Walter Gervers Leaving Foals

Walter Gervers has been with Foals for 12 years, but the next time they come through Chicago someone else will be playing bass for the band. Foals posted the letter below on Facebook. Sounds like they are separating on good terms. The good news, looks like we’ll be seeing new music from Foals at some point soon.

‘Rick & Morty’ is not coming back soon

‘Rick & Morty’ gave us a wonderful long-awaited season in 2017, and it was easily one of the best shows on TV this past year. If you don’t agree, you need Mr. Meeseeks to come fix your life. One of the writers Ryan Ridley revealed in an interview with Detroit Cast, that the head writers/show creators Dan Harmon and Jason Roiland “really take their time” and they have not started the next season of the hit Adult Swim series.

“I never understood why everybody—all parties, Dan, Justin and Adult Swim—didn’t get their shi*t together and make the show fast,” says Ridley. “It doesn’t make any sense to me. I’m sure they all have their reasons.”

“Get your sh*t together, you guys,” pleads Ridley.

This might be the longest wait for R&M fans. There was a 13-month gap between season 1 and 2, and then another 16-months until the nerdy hordes feasted on Season 3 in 2017. It could take up to two years for season four to be released, which could put Rick Sanchez and his space-traveling dysfunctional family back on the air in late 2019.

Sex Robots Could Kill People

No sooner do we learn that sex robots are a real thing than we learn they can be hijacked to kill people. A cyber-security lecturer tells Newsweek, “Hackers can hack into a robot or a robotic device and have full control of the connections, arms, legs and other attached tools like in some cases knives or welding devices.” And in case you’re wondering, the technology has been moving along at a shocking pace, and sex robots are thought by some to be the future of sex tourism.

Security flaws have already been found in Bluetooth-enabled sex toys, which can be controlled remotely by hackers.

What happens if you eat at Chipotle for 430 days in a row?  (refrains from poop joke)

The fast mexican joint celebrated the milestone by presenting Bruce Wayne of Tiffin, Ohio with a custom-made Chipotle superhero cape and cufflinks – a nod to his love of both Batman and burritos.

Chipotle will also reinvest his dollars spent over the course of his journey in a monetary donation to a nonprofit of his choice.

Previously, Wayne learned about a fellow fan who had consumed Chipotle for 425 days straight and knew his mission was clear.

With no end in sight, (refrains from another poop joke) Wayne is documenting his journey on instagram HERE

Streaming service hit with monster suit

Spotify’s being sued by a music publishing company that represents artists like the Black Keys and Rage Against the Machine. Wixen Music Publishing says Spotify allegedly used thousands of songs without a license, and is seeking damages of $150K per song.

The legal reasons for the suit are a little complicated, but a lot revolves around whether the Music Modernization Act gets passed. You can read more about that here.

Just six months ago, Spotify settled for over $43 million to resolve a class-action lawsuit led by David Lowery (Cracker, Camper Van Beethoven) and Melissa Ferrick.

Urlacher Named HOF Finalist

The list of finalists for induction to the NFL Hall of Fame was cut from 27 to 15. We won’t know who is getting in until the night before the Super Bow, but former Bear, Brian Urlacher is still in the hunt. Obviously, he’s in some pretty select company. Edgerrin James,  Isaac Bruce, Steve Hutchinson, Joe Jacoby, Everson Walls, Tony Boselli, Ty Law, Alan Faneca, Ray Lewis, John Lynch, Kevin Mawae, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens and Brian Dawkins all made it as well. A few senior finalists are in the mix, too. Jerry Kramer, Bobby Beathard and Robert Brazile.

Out of all those names they’ll only pick up to 8. That happens on Feb, 3rd.

The Bears have it all HERE.

Woman fighting cancer, marries in hospital hours before her death

Heather Mosher who was battling an aggressive form of  breast cancer at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford,  where she was married to David Mosher on December 22nd. She passed away the next day.

