Video Apparently Shows Josh Homme Kicking Photographer at Show

Not sure what was up with Josh Homme at last night’s Queens of the Stone Age appearance in Los Angeles.  He intentionally cut his forehead open, cursed the headliner of the festival show…and then, there’s this, video courtesy of Consequence of Sound:

Even if he’s just trying to take out the camera, I’m not exactly sure where his head is at kicking a ridiculously expensive piece of equipment.

Anyways, the photographer ended up going to the E.R. and plans on pressing charges.  Not a good look.  Not at all.  — [eric]

UPDATE:  Josh Homme’s apology, from Twitter:

Watch ‘ELF’ recut to be a horror movie

Will Ferrell’s ‘ELF” stands the test of time as a vivid mix of over-the-top humor with a heart-warming holiday message, but the talented deviants at Mashable have flipped it on it’s head with a horror remixed trailed that gives it a whole new spooky vibe. Yeah, now Buddy does not seem so nice does he?

It’s clever how just some musical adjustments and choice cuts of dialogue work this joke into you so easily.

Best (or the Worst?) Social Medias of TBOX ’17

WGN’s Pat Tomasulo  reports from the drunken weirdness that is TBOX back in 2012

TBOX, the 12 Bars of Christmas in the past few years has morphed into ugly christmas sweater bacchanal of booze, costumes, non-milk cereal consumption, and public intoxication. It went down yesterday and Twitter had a field day covering all of the madness in Wrigleyville. Here is the best (or worst?) of TBOX 2017 from across the social medias.

Yeah for those of us that don’t like that MANY drunk people in once place this is amusing.

One Teen’s Goal? To Have Weezer Cover 80’s Classic “Africa”

Mary is a fourteen year old girl from Cleveland.  That’s not even half as mature as the Toto classic, “Africa.”  But it appears as though the prospect of Weezer covering a pop hit from 1982 is something she desires greatly, no matter the motivation:

Weezer has been known to cover a tune or two.  And frankly, they’ve picked some great ones:  Radiohead, Wheatus, Psychedelic Furs, among a handful of other ones that I’ve enjoyed.  But one girl has made it her mission to get Toto into the mix, who talked with Noisey about her mission.

Mary joked that the new album Daydream must have been inspired by “Africa,” and somehow that evolved into the thought that maybe…just maybe…the band might be up for covering it.

She’s created a Twitter account, fired off messages towards the band, and begged and pleaded everywhere to get this done.  So far, only Patrick Wilson has responded (he said it made him laugh).  But really, what we need is…an official position statement from Rivers Cuomo.

It doesn’t need to be on social media.  I think fans would be okay if they just ripped into the famous refrain as confirmation.  — [eric]

The early reviews are in for ‘STAR WARS: The LAST JEDI’ are in

Carrie Fisher’s dog has a cameo in Star Wars: The Last Jedi

At the closing ceremonies for 2016’s Star Wars Celebration, the world’s largest convention for the franchise, both Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill had a very exact complaint to be made: why are there no dogs in the Star Wars universe?

“I’m just here to make sure Gary gets a part at least in the next [movie],” Fisher said at the time. And it looks as if General Leia got her request: Gary Fisher, her French Bulldog companion that was rarely separated from her side, has a cameo in The Last Jedi.

Watch the first trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

( from ew.com)

The Jurassic Park franchise teaches us that life will find a way. But the folks behind Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (out June 22) found quite a few ways over the past week to stoke interest in the series’ fifth entry, from a 15-second teaser, to a parodical sketch starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, to EW’s very own first look at the film. In the latter, Howard explained how the movie finds her character Claire Dearing and Pratt’s Owen Grady attempting to save the dinosaurs on Isla Nublar from an active volcano. “Claire’s founded an organization, Dinosaur Protection Group, and they’re finding a way to get these dinosaurs off the island,” Howard told EW. “She reaches out to Owen Grady to let him know this is happening.”

I’ve Never Had a Use for a QR Code. Until Now.

You are looking at a drink coaster.  It is a QR code, which if you aren’t familiar with those things, here…crib notes.

I’ve never had ANY use for QR codes, but this is INGENIOUS.

This 3D-Printed QR code drink coaster gives your guests access to your Wi-Fi.  Just scan it and they are connected.

You might be thinking…”Hey, Eric, how the hell do I scan a QR Code with my phone?  Don’t you have to have a special reader?

If you have an iPhone, just open your camera and hover over any QR Code now…and it will recognize it.  I don’t think Android’s camera will do this, though.

But NON-CRAPPY LIFE PRO TIP:  If you do this, don’t post a picture of your work to the internet.  Even with the guy’s fingers covering it, people on Reddit could figure out his router password.  Oops.

QR codes might be the next Betamax or HD DVD…but I’ll be dammed, I might not be the only one keeping these things alive.

Quentin Tarantino working to direct an ‘R’ rated Star Trek movie

Quentin Taratino, the acclaimed director of grisly R-rated classic films like ‘Pulp Fiction’ and ‘Inglorious Bastards’ is reportedly working to direct a future Star Trek film with fellow Hollywood heavyweight J.J. Abrams producing, under the Paramount Studios umbrella. This odd pairing of the two wildly different directors sees both of them working with a beloved franchise that has never gone into the realm of ‘R’ rated content. Currently the project is in preproduction with a script in the works for the potential film.

Do we get Captain Kirk and Spock swearing at each other about what the French call Big Mac sandwiches? I sincerely hope so.

Abrams helped reinvigorate Star Trek with a 2009 film reboot starring Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto which saw success,  followed it up with 2013’s ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’. He continued on in a executive producer role of the revamped Trek series with  last year’s ‘Beyond’ which was directed by Justin Lin (‘Fast & Furious’). As if Abrams who already broke ground with the ‘LOST’ TV series and ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, he now is going to tag team with one of the most successful ‘outlaw’ directors in the movie business.

Screen Junkies News breaks down all the geeky possibilities about where Tarantino can go with the Star Trek universe.

Candy Cane Pizza…

‘Tis the season for people to reinvent/ruin classic foods.  First mustard on pop tarts, now candy canes on pizza thanks to David Sanchez.
