of transforming the bar into Moe’s very seriously. They spent hours researching the bar to catch little details only super-fans might notice.
“We did research on which episodes featured Moe’s, and we’d watch it together, pause it, take pictures — there are so many details in the show,” Kwiatkowski said. “If you were just watching the show, it would go by so quickly.”
So far the response has been phenomenal.
“It’s crazy,” Kwiatkowski said. “People are getting all geeked out about it.”
The bar hosted a “Simpsons” trivia night on Wednesday with questions Kwiatkowski said were incredibly obscure, and the winners of the night got almost every question right (“How do they know all that?” Kwiatkowski said with a laugh). Moe’s will host another “Simpsons” trivia night on Wednesday.
Replay opens at 5 p. Mondays-Thursday, 3 p. Fridays and noon Saturdays and Sundays.
I wonder how many prank calls the bartenders are getting…

I don’t know how I feel about this. Maybe it’s the visual. Or maybe I really like it? Either way I need some time to collect my thoughts.
If you’ve waited until the last minute to pick a Halloween costume here a few Stranger Things DIY costume ideas that look pretty easy to make.

Berlin-based pop singer Alice Merton maps the Billboard debut of “No Roots,” which sits at No. 16 on the Alternative Songs Chart (dated the week of Oct. 28).
She grew up loving classical music
At age 5, Merton began training in classical piano and clarinet. “I loved a lot of the romantic composers,” she says, name-dropping Chopin and Rachmaninoff. After moving to Munich in her teens, she discovered a massive music library in the city and started listening to The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs and The Alan Parsons Project. (MORE HERE)

Chicago police have issued a new warning after more than a dozen ATM skimming devices have been found across the city.
The skimmers can steal critical personal information. Police said someone attached the devices inside the ATMs and also placed cameras to record PIN numbers as they are entered in some instances.
The alert comes after police said ATM skimmers were found at several Walgreens stores in the Loop.
Chicago police recommend checking the ATM card slot and PIN pad, which should not be loose and to cover your hand when you enter your PIN. Cards should not have any problem or irregularity when placed in the card reader and if there is, do not use the ATM.
In response to the skimming devices found at Walgreens, a spokesperson said in a statement, “Any business that offers an ATM as a convenience to their customers could face this issue. The ATMs in our drugstores are owned and operated by a third party and at our request they will immediately begin to inspect all ATMs in our Chicago locations.”
A spokesperson with Citibank, whose ATMs are found inside Walgreens, released a statement saying, “Protecting our customers from fraudulent activity is a critical priority for Citi. Our customers are not liable for any fraud or unauthorized use of their accounts.”
Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call the Chicago Police Financial Crimes Unit at (312) 746-9661,
Expert William Kresse, “Professor Fraud” at Governor’s State University, says there are ways to protect yourself.
“Look for a tightness when you place that card in there that might indicate that a skimmer has been placed on that machine. Don’t use it if you have any doubts. There are enough ATMs in this town,” he said.
Kresse said if the card is hard to put in the slot, it is a warning sign.
“If the card is hard to put in the slot, there could be a skimmer placed internally or if there is something that looks like it is added on, that’s an external skimmer. Again, your best bet is to go to a financial institution, they tend to have the later machines that have got the anti-tampering technology built into them,” he said.
Kresse said it is best to avoid standalone ATMs, if at all possible.
Many times, scammers need to physically be there to obtain your pin. Make sure you cover your hand when entering your pin and watch for people looking over your shoulder or even recording you. Also, check the ATM keypad for what is known as a plastic overlay that can also record your pin when you touch the keypad. To be extra safe, you should also change your PIN regularly. More from DNA info.
Have you ever had your personal information stolen? How did you find out?

There’s a company called Dolls Kill and they just released a new costume for Halloween . . . the SEXY FIDGET SPINNER. It’s a silver leotard with the stomach and back cut out . . . and it has two fidget spinners lining up with the boobs. Yeah.
They’re selling it for $38 at DollsKill.com, and if you’re into it, you should probably order it ASAP so it gets to you in time for Halloween. Of all the “sexy” costumes, is this one the worst idea yet, or would you wear it?
Pierce is a student at the University of South Carolina, who decided during a recent show that he would hold up a sign that read: “DRUMS ON ‘UNDER PRESSURE’?” It paid off, as Dave pulled him up on stage for a surreal moment that would make most fans scream “HOLY S#%&!” over and over again in their brains.
And he backs his confidence with some serious drumming chops. Check it out the Queen cover (1:30 if you want to just get to the music). — [eric]
The Chicaog Bulls have relaunched their charming web series, Late Night Snacks with Henry which features a very talkative kid named Henry who interacts with the Chicago Bulls while eating candy. On this episode, Henry helps player Zack Levine write a thank you card to team mate Robin Lopez for giving his jersey number. It’s cute, funny, and just a good watch.
The series had several last season including one with now former Bull and current Cavalier Dwayn Wade.
This is a lot nicer to hear about from the Bulls considering the news from last week when Bulls player Nikola Miroticsufferd a fractured bone in his face from an altercation with teammate Bobby Portis. Bulls are set for their home opener tonight at the UC against the San Antonio Spurs. Read full game preview running down the Bulls drama-filled week.
To honor the 10th anniversary of their seminal album ‘The Con’, sisters in alternative Tegan and Sara assembled an all star cast for ‘The Con X: Covers’ to cover the tracks from the 2007 album. You can listen to entire album in the Youtube playlist above with acts like Ryan Adams, Shura, PVRIS, CHVRCHES, Cyndi Lauper, Bleachers and Hayley Williams of Paramore all contributed dancier takes on the album’s original versions.
This special project was put together by T&S for a special cause. “From day one we wanted the proceeds to go to our newly-launched Tegan and Sara Foundation, which raises money for self-identified women and girls in the LGBTQ community. With that intention set, we asked 14 artists who were either outspoken allies of the LGTBQ community or LGBTQ themselves to each cover a song from The Con. We encouraged each artist to approach the song they were covering in any fashion they saw fit. Their inspiration could come from the original record or The Con Demos, our first home recordings that were released after The Con came out. All the artists agreed to donate their time and energy to the project and their labels all agreed to waive their fees as well.” says a statement on the band’s official website.
A simplistic gem on the record is Ryan Adams’s drum machine and guitar take on ‘Back In Your Head’ is a stand out.