Her doctors asked David to move up their original wedding date of December 30th 2017, fearing Heather’s condition would worsen. The couple surrounded by their friends and family were married in the hospital’s chapel with the lovely bride dressed in a beautiful gown as they celebrated their vows.. The couple already endured so much, getting engaged the same day that Heather received her initial cancer diagnosis. Her funeral was held on December 30th.

Let it be a reminder that love conquerors all. Even in these tragic situations, you can see how much these people love each other and what that love means when challenged by sickness.

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong rings in NYE with an all-star punk jam

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong rang in the New Year with an all-star show in the intimate setting of New York City’s Berlin club. Armstrong was joined by members of the Replacements, the E. Street Band, the Hold Stready, and Blondie all joined through out the night for classic punk covers. And man, I am jealous looking at these Instagram posts from the people lucky enough to see this in person.

Maybe we shouldn’t be too jealous of NYC, as Green Day gave us an intimate ‘press conference’ in the LOUNGE this past fall. Relive that fun conversation that touches on the band’s huge success, their early days playing odd rooms with male strippers joining them on stage when they didn’t expect it, and how drummer Tre Cool will eat almost anything.

Bastille Releases Documentary

Bastille suck out a documentary of the making of the album “Wild World” on New Years Eve. Here’s the bands Facebook announcement.

“Hello you lot.

Before everyone gets stuck into their NYE nights, we just wanted to say to everybody who’s come to our gigs, listened to our tunes, seen us at a festival, or supported us in any way in 2017 – thank you all so, so much. We feel like a bunch of incredibly lucky morons.

There’s loads of new stuff to come from us in 2018, but for now – while we’re finishing up our 3rd album and our 4th mixtape – we’re excited to present “Help Me Chase Those Seconds”, a film about the making of “Wild World” that was shot & directed by our friend Tom Middleton. It’ll be up to stream on our VEVO page today at 3pm BST.

We hope you like it (if you get some time to check it out), and we hope you all have fucking brilliant nights tonight.

Dan, Woody, Kyle and Will”

Cemetery: Stop taking videos at Soundgarden singer’s grave

Hollywood Forever, the cemetery where Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell is buried, sent a letter to Cornell’s widow asking that fans stop taking videos at the gravesite. Cornell’s management team tweeted, “We understand that some of Chris’s fans wish to video their visits at Hollywood Forever, but we’ve had confirmation that it’s against their policy. We’d like to thank everyone for their understanding.”

The cemetery says their primary concern is to protect the privacy of other families with loved ones buried in the cemetery, and says in its letter that Cornell’s fans are “always respectful of his space.”

John Williams Writing Theme for “Solo”

John Williams will have a hand in the upcoming “Solo: A Star Wars Movie.” While he won’t be scoring the whole film, he will be writing the theme for the movie. John Powell is still the main composer for the flick. Williams did not score “Rogue One” either. According to Variety. this is the process for his “Solo” work. “What I will do is offer this to John [Powell], and to [director] Ron Howard, and if all parties are happy with it, then I will be happy,” he said. “John will complete the score. He will write all the rest of the themes and all of the other material, which I’m going to be very anxious to hear.”

Angie Han has more on Mashable.

New Year’s Day Polar Plunge called off for an obvious reason

For the first time in 11 years, the New Years Day tradition of costumed hordes of charity raisers running into   the Lake Michigan at North Avenue Beach has been called off due you gueessed it, THE FREEZING TEMPS!

“We thought about going in and maybe not going under water,” said Jeff Coggins, who organizes the annual “Freezin’ for a Reason in a report from the Sun Times.” “The way the waves have been breaking on shore and freezing, it created these big domes of ice and it appeared to be too dangerous.” Coggins specified the ‘Polar Plunge’ has been postponed, not exactly cancelled and has raised  $17,600 for American Greyhound, which finds homes for “retired racing greyhounds, as well as other sight hounds in need.”

That did not stop the 9th Annual Waukegan Polar Bear Plunge hosted by the Waukegan Park District and the city of Waukegan, which as you can see below went down this morning. I bet they will not reget it, right?
